Chapter 1374: Chapter 1371: County Magistrate Yang

Madam Liu also understood his temperament, “Then you go back first, and I’ll go with Lil’ Jin.”

Accompanied by Zhang Cong, the grandmother and grandson quickly arrived at the northern city residence.

“Wow, even the main door is finished?” Madam Liu was somewhat surprised; when she had last visited, only the white walls had been painted, and they were still demolishing walls and processing beams and pillars inside, so there was quite a bit of dust, and Madam Liu had since lost interest in coming.

She hadn’t expected that in such a short time, even the main door would be done.

“The main gate is quite wide, so I made four doors,” said Zhang Cong.

The plaque above the main door had not yet been hung and would only reveal its true identity after the ribbon-cutting ceremony on the opening day.

Zhang Cong walked ahead, opened the door, and stood aside to let Madam Liu and Chu Jin enter first.

Chu Jin took over the lantern.

Zhang Cong quickly went to light the two oil lamps at the entrance.

He then lit the other oil lamps nearby, surrounding the entire shop with a total of eighteen oil lamps, which clearly revealed the size of the shop, a good one to two hundred square meters.

Once the oil lamps were lit, the shop appeared both spacious and bright.

“This, isn’t this too big?” Madam Liu was astounded, walking around the shop; there were columns in the middle, and above, on the beams of the ceiling, there were four pieces of colored glaze tiles every three meters.

“With such a large shop, no wonder it can accommodate all the goods.” After completing a round, Madam Liu asked, “Lil’ Jin, how do you plan to arrange the shelves?”

“I’ll place the shelves along the walls, and in the center, around the columns, I’ll display fresh vegetables.”

“That’s a good idea. If you avoid the columns, they would obstruct the flow, so it’s better to place the racks around them. In doing so, it will look beautiful and the columns won’t be too obstructive.”

Chu Jin smiled and nodded, “Exactly.”

“The furniture and shelves that were ordered should be ready to pick up tomorrow; fortunately, my second uncle is helping out, otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to get so much made.”

Madam Liu was quite interested in the opening of his business: “When do you plan to open? I’ll come to support you.”

“I’ve had someone consult with the abbot of Deming Temple to pick an auspicious date, and the day after tomorrow is a good one,” said Chu Jin.

Chu Jin had considered all these miscellaneous matters when he started preparing and so didn’t need to rush to deal with them now.

Seeing his comprehensive planning, Madam Liu wasn’t worried anymore.

When they returned home, Madam Liu and Chu Zhiwen relaxed their feet together and were full of praise for Chu Jin.

“This child isn’t bad, right?”

Chu Zhiwen nodded, “I was never worried about Lil’ Jin.”

“When the market opens, I also want to line up to buy some chicken wing tips to take home. In the past, I liked to eat them when there was no meat available. Now that we’re living well, I’ve found it’s not the meat that’s tasty; it’s the seasoning.”

“It seems to me you’ve been spoiled by Ah Yu’s culinary skills,” Madam Liu looked at him disapprovingly, “But, Ah Yu also taught me how to marinate chicken feet, wing tips, and duck feet. Later on, we can sell these kinds of cooked foods in Lil’ Jin’s shop. If business is good, I reckon it could attract quite a lot of customers. Think about it, after browsing for a while and seeing something suitable, won’t they buy it?”

Chu Zhiwen smacked his lips: “Really, if it were me, I would definitely buy.”

“Let’s suggest this to Lil’ Jin tomorrow.”

“Right, about Ah Sheng and Ah Zhang’s marriage arrangements, how are you finding things?”

“Ah Zhang’s marriage is showing some promise,” said Madam Liu, her eyes sparkling with joy.

“What marriage has made you so happy?” Chu Zhiwen knew her all too well; it must be quite the favorable match to please her so much.

Madam Liu thought for a moment and decided not to keep it a secret.
