A piercing, irritating sound like metal scraping swept through the air. Aggron’s Trainer thought this would prevent Beautifly from powering up, as the range of Metal Sound’s attack was too broad to be dodged by mere agile movements.
However, they underestimated Beautifly’s current Quiver Dance speed!
By the time Aggron’s Trainer realized what was happening and gave the order—plus the time it took Aggron to actually use Metal Sound—Beautifly had already completed Quiver Dance, and its aura underwent a huge change.
Immediately afterward, a silk thread was spat out, and using the swift air currents, instantly formed a cocoon around Beautifly as it sealed itself within. With a buzzing sound, Metal Sound swept past, and the cocoon was sliced open by two wind blades, revealing Beautifly once again. It casually flapped its wings, sending a Silver Wind toward Aggron.
“Use Stun Spore.”
Terrance gave the next order. The skill demonstrated in the Pokémon Contest could now be perfectly applied in actual combat. The astonished expressions of the audience showed how incredible it was to see a cocoon formed by silk threads used to defend against Metal Sound.
The key point was that Beautifly completed all of this at an astonishing speed, leaving no gaps for anyone to notice any pause in its movements. It seemed as though Beautifly had mastered the art of seamlessly transitioning between moves.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh~~
Silver Wind swept past. Given Aggron’s size and reaction speed, dodging was simply impossible.
Aggron’s Trainer looked tense, unable to come up with a countermeasure in that brief moment.Fortunately, Aggron took the Silver Wind head-on without suffering significant damage—perhaps not even minor damage.
This Silver Wind was merely a by-product of Beautifly’s Quiver Dance and a reuse of leftover energy, its offensive power greatly diminished compared to a direct, fully executed Silver Wind.
Abandoning any attempt to counter Silver Wind, Aggron’s Trainer focused entirely on Beautifly’s next move—Stun Spore.
“Use Mud-Slap to block the Stun Spore!”
The Stun Spore scattered by Beautifly mixed into the wind, blowing toward Aggron like a flowing stream.
After Aggron’s Trainer issued the command, his expression suddenly changed. The neatly distributed Stun Spore was immediately blown apart by a strange gust after Aggron hurled the mud.
In the next moment, the spores filled the air, dense and chaotic.
However, this wasn’t what worried Aggron’s Trainer. His expression changed because, after that, it seemed as if the Stun Spore was being manipulated by the wind, gaining countless possible patterns of movement. Aggron’s Mud-Slap attack was utterly incapable of blocking the countless spores that scattered and reformed at will.
“Now, fire!”
A blazing white light tore through the air.
Seeing the aggressive Stun Spore approaching, Aggron’s Trainer initially planned to go all out and endure the Stun Spore again while using a powerful move to directly attack Beautifly, hoping to take a gamble.
However, he didn’t expect that Beautifly, after completing Stun Spore, had already initiated a new round of attack!
No—if it was this move, then both he and Aggron were at least two steps behind Terrance’s pace!
If you are one step slow, every step after would be slower.
Carrying intense energy, the Solar Beam descended from the sky, showing that Beautifly had been accumulating energy for a while.
With its antennas gently swaying, Beautifly danced gracefully through the air, accompanied by a resounding boom.
Boom!!!
Although four months was a short time, it had been enough for Terrance to slightly compensate for Beautifly’s lack of explosive power while further enhancing its coordination skills!
The Solar Beam, boosted by Quiver Dance, caused a massive shockwave. Aggron on the opposite side didn’t even have a chance to struggle before being struck directly in the face and knocked over completely!
Bang!
The heavy body crashed to the ground, and Terrance and Beautifly knew the outcome was already decided.
“Aggron is unable to battle, so…” Scarlet announced the result, and Aggron was recalled by its Trainer.
The room fell silent once again.
This is really… no matter which Pokémon he sent out, their strength was terrifying.
Even a mere Beautifly, a Pokémon commonly found throughout Hoenn, had been trained to such an incredible level.
For a while, no challenger stepped forward, but after Scarlet urged them, a Trainer eventually made their way onto the arena.
The result… was unsurprising. They lost as well.
Then, Beautifly swiftly defeated another Trainer’s Pokémon. Despite their decent strength—comparable to the previous Aggron—they still weren’t a match for Beautifly.
With this, Beautifly achieved a triple victory, leaving many observing Trainers speechless.
At that moment, Terrance was suddenly drawn to a commotion nearby. It turned out that Arcanine, after receiving swift treatment from Nurse Joy, had recovered its stamina and returned.
“Want to battle again? Very well.”
Terrance assessed Arcanine’s condition. Although it wasn’t in peak form, thanks to the expensive Potion and Chansey’s treatment, it wasn’t far from full strength.
Given Arcanine’s fighting style, having slightly less stamina didn’t make much of a difference. Like Gallade, Arcanine specialized in one-hit knockout strategy. However, while Gallade relied on surprise attacks, Arcanine’s strength lay in its overwhelming, instantaneous burst of power.
In that case, unless the opponent is someone on the level of Brawly, Roxanne, or one of the Champion League contestants, it should still be easy to handle.
“Beautifly, take a break for now. Next up, Arcanine.”
Although it only had one battle, Arcanine, despite having enjoyed the fight, still had the fire in its heart urging it to battle even more.
One battle wasn’t enough to satisfy it after four long months of training.
“Golem versus Arcanine!”
After their previous battle, Terrance’s fighting style when sending out Arcanine had already been figured out. There were quite a few Trainers who tried sending out heavyweight Pokémon like Golem, hoping to use their type and weight advantage to suppress Arcanine. However, the results proved that no matter how much they calculated, in the face of absolute strength, they couldn’t change the outcome.
In the arena, Terrance’s next opponent looked tense.
“Extreme Speed, Flare Blitz!”
Terrance rarely misjudged the training level of his opponent’s Pokémon. His expertise as a Breeder allowed him to quickly assess the approximate strength of his opponent’s Pokémon at a glance—whether it was from their growth state, aura, physique, or the physical structure; all these factors served as criteria for Terrance to evaluate their strength.
Of course, Terrance wasn’t infallible. This only applied when the opposing Pokémon were ones he was familiar with.
If the opponent sent out unique Pokémon from regions like Unova, Kalos, or even Alola, Terrance’s breeder expertise would be less effective.
Additionally, against Pokémon raised using special methods, there was still a chance Terrance might misjudge them. However, this almost never happened when he was facing Trainers of the same age group.
This ability to gauge the opponent’s Pokémon’s training level also gave Terrance a reference point for how much power of his Pokémon to hold back during battles.
Bang!
Arcanine’s figure blurred, and after a surge of flames, it instantly disappeared, transforming into a fiery shadow that slammed into Golem, flipping it over. Even with Golem’s high defense, the sheer explosive power and impact were too much to withstand, and this was without Arcanine even using Outrage.
“Amazing!”
The crowd of Trainers couldn’t help but express their admiration, marveling at how Arcanine still had the strength to unleash such power.
Unbeknownst to them, after defeating Golem, Arcanine had defeated yet another opponent.
