“Long Chen’s subordinate, the general of the Dragonblood Legion, Guo Ran—here to teach you a lesson!”
Encased in golden armor, Guo Ran easily blocked this expert’s killing blow with his hand.
“Fuck off! Enough with this ‘Long Chen’s subordinate’ nonsense! All of you can just die!” The expert of the demon race roared in frustration. The phrase had become a nightmare, grating on his mind.
He started unleashing a furious assault with his battle-axe. However, Guo Ran didn’t take a single step back, blocking it with his arm. Dust and sand rose around them, covering their figures.
On another front, Hou Tianwu suddenly lunged at Little Nine. The once-mighty fox had reverted to its small, rabbit-sized form. It was now covered in wounds, its aura weak and listless.
“Die, you wretched fox!” Hou Tianwu shouted, his staff smashing down.
BOOM!
A golden blade cleaved through the air, intercepting the staff with a resounding clash.
Golden light engulfed the battlefield, bathing everything in its radiant glow. For an instant, it felt as if the world had turned into a realm of pure gold. When the light faded, a lone figure stood before Hou Tianwu.
She was breathtaking. Dressed in a shimmering golden gown, her slender form radiated an awe-inspiring presence. Even her flowing black hair had been dyed gold by the energy emanating from her.Bai Shishi looked like a golden goddess. Nine golden dragons circled behind her, their low, guttural roars echoing through the air.
Behind Bai Shishi stood a huge figure—a towering woman wearing golden battle armor. It was this woman’s sword that had blocked Hou Tianwu’s killing blow.
“Xiaole, bring Little Nine to the recovery squad! Quick!” ordered Bai Shishi.
Bai Xiaole had arrived alongside her, but she had acted first. She knew her brother might not have been able to block such a devastating attack.
Although worried about his sister, Bai Xiaole knew saving Little Nine was the priority. If they delayed any longer, the fox might not survive.
“Big sister, be careful. I’ll come back soon!” said Bai Xiaole, grabbing Little Nine and vanishing.
“Did I say you could leave?” Hou Tianwu sneered, suddenly ripping the void apart with a hand.
BOOM!
Before he could act, a golden shield smashed into him, forcing him back two steps.
Bai Shishi said, “Your opponent is me. If you want to touch him, you’ll have to get past me first.”
Hou Tianwu’s eyes narrowed. Only now did he realize that the golden goddess behind Bai Shishi wielded both a sword and a shield, her aura exuding overwhelming metal energy. The very fabric of the world seemed to warp around her.
“Then I’ll kill you first!” Hou Tianwu bellowed, gripping his staff with both hands.
He swung it down with crushing force, leaving a trail of golden river in its wake. The sheer power behind the strike compressed the very laws of the world.
Bai Shishi’s expression changed slightly. Without hesitation, she formed a series of hand seals, instantly vanishing and reappearing atop the golden goddess’s forehead. She then merged with it in a flash of golden radiance.
As the golden goddess’s eyes snapped open, the ground beneath her trembled violently. A massive golden lotus bloomed beneath her feet, expanding rapidly until it spanned half the battlefield.
Just then, Hou Tianwu’s staff arrived, and the golden goddess raised her shield to meet the attack.
BOOM!
A deafening explosion tore through the battlefield, causing half of it to sink.
“What?!” Hou Tianwu’s eyes widened in shock. This attack was more powerful than the one he had used to cripple the Violet Pupil Nine-Tail Fox, yet Bai Shishi could block it!
However, cracks now appeared on the golden goddess’s shield.
Seeing this, Hou Tianwu prepared for another strike. But before he could act, the shield exploded. The golden goddess had reached her limit.
Before Hou Tianwu could unleash a second attack, a golden hand had materialized and grabbed the other end of his staff.
“Release it!” Hou Tianwu roared, pulling his weapon back.
However, the golden goddess refused to let go. As a result, two titanic figures engaged in a brutal tug-of-war over the staff, causing the battlefield to quake beneath them.
Golden divine light erupted, illuminating the skies like a second sun, and a suffocating pressure pressed down on every combatant in the vicinity.
Having fully merged with the golden goddess, Bai Shishi locked Hou Tianwu in a deadly contest of strength. She sensed that her opponent had imbued the staff with immense power. Hence, as long as she held on, he wouldn’t be able to unleash its full might.
As these two giant figures refused to let go, they were locked in a stalemate.
Meanwhile, Bai Xiaole had already reached the Dragonblood Legion’s core, where healing warriors immediately surrounded Little Nine. Streams of life energy flowed into the wounded fox, mending its grievous injuries at a visible rate.
Not only did its wounds heal, but its depleted core energy was also replenished. Seeing this, Bai Xiaole felt relieved.
Little Nine’s eyes fluttered open. Seeing Bai Xiaole’s tear-filled gaze, it croaked weakly, “I’m sorry, Xiaole.”
“Little Nine, what are you talking about?” Bai Xiaole frowned.
“I’m sorry. I was stupid and stubborn. I thought I had grown strong enough to seek vengeance... but the truth is, I’m nothing. I couldn’t even avenge the death of my kin,” Little Nine sobbed.
When its inflated confidence was mercilessly blown apart, Little Nine finally saw the reality. In the Dragonblood Legion, many people were stronger than it, so it didn’t have the qualifications to be arrogant.
Thinking of how arrogantly it had acted before, it was too ashamed to show its face. It had the urge to just die rather than keep embarrassing itself.
“Hehe, don’t worry about it. Boss said you’re very strong, and no one is mad at you,” Bai Xiaole reassured.
“Really? Did Boss really say that?” asked Little Nine, its ears perked up.
After all, it had also acted arrogantly in front of Long Chen. It didn’t have the face to stay in the Dragonblood Legion, as that would also implicate Bai Xiaole badly.
“Of course! He said you’re strong because you have me,” Bai Xiaole grinned.
Little Nine’s face twitched several times. Jokes were the last thing it needed.
“I’m serious!” Bai Xiaole insisted. “Boss said our strength comes from fighting together. You didn’t lose because you were weak—we just didn’t merge our power properly.”
Little Nine’s heart stirred. It had been too caught up in its pride to realize that it was strongest when fighting alongside Bai Xiaole.
“Xiaole, are you still mad at me?” Little Nine asked hesitantly.
“Of course I am!” Bai Xiaole huffed.
Little Nine’s heart sank, but before it could speak, Bai Xiaole continued, “But I’ll get over it quickly. As a good guy, I don’t hold grudges for too long. Let’s fight together next time.”
Little Nine’s eyes shone with excitement. “Alright!”
BOOM!
Just then, a powerful explosion rocked the battlefield, causing Bai Xiaole to jump and look at Bai Shishi.
