At this moment, Long Chen didn’t need to intentionally focus on recovery. His energy had already rebounded to thirty to forty percent. His recovery speed was astonishing, and he knew it had to be connected to the mysterious runes around him.
Long Chen’s Spiritual Strength transformed into a large hand that lightly pressed against the barrier. The moment he did so, his head buzzed as countless runes flooded his mind. A sharp, splitting pain assaulted him, but he gritted his teeth and endured, letting the runes brand themselves into his soul.
He had no idea what these runes were or their purpose. He was merely a spectator, watching as they etched spiritual brands onto his soul. Time dragged on, and the unending torrent of runes made Long Chen feel as if his head would explode.
Even with his vast Spiritual Strength, something he had never seen surpassed, he was nearing his limit. Veins throbbed on his forehead, and just when he thought he could endure no more, the flow of runes finally ceased.
Now, countless runes swirled within his mind like a sky full of stars. Long Chen was too dazed to do anything with them.
Long Chen slowly opened his eyes, looking pale as he soaked in sweat. He felt like he was on the verge of collapse.
Suddenly, he sensed danger. His gaze turned icy as he sneered, “You only have one chance. Do you want to risk it?”
Not far away, space quivered slightly, revealing a faint figure. It was Long Zimo. The coward had been planning a sneak attack while Long Chen appeared weak.
Fortunately, Long Chen had awoken in time, scaring Long Zimo off. Long Chen was confident that with Long Tianrui nearby, Long Zimo wouldn’t dare attack again soon. After all, a confrontation with both Long Chen and Long Tianrui could easily end in his death.
Long Chen then looked at Long Tianrui, who was standing in front of the barrier with her hands in a seal. Countless runes danced around her head as if she were searching for one uniquely hers. She seemed entirely focused and resolute, having already decided her path.Sighing, Long Chen wiped the sweat from his brow. His splitting headache persisted. If Long Zimo had truly attacked, it would have been disastrous. Fortunately, that sneaky bastard was gutless.
“Senior…”
Long Chen called out to the Earth Cauldron. However, he found that both the Earth Cauldron and Evilmoon were in a strange state. It was as though he had lost his connection with them.
Startled, Long Chen recalled a similar experience when he had been sucked into a spacetime channel leading to the primal chaos era’s battlefield. Could it be that he was in another spacetime channel, or were the runes themselves blocking his connection with them?
“How can this be?” Long Chen muttered, shocked.
Long Chen frowned. He had hoped for guidance from the Earth Cauldron, as he felt utterly lost amidst these runes. Although Long Tianrui had shared some methods with him, his intuition told him that none of them suited him. His path was destined to differ from everyone else’s.
Being a Jiuli descendant with a mixed bloodline of dragon and violet blood, Long Chen knew he couldn’t rely on the Long clan’s traditional methods.
The countless runes swirling in his mind left him dizzy and nauseous. He almost threw up.
Taking a deep breath, Long Chen steadied his turbulent emotions, forcing his mind to calm. The contrast between his current struggle and the ease with which he had broken through the eighth barrier was stark. Back then, he had been relaxed, almost playful, yet success had come effortlessly. Ṝã𐌽ȯ𐌱ËS
However, now because he was focused on breaking through, his mental state was strained. The more he wanted to break through, the harder it became.
Long Chen entered a meditative state, emptying his thoughts and allowing his heart to settle into stillness. As his breathing slowed, he observed the runes before him. He didn’t try to decipher them or impose any will upon them; instead, he simply watched, letting their movements unfold.
Yet, no matter how closely he observed, the runes revealed no discernible pattern. They flowed like a chaotic sky full of stars. Seeing this, Long Chen started to become frustrated.
As impatience bubbled within him, the runes mirrored his inner turmoil, swirling chaotically and sending sharp stabs of pain through his mind.
“There has to be a way. Take it slowly,” Long Chen muttered to himself.
He exhaled deeply, closing his eyes to block out the overwhelming sight. Once he had calmed down, he resumed his quiet observation of the runes.
Time slipped by unnoticed, and he still couldn’t find a lead.
But then, a sudden sense of danger jolted Long Chen. His eyes snapped open to see Long Zaiye’s sinister face materializing before him. Gleaming with deadly intent, the Dark Demon Spear was already hurtling toward him.
Reacting instinctively, Long Chen hit the tip of the spear, causing astral energy to explode and pour into the Dark Demon Spear like a tsunami.
BOOM!
The Dark Demon Spear shuddered, and the collision blew Long Chen and Long Zaiye back. Both of them grunted, and their hands were bleeding.
Long Chen was shocked inside. Long Zaiye’s power had undergone some kind of transformation, far more ferocious than before.
Is it because of the Jiuli immortal characters? Long Chen wondered
Long Chen suddenly thought of a possibility. Had Long Zaiye obtained new strength by breaking through these barriers?
“A stupid idiot like you can’t possibly comprehend Jiuli immortal characters! Just die!” Long Zaiye bellowed.
As Long Zaiye raised his hand, the Dark Demon Spear returned to his hold. When his wings quivered, countless runes ignited along the spear.
Long Chen’s eyes narrowed as recognition dawned on him—those runes were identical to the ones from the barriers. How was Long Zaiye able to wield them?
Just as those runes flashed, a spear-image pierced toward Long Chen like a bolt of lightning, and a terrifying sensation of death enveloped Long Chen, making his hair stand on end. The power of this attack was beyond his expectations.
Moreover, it was so fast that it left him no time to summon his Eight Star Battle Armor or ignite his astral energy.
In that critical moment, a vivid image formed in Long Chen’s mind. Jiuli characters started to converge, forming the “Defend” character.
Acting on pure instinct, Long Chen channeled the character outward. Countless symbols erupted from his consciousness, converging into the barrier before him. The space quivered as the “Defend” character took shape, and the Dark Demon Spear struck the barrier with an earth-shaking force.
