Reincarnated With The Van Helsing System
Chapter 648 - 648: A king’s role (part 10)As much as Reed felt as if his head was going to explode due to both being smashed against the ground in such a brutal way, but also because of the humiliation that it wasn’t done by a weapon that is supposed to work like that like a blunt one, but with a long ranged one, he didn’t have the time to delve into it.
Because the crazy girl who though was having a blast after nearly cracking the skull of the scum that had caused her mother and herself so much trouble, didn’t stop for a second to continue the fight.
“Royal Purple Death Step”, in comparison to the martial art that Sarah used before there was a single word of difference, but that word is “death”, and while the crazy girl is a lot of things, a braggart isn’t one of them.
Purple flames suddenly exploded on Sarah’s right foot as she descended from the air after having smashed Reed against the ground.
Speaking of which, feeling the terrifying killing intent coming from above, the Asmadian Lord’s eyes contracted like needles, his dark pink flames flashed through his eyes as his thinking process accelerating.
It didn’t take him long to realize that he was a step too slow, since he was in the middle of casting his spell but the danger approached way faster than what it should have, resulting in Reed throwing away any pretense of superiority as he rolled on the ground in order to get the leeway to escape from danger.
So, imagine his expression, when he actually got out of the epicenter of the danger he felt, only to see the crazy girl casually landing on the ground a whole two second later than what he predicted, her right foot was still burning in purple flames, but that’s not what’s important, but the black haze that was glowing on her pretty purple eyes.
“What, did you see a ghost~”, mockingly said the crazy girl, which made Reed see red.
‘Did that fucking bitch just tricked me, I had enough time to use my movement spell!’, he inwardly screamed.
What happened is simple, when Sarah called out the name of her martial art, she used her mind destabilizing nether, creating the illusion that her attack was too fast for Reed to properly dodge.
It sounds simple, but don’t forget to take into account the fact that people in this world are used to shout the names of their techniques, since it does fulfill a practical purpose, and so their enemies are used to listen to them, and while the fractions of a second of having a rough idea of what the enemy’s next movement will be like, are not exactly a decisive factor in a fight between two of a similar standing.
That is not the case when dealing with a higher ranked opponent, with a reaction speed that allows it to use that information to his advantage, of course the vast majority can’t do much even with that, unless the difference is abysmal.
But Reed who’s nether is related to the mind is used to make his next movements based on the techniques used by his enemies, or more accurately he uses that to toy with his enemies by coupling it with illusions, mind tricks are a big part of his fighting style after all.
And now, the crazy girl made it so that he would have to deviate his attention from taking advantage of those fractions of a second to make his next move based on the martial art used by the enemy, to guard against her nether, in other words… he was the one being toyed with.
‘Mmm, in terms of reaction time, with royal nether, that guy is actually a bit faster than Sarah, so she forced him to give up one of the really few advantages he has, she surely likes to give people choices with only bad options’, thought Daimon.
As much as he finds it annoying when she uses that wicked mind of hers against him, he had to admit that Sarah is hell smart.
That being said, that wasn’t her main goal, but to see Reed crawl on the ground while rolling for his life, and having achieved her goal she would normally be laughing like a maniac just to rub salt on the wound of the Asmadian Lord, had it not been for the fact that a second ago, she felt her beloved king’s attention focusing on her.
“Hehe~”, she turned around to then throw a kiss in Daimon’s direction, making the latter sigh to his insides.
‘This crazy girl…’, thought Daimon, Sarah made sure to openly flirt with him at every given chance, since she could see Reed burning with anger every time she did so, of course she normally does the same anyway, it’s just that now it served for another purpose, to piss off the Asmadian Lord.
“Ah, it’s a shame I’m still quite inexperienced when it comes to martial arts that use royal nether, I can’t fully utilize both aspects, otherwise, there would have some pretty red stains decorating the walls of this tasteless throne room~”, playfully said the crazy girl, leaving aside the fact that she spoke such scary words with a happy voice that completely didn’t match her intentions, Reed whose eyes were already bloodshot after the humiliation he faced earlier, snorted at her affirmation.
“Nonsense, you might be faster than me in physical terms, but there is no way your thinking process surpasses mine; I was simply tricked by your…”, Reed’s words stuck in his throat as the crazy girl cladded her right foot in purple flames to tap it a couple of times on the ground.
“Crack!”, the ground in a one-hundred-meter area, trembled on the spot, it was as if a giant hammer had fallen from the sky, cracks from within purple flames poured out, extended around Sarah.
As she stated, she is currently unable to fully use all the aspects of her nether with her martial arts, so she either maximizes speed and stealth with her “Royal Purple Step” or goes full offensive with “Royal Purple Death Step”.
Naturally, Reed nearly lost it after seeing the previous, that was a simple action with a part of the body enhanced with battle aura, not a martial art, so based on that he could see that if the crazy girl had released that martial art even at distance, he would have been forcefully buried into the ground due to the mere shockwave.
‘That bitch… how dare she play with me!!!’, roared the Asmadian Lord in his heart, his body exploded in dark pink flames, then as if time was rewound, the swell on his head caused by being smacked with the crossbow earlier, disappeared.
What’s more, the small patch of hair he lost due to it instantly grew back and any trace of blood was also washed away, in a second, he had returned to his prime, but that was only a byproduct of what came next.
“Royal Reinforcement, Pleasure Corroding Helmet”, Reed’s head was cladded in nether which then solidified to form a helmet, thus completely protecting the last exposed part of his body.
“Hoh, is that an application of royal nether, why did the vitality of a lazy ass mage like you suddenly skyrocketed, is this the counterpart of that trick used by that whore queen of yours~”, said the crazy girl as she scanned Reed with her pretty purple eyes, she didn’t even bother to interrupt him, because she was interested in this.
Back then, Sheilla, the queen piece sent by Reed who was a knight used a Manifestation Phenomenon of some sort, with those rose tattoos she gathered the nether of the atmosphere to use it as an external boost.
So, Sarah was curious for a second thinking Reed might be able to use the powers of a knight, but she realized that wasn’t the case when Reed didn’t charge at her, but instead pointed his bow at her.
“Tsk, so it’s just an increase in vitality, oh well that’s even better, it would be a shame if you died too easily”, Sarah’s playful voice was nowhere to be seen, the purple skull behind of her burned with a higher intensity as she charged towards the Asmadian Lord with murderous intent burning in her eyes.
…
Leaving aside the crazy girl, whom Daimon was the least worried about, as he had zero doubts that she could defeat her opponent, unless something really extreme happened, considering she was basically the perfect counter to Reed.
Things got interesting at the left side of the throne room where a certain Nelapsi girl was clashing against the Bane Lord, unlike what one would expect, the only one that hadn’t managed to really wound any of the Lords is Reyne.
A situation that one would expect from Jasmine who wasn’t adept in combat until not too long ago, that being said, it’s definitely not because the Nelapsi girl is weak by any means, what happened is that the Bane Lord is a defense oriented, close combat mage.
Among the three Lords, in terms of offensive, Byron is the strongest, normally Reed is the trickiest and hardest to deal with, but he is being suppressed by Sarah who is totally unpredictable and then Aslan is the strongest in terms of defense, he is a nethereal that is used to fight against large numbers of enemies thanks to his death nether, but can also block single strong opponents, as he is a necromancer, a mix of control and defense which makes it so he could clash head on against Byron without being overwhelmed.
“Royal Black Bone Walls”, a tall frail looking bald man extended his right hand and bones emerged from the ground, separating him from the charge of a blond-haired girl with beautiful crimson eyes.
“Humph!”, with a cold snort, Reyne thrusted her lance which was the Trident of the Storm cladded in her martial art and buffed by Jasmine’s Silver Spear spell.
“Crack!”, the black bone wall instantly shattered under the assault of Reyne’s lance, however a second and third walls of the same nature had already appeared in the lance’s path.
“Booom!”, even then, Reyne’s lance which was a promise level treasure at its core, still pierced through them with relative ease, the problem came after that because a stream of death nether came at Reyne from every direction right away.
“Crimson Shockwave”, Reyne’s left hand was suddenly covered in blood battle aura as she punched frontwards, producing a thunderous explosion that blasted away the death nether into smithereens.
“Clang!”, just in time for her to sweep her lance sidewards to stop the thrust of the black bone spear of the Bane Lord.
“Royal Black Bone Hands”, however the Bane Lord hadn’t ended his assault, black bones emerged from the ground forming two giant hands that aimed to restrain the Nelapsi girl, making Reyne’s eyes glow in a fierce red light.
“Crimson Surge!”, with a loud roar and Reyne as the center, an explosion of blood battle aura expanded in every direction, forcing the Bane Lord to retreat while the black bone hands were smashed into bits due to the impact.
Aslan who though unscathed felt an uncomfortable sensation all over his body, landed a few meters away to then curse in his heart.
‘What the hell, how does she have so much damn vitality, my death nether is melted like nothing and those aren’t normal bones I’m using, but the ones from the challengers that made it the furthest against our subordinates, they have been impregnated by death nether for years at this point!’.
Naturally it makes no sense that Reyne who if we leave aside nether, could put up a proper fight against Sarah, in terms of close combat, was unable to land a proper hit on the Bane Lord.
He was resorting to use the countless bones buried he buried below the castle to reinforce his basic low effort spells, enough to fight quality with quantity, it’s also worth mentioning that while Byron is the strongest in terms of offense, the most experienced of the three Lords is Aslan as he is the oldest among them.
So, while on the outside he was performing well against Reyne, the truth is that he was resorting to a lot of external means in order to do so, and that was humiliating for him.
On the other hand, Reyne was feeling frustrated at the current situation.
‘I could definitely land a punch or two on him if I want to, but they would deal minor damage at most, I’m definitely strong enough to ultimately break through that guy’s defenses but I’m lacking… explosiveness’, thought the Nelapsi girl.
From the corner of her eyes, she could see Sarah toying with the Asmadian Lord, if the crazy girl wanted to, she could at least take an arm from his enemy at any given time, but she sought to damage him more than in a physical way.
‘As annoying as she is, I can’t help but admit that her energy manipulation talent is overwhelmingly high, she can use both the positive and negative sides of the nether spectrum and even balance them both to produce that royal nether of hers, Jas is on the way to learn how to use hers by focusing on the extreme positive, but I… why can’t I progress with mine’, she thought as she tightened her grip on her lance.
There is no need Reyne to compare herself with Sarah, she was born to wield nether, it is highly unlikely that there exists someone that surpasses her in terms of nether manipulation, in her range of age.
However, that doesn’t mean her sister’s talent is inferior to hers, their specialty simply lies in other fields, Jasmine for example is an incredibly fast learner and she is a unique case of a light element netherial that also used a positive emotion as the base of her nether, her mastery over nether is increasing with every clash she has against the Balax Lord, so Reyne has zero doubts that she’ll be able to use royal nether for a spell soon, without having to rely on her crown.
But the Nelapsi girl has been unable to find a way to progress on that aspect, she simply hasn’t been able to “feel” the same way as when she obtained that crown innate ability, thus as of current she has fallen behind the light princess in terms of expertise with nether, even though she awakened it first.
Don’t misunderstand, she is not jealous nor bears any ill emotion towards Jasmine, in the slightest, it’s more of a situation where she feels frustrated because how can she protect her younger sister if she isn’t growing stronger, there is also the huge gap she realized existed between herself and the silver haired girl, who appears to be the closest to the one she wants to walk alongside with.
It’s not like she is completely lost, she knows how to progress with his blood element, however she has refused to do so, because her instincts as a knight and a nelapsi tell her, that she will regret taking that path.
To put in simple words, the Nelapsi girl was burning with the desire to become stronger, Reyne was brought back to the real world by the Bane Lord’s mocking words.
“Come on, what happened to that fierce attitude of yours, is an insane vitality the only thing you inherited from that woman?”, he said referring to Jessica, up to this day the Bane Lord still finds it hard to believe that a mere mortal who had given birth not too long ago was able to survive after receiving his strongest attack, and also made sure to protect the baby she was still carrying.
He is after all, a proud member of the Death faction and his noble house holds the reputation of never leaving any lose ends, when they are dispatched to attack planets, they completely exterminate everything and everyone, because that’s how they grow stronger, they spread death wherever they go, hence why a unit from their family is always present in the battlefields of the netherial race.
And yet, he one of the princes of the Death faction, committed a really horrible mistake.
“Mother…”, naturally Reyne wouldn’t fall for such a low-level taunt, but the words of the Bane Lord did make her think about her mother, if she was Jasmine the one that would come to mind would be Jessica of course.
But Reyne did grow up having a mother, or more accurately two of them, so for her, the images of Jeanne and Emily were what came to mind, before the appearance of Jessica which she came to know thanks to the portraits of her daughter that Aurora had, flashed through Reyne’s mind.
‘Hoh, would you look at that~’, thought the crazy girl as she casually dodged a nether arrow as she stole a gaze at her cute sister in the middle before focusing on her fight again.
She wasn’t the only one that suddenly gained interest on the nelapsi girl, a certain girl with black and white hair who had a ghost-like body as of current, couldn’t help but smile from within the vessel that accommodated her soul.
Feeling a chilling sensation running down his spine, he instinctively mobilized his nether as he thrusted his black bone spear, the very moment the blond-haired girl disappeared from his plain view.
“Royal Black Death Thrust!”, with death nether cladding his magic weapon, the Bane Lord felt as if a mountain had been thrown at him, as he clashed with the blood lance that appeared out of nowhere.
“Clang!”, that being said, he did manage to parry the attack, which meant that his defensive fighting style hadn’t failed him, though he was indeed surprised by the sudden increase in the strength of the enemy, since his hands felt a bit numb after that exchange.
“Black Bone Walls”, like before, with a single sentence, black bone walls emerged from the ground, forcefully putting distance between the Bane Lord and Reyne, which meant that her assault was interrupted.
However, unlike the previously annoyed expression, the Nelapsi girl had a bright smile on her pretty face, as she spoke her next words.
“Royal Crimson Flame…”, then a wisp of a blood red colored flame ignited on the shoulder of the Bane Lord whose eyes contracted like needles.
“Shi…”, his curse was interrupted by Reyne adding.
“Bloodburn”, the small wisp of red fire on the shoulder of the Bane Lord extinguished, bringing him a subconscious sensation of relief, thinking that the enemy overestimated herself, leading to her attempt of using royal nether to fail miserably, before his instincts screamed danger, however it was too late.
“Booooom!”.
“Aghhhhhhh!”.
A thunderous explosion followed by a miserable scream were what came next, the horribly pained voice behind that scream was so loud that it actually forced the other two Lords who were having their own fights, stop to look in the direction of the origin of said scream.
There they were welcomed with the sight of a Bane Lord who came out of a veil of smoke, with… a missing arm.
‘She might have been the last one to land a proper hit, but that was one hell of a result, not like that is what matters right now, what a competitive nelapsi girl’, amusingly thought Daimon as he saw Reyne who didn’t chase after the Bane Lord who was retreating in panic.
She wasn’t affected by the explosion of earlier in the slightest, the only difference between the Reyne of a few seconds ago and the current Reyne were… her eyes.
Her blood red pupils which are the symbol of she having changed to her Nelapsi form, now had a few green spots mixed into them, well that and the fact that her blood battle aura which had a solid form, was now burning.
As the lance burning in red flames which she was holding with her right hand, suggested, speaking of which, the lance’s width had been reduced by around in half, meaning that she had used half of the blood battle aura she had imbued into the Trident of the Storm, for that attack with which she blasted away the arm of the Bane Lord.
‘To think I would get to see a perfect candidate to inherit my Ivory family’s legacy, born after the lineage had thinned down to the extreme and after the intervention of another race, looks like you are not only handsome but way more dangerous than what I expected~’, said Joanna in a voice that only Daimon could hear.
