The Frost Elves traversed the snowy lands with ease because of their innate trait called Snow Walkers. The Frost Elves could traverse any lands covered with ice and snow quickly and easily. They also do not lose any stamina if they are walking on snow and reduced stamina cost when running in snowy terrain.

They entered a special domain hidden in the depths of the Northern Continent. A place that can only be entered by Frost Elves that have a shard of the Winter Tree. The Frost Elf Leader raised his sword and the barrier that separated the dimension shown itself to them. The dimension veiled in eternal snow appeared before them and the Frost Elves entered with their captives.

“Melt them but make sure that the Forest Guardian must regain some life. He cannot be sacrificed if he is frozen.” The Frost Elf Leader stated as the frost elves hidden in the snowy territory emerged.

About three more individuals that bear the same power as the Frost Elf Leader showed up. They were all amazed by the immense radiant life energy that the frozen Levin Cloud had. As if they were all in agreement, the Frost Elf leaders nodded to each other as the start of their era has now come.

“To think that we no longer have to endure using the blood of the impure.” One of the Frost Elf Leaders stated as she looked like a mage due to her clothing.

“We are still not sure that this will break the curse. The Eternally Starved One’s words cannot be treated as true.” The Frost Elf Elder Leader that has a bow behind him stated.

“Whether his words are true or not will only be proven once we have done the ritual.” The Frost Elf Leader that held the sword stated.

“The agonizing curse from the winter tree would soon be destroyed as all of it will be transferred to the Forest Guardian. The Winter Tree demands a sacrifice for what we have done but that was necessary for our kind to survive.” The Frost Elf Mage Leader stated but that is not what really happened.

The Winter Tree in their view is no longer the pure large tree that looked like a frozen masterpiece. It was now a tree that has been tainted because of the hunger for power that the Frost Elves back then had. The Winter Tree is now a Tree of Death that has been tainted due to the taboo that the Frost Elves had done. They used a forbidden spell that sacrificed the body of the Frost Elemental King to the Winter Tree.

A forbidden spell that was given to them by a distorted god that wanted to descend unto the Northern Continent. In exchange for the descent of the Distorted God, the Frost Elves would become empowered by the Distorted God of Frigid Frost. They would become more powerful than other elves that bowed down to the Faekin.

The Frost Elves or rather the Frost High Elves that led the operation managed to poison the Winter Tree using a poison given by a distorted god. When the Winter Tree was poisoned, the Frost Elemental King that served as its guardian suddenly appeared before them to destroy those that poisoned the Winter Tree. The Frost High Elves were not fully aware of the Frost Elemental King, but they knew that there was a powerful being guarding the Winter Tree.

The Frost High Elves also came prepared to deal with the Frost Elemental King as the Distorted God of Frigid Frost has informed them of the guardian. As soon as the Frost Elemental King appeared before the Frost High Elves, they released flames filled with tainted energy that directly hit and weakened the Frost Elemental King. With the Winter Tree and the Frost Elemental King weakened, the Frost High Elves proceeded to do the forbidden ritual.

The Distorted God of Frigid Frost told the Frost High Elves to sacrifice the energy of both the Winter Tree and the Frost Elemental King to them. As soon as the forbidden spell activated, the energies of the weakened Winter Tree and Frost Elemental King immediately got sent straight to the sky. A world barrier was pierced and a large being with a twisted appeared from the gate and slowly descended.

The Frost Elemental King knew that his own energy was being used to help the distorted god to descend which is why he attempted to destroy himself entirely to stop what was happening. As the Frost Elemental King thought of the most extreme measure, the Winter Tree suddenly conveyed its thoughts to the guardian. Even if the Frost Elemental King destroys himself, the Distorted God will still be able to descend due to the energy of the Winter Tree.

The Winter Tree proposed a different solution which the Frost Elemental King could only accept given the situation that they were in. This solution would prevent the distorted god from descending and also punish the Frost Elves that betrayed them. The only downside to this would be the fact that the northern continent would be a land covered in harsher winters than ever before. Still, this downside is much better than having a distorted god descend unto the northern continent and let it be destroyed by the said distorted god.

The Frost Elemental King and the Winter Tree used most of their life forces and created a curse that affected the entire Frost Elf species. The Frost Elves were afflicted with the Curse of Eternal Winter. The Frost Elves became more robust when it came to winter, but they also burned when exposed to any form of heat. This curse is also passed down to any frost elf descendant even if they were halfblooded.

When the life force that was supposed to flow towards the distorted god suddenly got transferred to the Frost Elves, the forbidden ritual backfired and killed most of the Frost High Elves that casted it. This also meant that the descent of the distorted god is reversed and a small nail that got cut off when the world barrier is restored is living proof of this. This small nail is now a hill that is inside the special dimension of the Winter Tree.

The Curse of Eternal Winter also has a very nasty effect that the Frost Elves later known. Living beings should always retain heat even if they are now weakened from it. If the Frost Elves embraced the cold to the utmost and their body heat becomes zero, then they will eventually turn into ice sculptures. The Frost Elves themselves will die because all of their body parts will cease to function as no heat can be generated from their bodies.

This is the true effects of the Curse of Eternal Winter that the Winter Tree and the Frost Elemental King used on them. This curse would forever be active as long as the Winter Tree and the Frost Elemental King are alive. The curse would have ended if they were gone but they were alive because of the way they casted the curse. The Winter Tree and the Frost Elemental King fused together which significantly slowed down the drain on their life forces which is being used to keep casting the curse.

The poison that weakened the Winter Tree also became frozen in place because of this which is why the pool of black liquid beneath it could still be seen frozen in time. The Frost High Elves that were proud and numerous in number dropped to just three as some became ice sculptures while some sacrificed themselves to weaken the fused Winter Tree and the Frost Elemental King. The sacrifice of the other Frost High Elves slowed down the effects of the curse which proved useful when the sun shines on the northern continent.

When the number of Frost High Elves dropped to three, they immediately knew they cannot be sacrificed anymore, or their entire species would die without a High Elf leading them. Instead, the Frost High Elves stumbled upon humans possessing the blood of the Frost Elemental King. If they sacrificed humans with the blood of the Frost Elemental King, they would have same effect when a high elf sacrifices themselves but with shortened duration.

The sudden abduction of tribal warriors in the northern continent is proof of this as they could be seen frozen like ice statues around the weakened Winter Tree. One ice statue in particular could be recognized as the first Great Mother of the Northern Continent. The Great Mother Winter was eventually captured which explained her disappearance as the stories about her told that she died in battle.

All of this information flowed inside the head of Levin Cloud as parts of his body has been thawed. He was moved close to the Winter Tree while he was being thawed. This triggered a special ability that Forest Guardians have which is called Memory of the Tree. He learned everything that happened to the Winter Tree and the curse that the frost elves have been afflicted with.
