My Wife Came From A Thousand Years Ago
Chapter 34: My Sister from High SchoolChapter 34: My Sister from High School
Qin Hao was completely confused.
When he received the address, he had joked with Old Gu, saying that he often came here with friends and might even run into someone familiar.
Well, it happened.
“You guys…”
He scanned the environment inside. Xu Qing had two balls of tissue stuck up his nose, half his face was covered in blood, and Liang Zi looked like a mess, with cake and vomit smeared all over him. Qin Hao couldn’t help but grin, “...Really having fun, huh?”
“Do you know them?” Old Gu asked.
“Too well,” Qin Hao shook his head and entered, kicking a piece of packaging that was at the door. “What happened?”
“We were singing, got too excited, fell a couple of times, and someone thought we were fighting and called the cops. See, this is what happens.”
Wang Zijun laughed casually as he walked over and winked at Qin Hao, “Damn, you’re on duty? That outfit looks good on you.”“Of course,” Qin Hao said, his face serious as he whispered, then cleared his throat. “I didn’t ask you. You two, what happened?”
“Exactly what he said.” Xu Qing shrugged, covering his nose as he took a few steps, seemingly carelessly blocking Jiang He behind him.
“You weren’t fighting?”
Old Gu pulled out a notebook and started writing. Seeing the blood on Xu Qing’s face, he instinctively thought Xu Qing was the victim, so he asked about this side first. As long as this side was okay, the one with glasses probably wasn’t in trouble. “Show me your ID card.”
“Who brings an ID card to a birthday party…” Xu Qing pulled out the tissue in his nose to check if the bleeding had stopped.
“Give me your ID number.”
“13068219…”
Old Gu scribbled it down, confirming, “So, you’re saying you weren’t fighting?”
“No, what fight... I don’t even know who’s so bored, just messing around,” Xu Qing said.
“Better not be, just celebrate your birthday properly, don’t cause trouble.”
Old Gu frowned as he gave a warning. Before he could continue asking, Liang Zi spoke up behind them.
“He hit me.”
“…”
“…”
Xu Qing shot him a cold glance. Liang Zi seemed to have recovered, wiping his glasses with his shirt.
“Did you fight or not?”
“Yeah, he hit me. Look at this…” Liang Zi swept his gaze around the private room. “Can you call this a birthday celebration?”
“Alright, come with me to the station,” Old Gu said, tired of the bickering. The smell of alcohol mixed with vomit on the floor made him constantly frown.
“No, no, we were just messing around!” Wang Zijun, who had been greeting the manager at the door, turned around and entered. “What fighting… just drunk, really drunk.”
“Did you fight?” Qin Hao looked at Xu Qing, asking the obvious, though he already knew.
Anyone with half a brain could tell it was a fight, but since no one reported it to the authorities, they weren’t going to make a big deal of it. They didn’t care either.
“He said we fought, so we fought. Go talk to him at the station,” Xu Qing slowly opened his mouth, gently rubbing his nose before he added, “Help me send my sister home. I’ll go with that guy.”
Wang Zijun blinked in surprise, looking at Jiang He, but didn’t ask why she was his girlfriend one moment and his sister the next. He nodded, “Don’t worry.”
“Let’s all go, we need to understand the situation.” Old Gu looked at Wang Zijun and then at Jiang He. The people who were there when they entered knew exactly what happened.
“No need. My sister’s still in high school, hasn’t even done her homework.”
“You’re bringing a high schooler to a place like this?”
“It’s her birthday, gotta celebrate.”
“…”
Wang Zijun couldn’t help but mock, but he didn’t say much. He clearly saw that Xu Qing didn’t want the girl to go, so he supported him: “I’ll go. I’ve been here the whole time. I know if it was a fight or just playing around…”
“Enough with the talk. Let’s go, it won’t take long.”
Old Gu turned and headed out the door. Qin Hao, looking dejected, shrugged. “I’m just a newbie, an errand boy, doesn’t matter what I say.”
Jiang He, quiet and observing, could tell that Xu Qing had purposely given her a heads-up about what the police were like… but Xu Qing didn’t speak, and she didn’t do anything either.
“Want to wash your face first?” Qin Hao asked.
“No need, let’s go.”
Xu Qing shook his head, casting a glance at Liang Zi before looking back at Jiang He.
“My sister just came from the village, hasn’t been to places like this, don’t scare her.”
Jiang He noticed Xu Qing speaking to others, but his eyes stayed on her. She quickly understood his meaning and quietly remembered.
“We’re not going to eat anyone, just need to understand the situation.”
Qin Hao, not happy, looked back at Jiang He, “Your sister? I didn’t know you had a sister.”
All he had heard was that Xu Qing had a girlfriend, and he had thought that was it, but suddenly he was talking about a sister... where did that come from?
“Cousin. You heard nothing,” Xu Qing snorted.
“Cousin? What kind of nonsense is that?”
“Wait, I’ll say hi first.” Wang Zijun waved at the group before going over to the manager to have a low-key conversation.
“Cousin? High school student?” Qin Hao stopped at the door of the KTV, waiting for Wang Zijun, while eyeing Xu Qing’s so-called “sister.”
He had grown tired of seeing Xu Qing’s old face.
“Checking household registration?” Xu Qing scoffed, “It’s useless. She’s in high school, hasn’t even gotten her ID, just came to hang out for a few days.”
“Tsk, your sister is my sister, huh? What’s her name?… Your Xu family genes are something else.”
“Jiang He.” Xu Qing winked at her, “Got it?”
“Got it, got it.” Qin Hao grinned and smiled at Jiang He, “I’m your Qin ge (older brother)!”
“Older brother, huh? Don’t scare her, you look so dark.”
“Alright, let’s go.”
Wang Zijun finished greeting the KTV staff, stuffed his hands in his pockets, and walked over with his girlfriend. “You didn’t come when called, now that it’s over, you’re here to arrest someone…”
“Came for what? Fighting, getting in trouble?” Qin Hao glanced at Liang Zi, who was already waiting by the car. “What really happened?”
“Damn… it’s all my fault, all my fault.” Wang Zijun clicked his tongue and sighed. “Let’s go, better resolve this quickly. Won’t invite you next time.”
Jiang He quietly followed Xu Qing, listening to their conversation without speaking.
The night was deep, and the starry sky was dazzling.
The group got in the car, and the conversation stopped. The car sped through the dark night, moving smoothly on the road toward the police station.
When they got out of the car, they walked in small groups. They looked at the brightly lit police station. Wang Zijun suddenly laughed. “Qingzi, you’re home.”
“Home your sister,” Xu Qing replied. He wasn’t too concerned about the fight; it was just a formality. What he worried about was Jiang He’s situation.
This was what they called “guilty conscience”… Xu Qing mocked himself. Raising an ancient person like this, he really needed to control his temper.
Seeing them so relaxed, Old Gu glanced back but didn’t say anything, leading the way forward. Liang Zi, grumbling, followed in second place, silent.
He knew exactly what happened. Though he was in the wrong, he was the one who got beaten up. This trip to the police station might not win him anything, but at least it wouldn’t cost him much. Xu Qing started the trouble, so there was no way to escape it.
Jiang He followed at the back, looking up at the national emblem on the door that exuded authority.
Cousin... High school... No identity... Birthday...
Replaying the thoughts in her head, Jiang He sighed softly. When she saw Xu Qing looking at her, she gave a subtle nod and walked in with everyone.
In the end, she’d have to face it. This was just an early familiarization.
