Chapter 2269: Chapter 2269: No Need to Run So Fast

"The Wen Family, what audacity!"

On top of a large tree stood two men. The man in white, watching Mr. Wen leave, narrowed his eyes and spoke softly as he stared at the figure’s departing back.

"Young master, should we follow him?"

The man in black standing beside him, wearing a purple mask, asked respectfully.

The Wen Family truly had nerves of steel. Despite being just a small, insignificant family, they actually dared to target Jun Lin Hall.

From the sound of it, they even seemed to have intentions toward Demon Heart Hall. What do they want to obtain? It was really unexpected. That supposedly meek and spineless Head of the Wen Family actually had such boldness?

"Does it even matter if we follow or not?"

The man in white turned to look at him and asked softly.

No matter who in the Wen Family had ordered this self-proclaimed Mr. Wen or came up with this idea, there was no escaping the fate of total annihilation for their entire clan, wouldn’t you agree?

Do they think Jun Lin Hall is a place they can come and go as they please? Do they think stealing something from there is so simple?

"Forget it, you should still follow him. What if he’s not actually from the Wen Family?"

After some thought, he gave orders to his secret guard. Perhaps this was someone else from the major clans, merely using the guise of the Wen Family to act without exposing themselves.

Those people were quite unlucky to encounter such a person, sending them to involve themselves in Jun Lin Hall’s affairs.

"Yes, young master."

The man in black received the command and immediately leaped away in pursuit of Mr. Wen.

The man in white: "..."

Did he really need to rush off so quickly? They hadn’t even discussed where to regroup yet.

He had gone through so much trouble to sneak out of the house, all for the sake of some leisure. Returning home wasn’t an option, was it? Or was he supposed to just sit atop this tree and wait endlessly?

Neither sounded appealing. He didn’t have the patience to sit here sipping on the wind from the northwest!

"This big oaf in black, why is he still so careless?"

"Young master, who are you talking about?"

Suddenly, a familiar voice appeared behind him, scaring the man in white so much that he almost missed his footing and fell off the tree.

Luckily, the voice was familiar; otherwise, he might have very well been frightened to death.

"Weren’t you gone? Why did you come back?"

He raised a hand to his chest, trying to calm his wildly pounding heart that had been startled.

"Young master, you never told me where we should meet up later." The man in black looked at his young master with a serious expression, reminding him.

The man in white: "..."

He didn’t even have the chance to say earlier. Could he stop giving him that look, as if he had done something wrong?

"Let’s meet just outside Jun Lin Hall. I heard Qian Jiyun has returned, and he even brought back a son. I have to go see what that little fellow looks like."

He thought for a moment before replying.

"Understood. I’ll go after that man now." The man in black acknowledged the command and this time truly left.

"Sigh."

The man in white let out a light sigh.

Why was his life so difficult? At home, his parents kept pressuring him to marry. Now that he’d finally escaped, he ended up with a secret guard like this dimwit following him around.

"Might as well head to Jun Lin Hall. There could be something fun to see."

As he spoke, he jumped down from the tree and strode out of the forest. Thanks to the connections he had pulled, he had heard that Qian Jiyun’s son was extraordinarily adorable. He had to go check it out as soon as possible.

Ideally, he could even kidnap the boy to take along with him on leisurely travels.
