Online Game: I Started with Max Charisma and Caught the Goddess's Eye
Chapter 361 - 361: The Bloodstained Note! The Power Behind It! Success! After finishing his words, Marx didn’t linger in the dungeon any longer. He turned and left without giving Leipoder a chance for regret.
“Damn it!” Leipoder slammed his fist into the door of the cell, the dull thud of the impact echoing loudly, but leaving no trace.
Bright red blood began to drip from his hand, but he seemed unaware, his teeth clenched tightly. He glared fiercely at Marx’s retreating figure through the window, his hatred so intense he wished he could tear him apart piece by piece.
If it hadn’t been for Marx, he wouldn’t have ended up in this situation. He wouldn’t have left his daughter helpless, stranded and alone.
But alas, it was too late for regrets. Leipoder slumped down onto the floor. If he obeyed Zenith’s arrangements, he might still find a sliver of hope. Otherwise, his daughter would be doomed. But if they got hold of the core technology for creating artificial monsters… who knew how many people would die because of it?
After all, the game’s arrival had been orchestrated by these very people. These beasts were nothing but a group of madmen, willing to plunge the entire world into chaos just to achieve their goals.
While Leipoder struggled with his emotions, he suddenly felt something strange in his hand, an unfamiliar sensation that made him freeze.
His reflexes were sharp, and in the next instant, he realized exactly what it was.
His heart raced, but without revealing any sign of his discovery, he quickly hid the object and pretended to be a broken man. He got up slowly, sat down on the bed, and covered his face in anguish, his shoulders trembling as if he were sobbing.
No one noticed that he had quickly read a bloodstained note and silently swallowed it.
…
Meanwhile, John and Doe followed Marx out of the dungeon.
Seeing that Marx seemed to be in a bad mood, John tried to flatter him, saying, “Professor, don’t worry. Even without Leipoder’s technology, with your abilities, you’ll definitely be able to create the perfect artificial monster.”
John chimed in, “That’s right. Let Leipoder enjoy his little victory for now. Once we bring that little girl over from the Imperial Capital.”
“Even if we don’t ask, he’ll beg us to give him that research.”
“You idiots don’t understand anything!” Marx sneered coldly. “Back when we followed our teacher, this guy’s talent in biological science was so far ahead of the rest of us, we couldn’t even catch up.”
“There were discoveries and insights that even our teacher found astounding.”
“If the technology he holds in his hands could be so easily replicated, do you think I would have gone through all this trouble?”
In simple terms, unless Leipoder voluntarily teaches them all his technology, even capturing Tracer will not help Marx obtain the complete artificial monster technology. This was because Marx had already tried to break through Leipoder’s artificial monster technology before, and the current monstrous state he was in was the cost of that attempt.
Running his hand through his white hair, Marx’s anxiety grew stronger. Although he had temporarily stabilized the restless monster genes in his body with his knowledge and Zenith’s resources.
This state couldn’t last much longer. If he couldn’t find a solution within six months, even with Zenith’s help in suppressing it, he would likely be doomed. Unless, of course, he was willing to become a monster himself.
“I must accelerate the process,” Marx thought to himself, his eyes flashing with cold determination. He didn’t want to die yet, so no matter the cost, he had to obtain the complete artificial monster technology.
He strode toward the laboratory, while instructing John and Doe, “You two, head to the lab. We’re getting ready to…”
Pfft!
A faint sound suddenly rang out, and Marx’s steps abruptly stopped. He looked down, only to see two hands piercing through his chest.
A puddle of black blood splattered onto the ground. John and Doe, with expressionless faces, their eyes glowing with purple energy, swiftly withdrew their hands.
Pfft! A black heart, radiating a foul stench of decay, appeared in John’s hand, still beating as it pulsed.
Blood dripped steadily onto the floor. Passing lab technicians stood frozen in shock, unable to comprehend why John and Doe had suddenly betrayed them.
Marx’s expression darkened instantly, becoming incredibly grim.
Boom!!
A violent surge of black Demonic energy erupted from Marx’s body, sending John and Doe flying backward. They crashed to the ground with a loud crunch of bones and lay motionless for a long time, unable to get up.
“You…” Marx turned to face John and Doe, his gaze cold enough to freeze. His killing intent was so intense it seemed to materialize. The temperature in the hallway outside the laboratory dropped sharply, the chilling air sending a shiver down everyone’s spine.
The sharp sound of an alarm rang throughout the corridor as John and Doe shakily rose to their feet.
They didn’t respond. John looked down at the heart in his hand, still desperately trying to beat even though it had been severed from its original body. He muttered to himself, “The vitality is truly strong…”
Marx’s heart sank at those words. The voice sounded too young, definitely not John’s original voice. They had been controlled!
“Who are you? How did you find this place?” Marx asked warily.
At the same time, the commotion caught the attention of the laboratory guards. Soon, a group of guards dressed in bronze armor with cold, stern faces rushed in, completely surrounding John and Doe.
“I knew something was off with you two. I never expected you to be spies!” Rephovers, in the crowd, pointed at them with an expression of fear and then waved her arms, commanding the group of bronze guards. “What are you waiting for? Hurry up and take them down!”
The bronze guards, however, couldn’t care less about this foul woman.
Seeing that John and Doe were no longer capable of resistance, the leader of the guards turned to Marx and asked, “Professor Marx, what should we do with these two?”
Marx paused for a moment and then said, “Let’s wait for Minister Ric to come before making any decisions.”
It was the first time anyone had managed to find their way into Zenith’s underground laboratory. Marx had no idea who had sent them, but they needed to figure out who they were and deal with this threat as quickly as possible.
Just as the bronze guard was about to carry out his orders, John and Doe, who had been standing still, suddenly moved.
A burst of purple light exploded from their bodies, and with a powerful push from their legs, they darted through the air like sharp blades, charging directly into the crowd.
“Ahhh!!!” The sight of these two lunatics charging at them left the laboratory personnel frozen in shock. Rephovers, especially, was so frightened her face turned pale, and she started running toward the exit in a panic.
But whether it was just a feeling or not, she realized that it seemed like these two were specifically targeting her. No matter where she ran, she couldn’t escape them.
“You—! You—!” she screamed in terror as she looked back at John and Doe, about to threaten them, but before she could speak, a dark shadow rushed toward her.
And then, everything went black.
Boom!!
Purple radiance erupted from John and Doe’s bodies, engulfing the nearby laboratory personnel and bronze guards.
Rephovers didn’t even have time to finish her sentence before she was reduced to a pile of mangled flesh.
Marx, in the instant, mobilized his internal power to form a protective shield around him. Two deafening crashes reverberated through the night air, sending shockwaves so powerful that the ground itself trembled.
People in the Imperial Capital thought it was an earthquake. Only a few powerful individuals, with expressions of shock, turned their gazes toward Dragon Gate Mountain in the darkness, their hearts filled with awe.
The others had no idea what was happening there, but they knew.
“Something’s happened at Dragon Gate Mountain?!” Drumph and the senior executives, who were in a meeting, looked on in disbelief. They couldn’t have imagined that Zenith’s branch in Summer Country would be facing trouble at this moment.
“Could Zenith be making a new move?” asked an elderly man with a short stature and long eyebrows, his voice deep and steady.
A burly man in military uniform, frowning, replied, “There’s no way such a huge disturbance would come from Dragon Gate Mountain for no reason. Something must have happened at the top. What exactly, though, I’m not sure.”
After a brief moment of thought, Drumph suggested, “Whatever the cause, we need to gather the Imperial Capital’s guard, the military, and Morning Star’s people to be on standby and ready for any unforeseen situation.”
This suggestion was quickly agreed upon by everyone.
Soon, the entire Imperial Capital was in motion, with orders being issued one after another, and the entire city went into a state of full alert.
…
Meanwhile, all the bronze guards and security personnel on Dragon Gate Mountain were drawn to the massive disturbance and rushed toward the underground laboratory.
However, no one noticed a shadow, dark as night, swiftly descending the mountain.
Luca’s figure moved quickly through the darkness, evading one bronze guard after another and the members of the mountain patrol team heading upward.
Wrapped in shadows, he also carried a crystal emitting a radiant, multicolored glow.
It was the Primordial Crystal!
Originally, John and Doe could have remained hidden a little longer.
The reason Luca had them expose themselves so early was to draw attention away from him, giving him the opportunity to pry the Primordial Crystal from the statue.
The plan had worked perfectly. He had successfully retrieved the crystal.
This was a huge success.
Now, all that remained was to safely escape from Dragon Gate Mountain.
However, as fate would have it, just as Luca was nearing the base of the mountain.
He was forced to stop in his tracks.
A middle-aged man in a suit stood alone in his path.
The man’s gaze was calm and unwavering, his eyes seemingly unfazed by the darkness around him. His eyes, however, locked onto Luca’s shadow, and beneath his composed expression lay a chilling killing intent, as if a violent storm was about to break.
It was Ric, the man Luca had seen earlier in the laboratory!
