MYTH BEYOND HEAVEN

Chapter 2705: Challenge (2)

Chapter 2705: Challenge (2)

The other elders present in the hall exchanged worried glances. The loss of a God Ascension Realm elder was no small matter, a significant blow to the sect’s authority.

“Grand Elder,” one of the elders spoke, his voice hesitant, “should we… should we report this to our master?”

Yu Zheng paused, his gaze shifting towards the elder. The question hung heavy in the air. Reporting to the Profound Mystery God was not a decision to be taken lightly. It would mean acknowledging the severity of the situation, admitting that the sect was facing a threat beyond their immediate control.

He hesitated, his mind battling with the implications. The Profound Mystery God was usually busy. To disturb his cultivation with what might be a minor issue seemed disrespectful.

However, the growing unease within him prevailed. The disappearance of a God Ascension Realm elder, coupled with the mysterious Yun Lintian’s open defiance, was too significant to ignore.

“Yes,” Yu Zheng finally declared, his voice firm. “We must inform our master.”

He retrieved a jade slip, its surface glowing with faint, ethereal light. It was a sound transmission jade, a direct line of communication with the Profound Mystery God.

He channeled his energy into the jade slip, his voice low and respectful. “Master,” he began, “I have a matter of grave importance to report.”

A moment of silence followed, the air thick with anticipation. Then, a voice echoed from the jade slip, a voice that resonated with ancient power.

“Speak,” the Profound Mystery God commanded, his voice calm and steady.

Yu Zheng relayed the events, detailing the loss of contact with the cultivators, the emergence of Yun Lintian, and the growing suspicion that he posed a significant threat.

Another moment of silence followed. Then, the Profound Mystery God spoke again, his voice laced with a hint of contemplation.

“Stay calm,” he instructed. “Find out his background. Who sent him? What are his motives?”

He paused, his voice softening slightly. “I will return in a week. Until then, handle this matter with utmost caution.”

The jade slip fell silent, the faint glow fading away. Yu Zheng lowered the jade slip, his expression thoughtful. The Profound Mystery God’s words were clear: investigate, but do not provoke.

“He will return in a week,” Yu Zheng announced, his voice echoing through the hall. “Until then, we must find out Yun Lintian’s background.”

The elders bowed, their expressions solemn. They understood the gravity of the situation. The Profound Mystery God’s return was imminent, and they needed to provide him with answers.

“Where did you send them?” Bai Ying couldn’t help but ask as she followed closely behind Yun Lintian.

“A safe place,” Yun Lintian replied. “No one can hurt them there. You don’t have to worry. I will let you meet them later.”

Bai Ying nodded slowly and asked, “Are you sure you want to confront the Profound Mystery Sect? I’m not looking down on you or anything, but I think we need to prepare well. They are not ordinary.”

Yun Lintian said. “When I arrived here for the first time, I always stayed low-profile and investigated them in secret, but I discovered that it was meaningless.”

He turned to look at Bai Ying and said further, “To tell you the truth, I’m here to find the Profound Mystery God. At first, I wanted to wait for him to appear, but now I think I should force him out.”

Bai Ying frowned slightly and said, “Although I have never met the Profound Mystery God, I heard that he is one of the closest subordinates to the God of Darkness. You must be careful.”

“That’s even better,” Yun Lintian smiled meaningfully.

Bai Ying furrowed her brow, staring at Yun Lintian’s back in confusion. She couldn’t figure out why Yun Lintian was so confident.

Five days passed. Yun Lintian and Bai Ying traversed vast landscapes, their journey swift and unwavering. They finally arrived at their destination: the Profound Mystery Sect. The sect’s imposing architecture, its towering spires and fortified walls, exuded an aura of power and dominance.

Yun Lintian, however, showed no signs of hesitation. He didn’t conceal his aura, his presence radiating an immense pressure that shook the very foundations of the sect.

His arrival immediately caused a commotion throughout the sect. Cultivators, their faces filled with shock and apprehension, rushed out of their residences, their gazes fixed on the sky.

They had never seen anyone so bold, so arrogant, to come to their sect without restraining their aura. It was a blatant challenge, an act of defiance that shook the sect’s very core.

Soon, a figure appeared in the sky, his aura radiating a sense of authority. It was Grand Elder Yu Zheng, his gaze fixed on Yun Lintian. He looked at Yun Lintian and Bai Ying, his expression a mix of suspicion and anger.

“You must be Yun Lintian,” Yu Zheng said coldly. “Who is your master? And what is his intention?”

Yun Lintian remained unfazed by Yu Zheng’s imposing presence. He stood in the air, his gaze calm and steady, his aura a silent declaration of his power. He looked at Yu Zheng, his expression indifferent.

“There is no master behind me,” he replied, his voice clear and resonant, carrying across the sect. “I have come to see the Profound Mystery God.”

His words echoed through the sect, sending ripples of shock and disbelief through the gathered cultivators. To openly demand an audience with the sect’s master, the Profound Mystery God himself, was an act of unparalleled arrogance.

Yu Zheng’s eyes narrowed, his expression hardening.

“You dare demand an audience with our master?” he roared, his voice filled with a chilling intent. “You are but a mere ant, insignificant and powerless. You have no right to stand before him.”

Yu Zheng turned to look at Bai Ying and said further, “A White Tiger God? Is your White Tiger God Clan involved in this?”

Before Yun Lintian could respond, Bai Ying stepped forward, her gaze fixed on Yu Zheng. Her expression was cold, her voice filled with a chilling resolve.

“I am Bai Ying,” she declared, her voice echoing through the sect. “I come here alone. I do not represent the White Tiger God Clan. My actions are my own.”

She paused, her gaze shifting towards the gathered cultivators, her voice laced with a bitter edge. “I have come to seek revenge,” she announced, her voice resonating with a deep-seated hatred. “Revenge for the Bai Clan.”

Yu Zheng’s expression turned grim, his eyes burning with a cold fury.

“You dare seek revenge against the Profound Mystery Sect?” he roared, his voice filled with a chilling intent. “You are even more foolish than I thought.”

He raised his hand, and a surge of energy erupted from his body, forming a swirling vortex of power. The surrounding cultivators, sensing the immense energy, retreated, their faces filled with apprehension.

“I will give you both one last chance,” Yu Zheng said, his voice laced with a chilling intent. “Leave now, and I may spare your lives. Otherwise, you will face the full wrath of the Profound Mystery Sect.”

Yun Lintian, observing Yu Zheng’s aggressive stance, simply shook his head, a faint smile playing on his lips.

“You misunderstand,” he said, his voice calm and steady, cutting through Yu Zheng’s threats. “I am not here to negotiate. I am here for blood.”
