Kai—a man who used his head unlike some of the other Werewolves in the pack—was cautious. It was quite clear Midwak had activated something, a power from within. He didn’t want to rush in when he wasn’t sure what his opponent could do.
Midwak had always been a strong Werewolf and had pushed himself to grow in order to try to match up against Gary. It was just that Gary had gone so far ahead of everyone else, it was hard for them to gauge. And Midwak was truly a lone wolf, staying in Notsburg away from everyone else, who knew what he had been doing to train, or what he had been through till today.
“Come on!” Midwak shouted as he swung his hands out. Just like before, claw marks appeared in the air. They cut the air, and as the tail end scraped across the ground, they cut that as well.
The attack was the same as before, but the number of attacks wasn’t. Midwak was constantly swinging his arms at a massive amount of speed, and the strikes were coming out nonstop.
Kai, to avoid them, had no choice but to turn back into his wolf form, and started to run in circles around Midwak, doing his best to avoid all the attacks.
‘He’s attacking nonstop, and it doesn’t look like he’s getting tired at all!’ Kai noticed, and saw the entire rooftop falling to pieces. The attacks trailed off quite far, breaking part of the hotel barrier and going into the air.
Eventually, Kai had no choice. It didn’t appear as if Midwak would just get tired—he needed to try and attack. Kai moved in closer and closer, and then swept right past Midwak again.
He couldn’t get right next to him to strike but ran past him, hoping his ice-chilling effect would do its thing. But just like before, the ice was melting. It wasn’t heat, but a radiating energy coming off Midwak’s body that appeared to just counter his ice powers.
When Kai turned around to move, he could see Midwak had leapt through the air, reaching out toward him, as if he had no care for his body at all. He swung one hand, and when Kai moved to dodge—
Several nails pierced his skin as they hit the side of his wolf’s body. They pierced him, but Kai continued to move, jumping out of the way, letting Midwak’s claws reach nothing.
“Now you’re deciding to run away? Come on!” Midwak said, turning around and chasing after Kai while swinging his claws.
‘I’ve been hit, and for the first time in this fight. Although Midwak isn’t the cleverest fighter, he has good instincts. Doing whatever he can to win. The longer it goes on, the more chance I have of losing this thing!’
Kai, while rushing around the rooftop, was trying to look for a solution when he felt like he found it. He suddenly stopped at a specific point, and he knew Midwak would run right at him.
He swung his claws, attacking as he usually did, and Kai had transformed into his regular Werewolf form. He stepped to the side, avoiding several of the attacks, but due to the mass amount of strikes, some hit him.
He braced himself with his arms held above his body. Protecting the head, the attacks hit his skin and broke through.
“Haha, and now you’re standing there just waiting for me to take you down!” Midwak jumped in the air, and already in mid-jump, he was unaware of what had just happened.
A water tank was falling. Midwak used his claws to break through the metal. The water gushed on top of him and over the rest of the rooftop.
Midwak quickly climbed out of the water tank and then went back onto the rooftop, where the water was deep and over his ankles. In the middle of getting ready, he felt the chill once again, and he saw a blur run past him.
He could see it once again—Kai was running all around him in his wolf form, but what was odd was the feeling of his body—it was freezing over and slowing down once again.
“What the…”
Before Midwak could react, Kai had pounced on top of him and bit down on his shoulder with his teeth. In the middle of holding on, Kai transformed into his Werewolf form and let go of his bite. He then swiped with his hands as fast as he could, continuously hitting Midwak on the top of his head.
Midwak was hurting, and his body was slow to react to everything. Kai then leapt off Midwak’s body before he could grab him, and in the middle of landing back on the ground again, he delivered a large punch, hitting Midwak straight into the water.
Midwak could see Kai now hovering over him, and the side of his body was freezing to the ground. All the water around was freezing, and now Kai had his hand right at Midwak’s throat.
Kai had avoided Midwak’s strikes, and he was stood right next to the water tank when it happened. It was Midwak’s own attacks that had caused the water tank to fall. If Kai had attacked them himself, then there was a chance his plan could have been found out and failed.
With the water touching Midwak’s body and the rest of the ground, Kai’s ice powers had a greater chance to work.
“You should have never betrayed the Howlers!” Kai shouted, as he was ready to rip Midwak’s throat out.
“If you kill me, both of your friends are dead!” Midwak shouted, which had caused Kai to stop. He had finally gotten his attention.
