Zhang Zifeng smiled and said further. “His ambition has been constantly growing over the years and the first elder position is no longer enough for him. Now, he’s aiming for my position.”
“You are not afraid at all?” Yun Lintian asked casually.
“No,” Zhang Zifeng shook her head. “To tell you the truth, the Celestial Pavilion may be better in his hand. At least, his ambition will drive the Celestial Pavilion to a new height.”
Yun Lintian looked at her strangely and gave no comment on this matter.
Zhang Zifeng changed the subject. “This compass allows you to track the Abyssal Ghost Knight’s aura, but it’s not entirely accurate. You must be careful.”
Yun Lintian glanced at the black compass in his hand, its needle trembling slightly as it absorbed the lingering traces of death energy in the chamber. He could sense the faint connection it had with the Abyssal Ghost Knight—like a whisper in the void, guiding him toward his prey.
Without another word, he turned to Lan Huiqian’s stasis pod. The grey tendrils beneath her skin pulsed violently, as if sensing his approach.
Zhang Zifeng watched silently as Yun Lintian raised a hand. A thick green vine shot from his palm, wrapping around Lan Huiqian’s body in an instant. The power of the Tree of Life surged through the vine, its vibrant energy clashing against the aura of death.
The grey tendrils writhed in resistance, but they were no match for the pure vitality of the Tree of Life. Inch by inch, the corruption was purged, dissolving into nothingness. Lan Huiqian’s pale complexion gradually regained color, and her breathing steadied.
Zhang Zifeng’s eyes flickered with surprise, but she quickly composed herself. Of course… If he dares to chase the Abyssal Ghost Knight, he must have a way to counter death itself.
A moment later, Lan Huiqian’s eyelids fluttered open. Her vision was blurry at first, but when she recognized Yun Lintian standing before her, a wave of guilt crashed over her.
“Senior Yun…” Her voice was hoarse. “I’m sorry… I couldn’t protect them.”
Yun Lintian’s expression remained indifferent. “I accept your goodwill.”
That was all he said.
Lan Huiqian clenched her fists, frustration and regret burning in her chest. She had failed. The others—Long Qingxuan, Linlin, Yue Zhihe—had been taken right before her eyes, and she had been powerless to stop it.
Yun Lintian didn’t linger. He channeled a wisp of divine energy into the compass, and the needle immediately stabilized, pointing firmly in one direction.
Found you.
Without hesitation, Yun Lintian stepped forward, his figure blurring as he vanished from the chamber, Qingqing still cradled securely in his arms.
Silence descended.
Lan Huiqian slowly sat up, her body still weak but recovering rapidly thanks to the Tree of Life’s power. She turned to Zhang Zifeng.
“Jian Kun and Jian Feng… Are they still alive?”
Zhang Zifeng nodded. “I asked Yun Lintian to spare them.”
Lan Huiqian frowned. “We must be careful. Jian Kun isn’t one to sit idle, especially after seeing Yun Lintian return. He knows death is looming over him—he’ll do something desperate.”
Zhang Zifeng remained silent for a moment before replying, “Don’t worry. No matter what he tries, he can’t touch Yun Lintian now.”
Lan Huiqian wasn’t convinced. “You underestimate his cunning. He’s been eyeing your position for years. Now that Yun Lintian is back, he’ll see this as his last chance to act.”
Zhang Zifeng’s veil shifted slightly, her expression unreadable. “Let him try. I have already helped him once.”

Above the vast Eastern Ocean, a massive profound ark floated silently in the sky, its golden runes shimmering under the sunlight. Standing at the bow was a woman in white robes—Long Xi, the Dragon Queen of Light. Her long black hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall, and her draconic eyes glowed with an ancient majesty.
Beside her stood a young girl in green robes—Long Niu, her daughter. Though youthful in appearance, there was a quiet composure in her gaze that belied her age. She clutched the hem of her robe slightly, her fingers tightening as she scanned the horizon.
Sister… where are you?
“Are you sure Qingxuan is here?” Nantian Fengyu asked lazily, munching on a roasted chicken leg. Her red hair fluttered in the wind, and her playful eyes darted around with boredom.
Long Xi nodded. “I can sense her aura faintly. She must come to this timeline at the very least.”
Initially, they had planned to wait for Yun Lintian to find Long Qingxuan, but Long Xi’s patience had worn thin. The moment she caught a trace of her daughter’s presence, she gathered everyone and set off.
Nantian Fengyu shrugged. “Eh, whatever. At least it’s more fun than sitting around in Nine Firmament City.”
Gui Xuan, the young Black Turtle God, blinked slowly. “I… agree…”
Zhang Yu, his ever-serious protector, crossed her arms. “We should be cautious. There are a lot of True Gods here.”
Yue Chuntao, the Moon Princess, chuckled as she stroked Mumu, her Jade Rabbit. “Relax, Sister Yu~ If things get dangerous, we’ll just run away!”
Mumu twitched her nose annoyingly. “Don’t touch me.”
Yun Xia, in her old woman form, stared at the endless sky ahead silently. She came with them because Long Niu pestered her.
However, these people had no idea that they had just escaped death by coming here…
Just then—
BOOM!
A violent explosion echoed in the distance, shaking the air.
Everyone on the ark turned their heads.
Far ahead, two groups were locked in battle.
On one side stood a towering, muscular man—Xiong Yu, a True God—and his nephew, Xiong Ba, who was nearly as massive. Opposite them were two women—Nie Tong, a True God with sharp, cold features, and her disciple, Ling Xuan, whose slender frame contrasted with her fierce aura.
Xiong Yu roared, “Nie Tong! Today is the day you die!”
Nie Tong sneered. “After five thousand years, you’re still daydreaming.”
The battle erupted instantly.
Xiong Ba and Ling Xuan clashed first, their movements a blur. Fists met blades, shockwaves rippling across the ocean’s surface.
Xiong Yu and Nie Tong, however, did not move immediately. They stood facing each other, their auras colliding, distorting the space around them.
Nantian Fengyu whistled. “Now this is entertainment.”
Yue Chuntao tilted her head. “Hmm… That Big Guy’s aura is unstable. He’s injured.”
Long Xi’s eyes narrowed with vigilance.
