Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer
Chapter 1000: Start Of City CompetitionChapter 1000: Start Of City Competition
By the time Xu Feng finished ordering everything on the menu, he tried to see if Rebecca would flinch even a bit.
And without much surprise, Rebecca didn’t react whatsoever and already started discussing the competitors.
She didn’t even bat an eyelid when she directly used her phone to pay wirelessly on an electronic reader.
"Anyway, I’ve read that the first day of the city competition here has at least 5 cities competing. Besides Avalon City, which other cities are participating?" Rebecca turned to Allison and asked.
She only came here to speak of the reconciliation matter regarding the Divine World, so she hadn’t researched much of the competition.
As for Xu Feng, he was also occupied heavily with the matters in Divine World and only recently got out of his gaming capsule. Hence, he was also somewhat ignorant of the current competition.
Although he had some memories from the past timeline, he wasn’t sure whether this current timeline had any changes or not. Since that was the case, it was best to keep quiet and listen to the expert.
Naturally, the expert here was none other than Allison, who had an uncle directly involved in the city competition.
Who else but her would they raise their questions to?
"The 4 other third-graded cities are Erden, Blumon, Farios, and Lyros," Allison explained. "All the cities are similar in terms of fighters and strength. So it all boils down to who was trained the best and had greater luck. Avalon City wouldn’t have much advantage."
In a fighting competition, it was hard to predict who would win when both competitors were similar in terms of skill and strength.
Thus, Allison’s evaluation was quite normal regarding how much advantage Avalon City had.
However, Xu Feng was certain that Zhao Kai would definitely win. The techniques he imparted to Zhao Kai were some of the finest and rarest combat types.
If the fighter hailed from a first-graded city, then there might be some problems. But granted that each fighter was from a third-graded city, it would be near impossible for them to win.
"So does Avalon City have a chance to be promoted in grade or not?" Rebecca asked in an annoyed tone.
What Allison said was no different than saying nothing at all. Aside from learning about the other cities involved in today’s competition, there was no valuable information.
"It should be fine." Allison clenched her fist and said.
"Forget it," Xu Feng suddenly chimed in.
"The emcee is walking on the stage, so we’ll find out sooner or later." He continued and pointed at the main stage.
Sure enough, an emcee stepped on the main stage and announced loudly.
"Is everyone excited about the upcoming competition?"
"YES!" The crowd responded in fervor.
The crowd was a mix of citizens from all of the involved cities in this particular section of the city competition.
There were many other city competitions taking place and being hosted elsewhere. It just so happened one of them was hosted by Avalon City.
"I’m Peter, your emcee for this competition." The emcee introduced himself once the crowd volume went down a bit. "I won’t stall you any longer and shall introduce the rules. Each fight is randomized by technology and will be shown on the big screen. There will be no manipulation whatsoever!"
Granted that the city competition was a major event, the emphasis on absolute fairness must be shown to the audience and the viewers online. After all, this competition concerned whether their city’s condition and welfare would improve or not.
With all eyes paying attention to the event, only an absolute buffoon would dare to go into corrupt mode.
Needless to say, everything Peter said was a formality and something everyone knew about it long ago.
It didn’t take long before the screen commenced its first drawing.
Erden: Samuel Versus Farios: Liam
As the screen displayed the two fighters, Peter declared excitedly. "We have our first battle. May Samuel from Erden City and Liam from Farios City stepped forward and entered the battle stage."
In the blink of an eye, both fighters arrived on the battle stage and were met with cheering and shouting.
Naturally, the betting pool also became extremely busy.
"Alright, the betting ratio for Liam is 1 to 1.5 and Samuel is 1 to 1. Place your bets!" The person in charge of the betting venue announced loudly.
Without much of a surprise, most people placed their bets on Samuel rather than Liam.
Although the payout ratio was higher for Liam, they weren’t foolish to believe the betting venue was generous. Instead, it was because they knew Liam was slightly inferior to Samuel.
Of course, the betting was usually being placed by the audience with regular tickets, hoping to earn some hustle money.
As for those in the VIP Booths, they had their own set of betting values that numbered in millions or business deals.
And in Xu Feng’s booth, there was a betting screen on display.
"The battle is best of three rounds, so people still have time to place their bets till the 2nd round. But once it reaches that point, the betting value will already be changed." Allison explained the procedure.
Nodding in agreement, Xu Feng was also familiar with the procedure. The only difference was that he used to be a part of the regular audience, and not some VIP audience. Hence, he was a bit taken aback by the extreme disparity.
’A minimum bet is still 500 thousand dollars. The wealthy really operate in a different world.’ Xu Feng nearly choked at the price.
"Shall we do a little betting as well?" Rebecca suddenly suggested. "We can play a little small, so around 3 million. Who do you think is most likely to win?"
"Cough!" Xu Feng quickly coughed upon hearing her so-called small. What do you mean by playing a little small?
"Do you need some water?" Startled, Allison quickly asked in concern. She remained unaware that Xu Feng was coughing because of the money Rebecca suggested in betting.
However, she soon began to realize he must have been dumbfounded by the betting amount. Since Allison was used to Rebecca betting more than 10 million, she didn’t react much to 3 million.
"Right, I forgot you were a poor bumpkin." Allison unconsciously muttered.
