Chapter 5810 Chaotic Battle
Explosive rumbles echoed through the air. The moment Long Chen heard them, an overwhelming Blood Qi surged across the sky. Looking up, he saw a massive army of demonic beasts being pursued by an even larger horde of strange lifeforms.
These lifeforms looked somewhat similar to the human race, but their bodies were thinner, almost skeletal. A pair of translucent wings extended from their backs, and they wielded eerie white bone blades. Their deep, hollow eye sockets radiated a dark, ferocious energy.
“The Evil Spirit race?”
Long Chen was startled. He didn’t recognize their exact origins, but their aura unmistakably marked them as a branch of the Spirit race—one of its more savage and merciless factions.
The Evil Spirit race attacked ruthlessly, tearing through the demonic beast horde with overwhelming force.
Despite being outnumbered ten to one, the demonic beasts fought fiercely. Their bodies were covered in tough scales that exuded a powerful aura. With their sharp claws, long tails, and the faint presence of dragon blood in them, Long Chen knew they were a mixed breed connected to the dragon race.
Long Chen didn’t recognize their origins either, but their defensive strength was remarkable. Even when backed into a corner, they unleashed explosive power in their final moments, dragging down numerous enemies with them. However, the disparity in numbers was just too great, and one by one, they were torn apart.
The battlefield rapidly shifted until it passed directly over Long Chen. Unfazed, he calmly took out an umbrella. The moment it opened, a crimson rain poured down, dyeing it red.
At that moment, both sides noticed Long Chen. However, with his aura perfectly suppressed, he was like an invisible shadow. Had he not revealed his umbrella, they would not have seen him at all.
Even so, neither side cared about a lone human. The slaughter continued, and after an incense stick’s time, the demonic beasts were annihilated.
Their blood and shattered limbs littered the ground. Among the fallen were several mid-stage Demon Emperors and hundreds of early-stage Demon Emperors.
Long Chen’s expression didn’t change, but inside he was slightly alarmed. These Demon Emperors were stronger than the devil experts he had just fought.
Even more shocking was that their killers were Heaven Saints of the Evil Spirit race. Every single one of them exuded a terrifyingly powerful aura, having fully merged with the Heavenly Daos.
Through their thirteen heaven veins, they could seize the power of the Heavenly Daos. Although Luo Yanfeng and the others were also thirteen-vein Heaven Saints, the Evil Spirit warriors were over ten times stronger than them.
However, Long Chen was confident that once Luo Yanfeng and the others entered Sovereign Mountain and their violet blood veins merged with heaven and earth, they would surpass these Evil Spirit warriors by an even greater margin.
These Evil Spirit warriors quickly regrouped after their victory. Their forces included only a single mid-stage Spirit Emperor and eight early-stage Spirit Emperors.
They didn’t participate in this battle, leaving it to their young disciples instead. Though they had lost hundreds of thousands of warriors, not a single one of them seemed to care. Their expressions remained indifferent, as if nothing had happened.
Once they gathered, one of the young disciples turned toward Long Chen and asked, “What is a human doing in this wilderness? Should we kill him?”
Long Chen was calmly staring at them. He wasn’t an ally of the Evil Spirit race or the demonic beasts.
He could tell that they were in a trial—a brutal culling to pick out the strongest among them. Furthermore, based on their numbers, this was merely a small faction of their total force.
Still, Long Chen felt no fear. Even if he couldn’t win, he could always escape. With the Heaven Flipping Seal in hand, what did he have to fear?
At that moment, Long Chen pondered whether or not he should use the Heaven Flipping Seal to launch a sneak attack on their mid-stage Spirit Emperor. If he could kill him in one blow, no one else in this group would be able to threaten him.
Upon closer examination, Long Chen realized that these people had just left their minor world. Their Heaven Saints were adapting quickly to the Heavenly Daos, but their Spirit Emperors hadn’t yet fully integrated with them.
Their Emperor Crowns had yet to undergo a second awakening, meaning their true strength was still growing. To put it simply, this era did not belong to them.
The mid-stage Spirit Emperor also studied Long Chen. Seeing how indifferent Long Chen appeared to be, he also noticed something off. Just as he was about to give the order to send a few people to test him, his expression suddenly changed.
Without hesitation, he waved his hand and led his warriors away in a hurry. Something had happened—something urgent enough for him to abandon the scene entirely.
Long Chen had been prepared to test their strength and see how much stronger the Evil Spirit race had become after merging with the Heavenly Daos. But just like that, they were gone.
Long Chen waved his hand, collecting the corpses of the demonic beast race.
Then, as he looked at the mountain of flesh and blood left behind, an idea struck him.
He took out the cocoon enveloping Evilmoon.
As soon as it touched the ground, the slumbering evil dragons within the cocoon trembled. Though clearly still asleep, their bodies began to glow.
A strange ripple spread outward, purifying the battlefield. Blood vanished into nothingness, and flesh withered to dust in an instant.
Long Chen smirked. “Everyone has a duty to take care of the environment.”
Satisfied, Long Chen put away the cocoon. But just as he was about to leave, a thought struck him. He turned his gaze in the direction where the Evil Spirit warriors had fled.
For them to retreat in such a hurry meant something serious was happening. Since they hadn’t used a transportation formation, they couldn’t have gone far.
Without hesitation, Long Chen gave chase.
After flying for an incense stick’s time, a towering pillar of divine light pierced the sky ahead. Beyond the light, he could vaguely see the silhouette of an enormous tree.
Long Chen’s heart shook when he saw that tree. He quickened his pace.
As he neared, he saw countless figures locked in battle. One side belonged to the Evil Spirit race, but their numbers were now thousands of times greater than before.
Their opponents, however, were not demonic beasts—but demonic trees.
The moment Long Chen identified them, his heart trembled.
“Undying Dragon Tree!”
