What had started as taking a commemorative photo turned into a thirty minute long photo shoot. Now that it was over, she reclined on the sofa, still feeling the presence of the spirit within, and sipped the black tea the owner had brought her to wind down.

Next to her, the owner carefully stored the camera in its box, treating it like a valuable family heirloom, and even locked the box and took the key, not wanting to take any chances with it.

Seeing how happy the owner was now that they had secured a better future for antiques, Mira believed that she could trust him with actually pulling it off.

And then she thought of something that could give him another push forward.

「Owner, since we’re already discussing so much about the spirits mistaken for something worse in antiques, let me show you something more to help you further.」

Mira had waited for him to put away the tripod and other equipment before talking to him. That made him turn around, and ask with a bit of curiosity, 「You want to show me more?」

He was still thinking about the photos, which had covered everything he desired, but now Mira was offering something more. His imagination began to run wild, wondering if she would let him do more than just take pictures. But obviously enough, what Mira wanted to share was nothing like that at all.

「Yes, it’s actually the main reason why I’ve been searching for antiques with spirits in them to begin with.」

Mira slowly stood up and turned around, making sure the owner got a good look as she activated Carved Seal of the Contract.

「What’s happening..?!」

As Mira held out her hand, the sofa began to glow and particles of light came off, being absorbed into her hand like shooting stars. Once that was over, the owner mumbled in confusion, trying to understand what he had just witnessed. His mind continued running in high gear, trying to figure out what that was.

「You’re…a summoner… And spirits are…wait…was that a Summoning Contract?」

Old furniture with spirits in them had just been a rumor until recently for him, so he did not know that summoners could establish Contracts with them. But he knew about other Man-made Spirits like those in Armor Spirits, which could be summoned, so it stood to reason that the same would apply to furniture. Once he thought about it that far, he asked if it was the right answer.

「Yes, that’s correct! All summoners should be able to form these Contracts with spirits. And obviously, they can be summoned as well.」

Mira puffed her chest with pride as she announced the hidden power of summoners, and driven by it, she decided to give it a try right away.

Summoning Magic: My Sofa

The spell activated and a sofa appeared from a small magic circle. It was a smaller sofa of a deep blue color, only big enough for one person to sit on.

「This is incredible..!」

The owner’s eyes widened seeing a brand new sofa appear out of thin air like that, and he squatted down to look at it more closely.

「Its shape is reminiscent of the Feuslot Era, but it’s unlike any design I’ve seen before. I also don’t recognize the material, but still… I’m so glad!」

The spirits in all antiques that had been suspected of being haunted, like the sofa the owner had watched over so dearly, could be made visible that way. Being able to see it made the owner happy from the bottom of his heart.

「I’m still a bit surprised, it looks rather different from the original sofa.」

Once he collected his thoughts a bit, the owner commented on that, and Mira grinned as she had been anticipating that question.

The owner did not know much about summoning, so Mira was careful to explain things in a way that he could understand, and that would be easy to communicate to the masses.

Summoning Man-Made Spirits was a bit different from other summons, as their shape would change depending on the mental image the summoner had of them. That would often manifest in different armor shapes of Dark Knights, and it even had an effect on their agility and defensive power.

Spirits from furniture were attached to a normal and comfortable life, so they were even more malleable when summoning. She herself was still learning about it, but as the Contract settled and the tie between summoner and spirit became stronger, the summoned furniture would also become larger and look even better.

「I’ve only recently started to look into ways to use these abilities outside of fighting. I can’t say for sure yet, but I believe that there’s nearly endless hidden possibilities.」

As Mira spoke of that, she began to dream about the future of summoners, giving her a maddened grin. Back when she was experimenting with the spirit mansion, she tried thinking that it would be nice having a window in the bathroom, and the next time she summoned it, she found a large window there, corresponding to her desires. She had also seen how they could change in size, she did not know to what extent, but it was enough for her to already feel attached to the sofa she had just gotten.

「I see…! Ahh, I expected no less from the Spirit Queen!」

The owner’s body shivered seeing Mira’s grin, but he understood what she was getting at. With this new information, news about the potential of summoners would spread far and wide, alongside updates about antiques.

With some searching, she would likely find a chair, table, bed, and so on. Those were items that could provide adventurers with comfort hardly found while working. Being able to eat on a proper table and sleep on a soft bed provided a more homely environment, allowing one’s mind to rest together with their body.

Carrying those with the rest of their equipment was too impractical and bulky, but a summoner could get brand new looking ones at will. On top of that, having a summoner would cut down on the overall equipment a party of adventurers would need to carry like sleeping bags, increasing the capacity for potions, food, and weapons. That knowledge would likely put summoners in a more desirable spot as well.

「I know there’s furniture designed to be light and portable for adventurers in certain stores, but I’m sure those pale in comparison to an actual sofa.」

The owner had also been an adventurer in the past, so he knew what that environment looked like. He could also see how well built the sofa Mira had summoned looked. Places like the Dinowal Store had various portable appliances and furniture, aimed at adventurers who wanted a more comfortable time, but they still took precious carrying space. The owner could instantly tell that there was nothing that came closer to summoning furniture instead.

「I know, I know. But that’s not all.」

Mira sounded pleased to see the owner understand the impact that ability had, and her grin broadened even more as she plopped down on the sofa and turned to look at the owner.

「By the way, did you know that sometimes spirits are also born in houses as a whole?」

When Mira asked that, the owner replied plainly saying, 「Really? I didn’t know that,」 and just looked at her. After a short moment of silence, he finally realized what Mira was hinting at and looked startled.

「Wait…then can you also form a Contract with a spirit like that..?」

The moment he came to that realization, countless ideas flashed in his mind, feeling like the whole environment around adventurers was about to change dramatically, and he started getting excited recalling his own time as an adventurer in the past.

「Yes, I can. I actually found one not too long ago, and I formed a Contract with it.」

After confirming that, she began talking about the spirit mansion she could summon.

When she first formed the Contract, it was a rather small building. But as their connection grew stronger, the building also became bigger.

It cost a considerable amount of mana to summon it, but once summoned, it would only allow her and those she deemed as allies to enter, while locking out anyone else. As a summoner, she could also summon guards to keep watch through the night, allowing her to sleep without a worry. The walls of the spirit mansion itself were tough too, so monsters could not break in.

「But more importantly, it has walls and a roof. So no matter where I am, I have shelter from the elements, and I can take a rest safely wherever I am. That’s definitely the biggest advantage.」

Mira explained everything she had learned about it so far. She only skipped the shower, bathroom, toilet, and running water. All of those had only been made possible thanks to the Spirit King’s ability to link spirits, and regular summoners could not do that.

「That’s so incredible. Being able to sleep without worrying about bandits, being surrounded by walls to block any attack, and having shelter from rain or the weather, it’s all so amazing. I can already imagine how much easier it would be to be a traveling merchant if I had a summoner that could summon a house. The whole economy would change completely.」

The owner was impressed by everything that could be done with a spirit mansion. At the same time, his impression of summoners improved a lot too.
