Chapter 107 Sacrifice and Savagery
The moon descended to its lowest point, shrouding the forest in an eerie darkness, where the morning sun's light was replaced by a haunting glow. In the depths of the woods, Long Guan, with his three friends, faced a ferocious, four-star beast.
The creature stood on two legs, its muscular arms ending in razor-sharp claws, a fearsome visage adorned with fangs and horns. It towered at a height of nine meters, a true embodiment of terror.
"Cursed demon, this monster!" Xia Zhong spat, his grip on his sword tight with deep fear.
Long Guan smirked cynically. "This is a good opportunity to prove our true strength. Prepare to fight, and don't expect anyone to save us," he said with unwavering determination.
The monster leaped quickly, sending a gust of wind as its feet slammed into the ground. The four of them prepared for battle, their eyes radiating tension and fear.
"Duck!" Long Guan shouted, lowering his body as the monster launched a blind attack. Long Guan's friend closest to the monster wasn't as fortunate. Razor-sharp claws slid at lightning speed, tearing through his body brutally.
"Fuck! Xia Pei's dead!" cried one of his friends, his tone full of despair. But Long Guan didn't have time to mourn the loss. With his sword in hand, he retaliated by stabbing it into the monster's body. However, the attack didn't do much against the powerful demonic creature, only a few drops of blood trickling down.
Long Guan knew he needed to take drastic action. Quickly, he jumped high into the air, his mouth bulging as blue flames spewed from it, engulfing the monster.
Seeing this, Xia Zhong and Long Xie immediately summoned their martial spirits. Xia Zhong with a spirit of fire beast and Long Xie in the form of an Azure dragon. Their bodies were instantly shrouded in flames.
In the next moment, the two of them shot towards the monster, raining it with relentless attacks. Every punch had the impact of a fiery explosion, rendering the monster helpless.
The monster howled in pain as the blue flames wrapped around its body, accompanied by assaults from Xia Zhong and Long Xie. However, with a swift motion, the monster quickly moved away from the blazing inferno.
With eyes turning red, the monster screamed loudly, creating a red energy around it, making Long Guan pressed to the ground, just like Xia Zhong and Long Xie.
At lightning speed, it shot directly towards Long Xie, its sharp claws ready to strike him. Yet, Long Guan managed to free himself, and a large dragon claw shadow appeared in his hand, immediately attacking the monster's claw.
Claw!
The monster screamed in pain as its arm was scratched by Long Guan's dragon claw, retreating several steps backward.
Not wasting the opportunity, Long Guan stood up, a blue aura emanating from his body. The next moment, he roared with a deafening dragon roar, causing the monster to cover its ears, writhing in pain.
Meanwhile, Xia Zhong and Long Xie managed to free themselves and stood, panting. Just the monster's scream had drained their energy, a four-star beast was no trifling matter.
Long Guan ceased his roaring; his gaze still locked on the monster. "Attack!" he shouted.
With that, he shot towards the monster, engaging it with raw power. Xia Zhong and Long Xie immediately followed, attacking the monster from various angles.
The sound of fierce battle echoed through the forest. The three of them, with Flowing Qi cultivation base, faced the formidable four-star beast.
---
Minutes passed, Long Guan, Xia Zhong, and Long Xie were panting, staring at the monster in front of them with utmost seriousness.
During dozens of minutes of battling, they had inflicted significant damage on the monster, evident from the burns, slashes, and scratches on its body.
Yet, even so, the three of them were also severely injured. Xia Zhong had even lost his left eye with a horrifying claw mark on his face.
Long Guan pondered deeply; if it continued like this, he was sure it was only a matter of time before they would be killed by the monster.
However, an idea sparked in his mind. "I have a good idea; this should work," he said.
"Whatever it is, let's do it!" Xia Zhong said with determination.
Long Xie nodded in agreement.
"Very well," Long Guan nodded.
Then, he grabbed Xia Zhong's collar. Xia Zhong was surprised, yet, before he could react, Long Guan threw him towards the monster.
The monster immediately caught him, tearing Xia Zhong with its sharp claws, blood dripping cruelly.
Yet, in that moment, Long Guan appeared behind the monster with a trident in his grip, the three prongs of the trident exuding a sharp blue aura, which was a weapon sharpening technique.
With a forceful thrust, he stabbed the trident into the back of the monster's head.
Stab!
The three sharp prongs pierced the monster's skin, deeply to its face.
However, Long Guan didn't halt his assault. He clenched the trident's handle tightly, and a tremendous surge of water erupted, blowing apart the monster's head in a violent explosion.
The next moment, it fell to the ground, lifeless.
Long Guan stood amidst the carnage, his chest heaving with exertion. The lifeless body of the once ferocious four-star beast lay at his feet, a testament to his work. Blood dripped from his trident, staining the ground with a gruesome reminder of the battle.
However, Long Xie's eyes were wide with horror, his gaze shifting between Xia Zhong's mangled form and Long Guan. "You... killed Xia Zhong," he whispered, his voice laced with disbelief and inner anger.
Long Guan turned to face him, a sinister grin spread across Long Guan's face, his lips curling into a twisted smile. "In this world, only the strong survive," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "Xia Zhong's sacrifice was necessary for our victory. It's a brutal truth, but one we cannot deny."
Long Xie clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms. Anger and grief warred within him, his emotions a turbulent storm. "You heartless bastard!" he spat, his voice raw with emotion. "You killed him without a second thought!"
Long Guan's grin widened, his eyes glinting with a cruel satisfaction. "In the world of martial spirits, sentimentality is a luxury we cannot afford," he retorted, his tone mocking. "Only the ruthless thrive, and I intend to be the strongest."
And the next moment, he pointed his trident at Long Xie. "Listen," he hissed, his voice low and menacing. "If you breathe a word of my actions to anyone, if you dare to challenge my authority, I won't just kill you. I'll make sure your death is slow and agonizing, a fate worse than any nightmare you can imagine."
Deep fear filled Long Xie. Trembling with the certainty of a murder threat, he stammered, "I... I will stay silent about this," though unwillingly complying.
A sinister grin crept onto Long Guan's lips. "Good, if you keep it that way, I will spare you. But if not, a tragic fate awaits you," he said.
"I understand," Long Xie responded, suppressing his fear.
"Good. This corpse belongs to me, so be gone," Long Guan said.
Without a second thought, Long Xie immediately turned around and ran away.
Watching Long Xie's departure slowly fade from his view, Long Guan's gaze shifted back to the monster's corpse.
"Now, your abilities belong to me," he grinned.
