My Werewolf System

Chapter 1336 - 1336: The Luna's Choice

When selecting a class, the werewolf themselves often underwent a painful body transformation. This was precisely why Gary wanted to do it away from the other vampires. However, as part of their plan to prepare for the worst, they needed to utilize Xin’s newly found Luna powers, and to do that, Gary had to choose a class for her.

“Alright, I’ll do whatever it is you need me to do,” Xin said, her voice firm and prepared as she sat on a bar stool. Gary stood opposite her, staring intently into her eyes.

“Are you going to do something, or just kiss her?” Innu joked, breaking the intense silence. The others, still in the room, were waiting for some kind of result. Innu’s comment snapped Gary out of whatever daze he was in, staring at Xin.

“Ah, you see, when werewolves get stronger, two things seem to happen,” Gary began to explain. “Either they naturally evolve into a type of class, which is what happened with Kai, or I can pick a class for them. In your case, it’s letting me pick your class.”

“A class, are you talking about like in a video game?” Xin asked, tilting her head.

Gary nodded in response. “I was trying to think what would be best for you. Honestly, this is more of a starting point, as I think you’ll be able to upgrade your class rather quickly. But right now, you have the choice out of Warrior Class, Hunter Class, and Protector Class.”

Gary then elaborated on what each class entailed. Those who were part of the Howlers stepped forward to demonstrate their roles: Marie was part of the Protector Class, Olivia the Hunter Class, and then Park, who was a Warrior Class but had branched off and evolved into the Paladin Class. Gary also explained what had occurred to him, recalling when Midwak had even discussed his own special class.

“I was trying to think of what suited you best, compared to what you had before with your powers,” Gary mused, humming in thought. “I think it would be the Warrior Class, but I’m not too sure what options you would get past that… Maybe the Hunter Class suits your fighting style more as well.” Xin was starting to understand why he was having such a difficult time deciding.

“Pick the Protector Class,” Xin said, her voice clear and decisive.

Everyone was quite surprised by this. Xin was a formidable fighter, strong and capable, and the Protector Class, even at Marie’s level, seemed to be more of a supportive role.

“I’m thinking about everything you’ve told me, and based on what I heard, I think Protector will be best,” Xin elaborated. “I can handle myself, so the way I use the Protector Class might be different. But from what we heard the Luna can do, the Protector Class is also able to support those around it in some way. Imagine if you combined the Protector Class powers with the Luna—I think it would amplify its effect.”

Kai nodded in agreement. He tended to think about things more individually, but Xin was right; as the Luna, it was best to consider what was optimal for the entire pack.

“Then there’s something else as well,” Xin continued, her eyes alight with an idea. “From what you said, Ylva and Lupusworked extremely well together because her powers were supporting his, and it’s because of that the two were able to fight well side by side. We don’t know if the effects will be the same, but if I’m something like a Protector while you’re a powerful Alpha, I think we can have a strong synergy. Almost like the strongest shield and the strongest spear attacking side by side.”

Before Gary knew it, he felt a hand press against his shoulder. “You picked a good woman,” Innu declared, a wide grin on his face. “I approved before, but now I really approve. It seems she thinks more than you about these things.”

Xin had made a compelling case, so Gary decided not to waste any more time with his selection, choosing the Protector Class. As he selected it, Xin felt a change ripple through her body. There was a slight, almost imperceptible pain all over, and she knelt down briefly before lifting her head again, a look of mild surprise on her face.

“Oh, that’s it… I thought it would be worse.”

“WHAT!” Olivia shouted, her voice laced with incredulity. “When I went through my upgrade, I was rolling about on the floor! This is not fair! Where’s her agony?”

“Maybe… it’s because of her grade, or how strong her body was as an Altered before, that’s why it didn’t hurt as much?” Gary pondered aloud.

Regardless, Gary watched as he could see that now there was an option to unlock the next class, and it was the same one that Marie had. ‘I guess there weren’t any other options, but that’s not too much of an issue anyway,’ Gary thought, as he went ahead and upgraded it again.

This time, Xin leaned over slightly further than before. She had a large strain on her stomach, but after a few moments, she lifted her head again, and they could hear a loud bang as Olivia slammed her hand on the table.

“This is bull crap!” Olivia shouted, moaning to herself before going off to sulk, sitting alone.

That’s when Gary could see it: a bunch of notifications had unlocked. His guess was right—that after giving her a class upgrade, she could finally use all of her powers, powers that would undoubtedly help out the others.

[Standard Luna support powers have been unlocked]

[The following skills…]

The skills were the same as what Ylva had: the Wolf’s Song, and the ability to slightly foresee ahead based on the strength of the moon.

[The power of the Luna Wolf has been unlocked, a new form is available for her class] [Lunar Sentinel]
