Putting a lot more oomph into its roar, the red wyvern was able to send most of the ones attacking it flying for a few meters, with only a select few being able to remain in their current spots.

Then again, whether or not it was able to push everyone attacking it away did not matter to the red wyvern that much. If anything, the roar seemed to be done by the red wyvern in order to give itself the opportunity for it to speak.

“I do have to say… I’m quite surprised.” Collecting the thoughts that whirled in its mind all the while Valyr and the others mounted an offensive against it, the red wyvern looked at the entire group with a calm gaze.

“To be able to damage my body to this extent is… quite impressive.”

“Because of that, I retract my earlier statement. The fact that you were able to bring me to this state tells me that you’ve accepted this out of your own accord.”

“Is it out of duty? Is it because the heavens told you to? Is it because you want to experience fighting such a magnificent being? Who knows?”

“However… that does not mean that I’ll take your attacks lying down,” said the red wyvern, narrowing its eyes as its aura began to flare up. “Now that you’ve shown me everything that you’re capable of…”

“How about I return the favor?”

Swoosh!

While almost everyone was still a bit confused by the red wyvern’s words, the latter proceeded to sink its claws into the ground before letting out yet another bestial roar.

Roaaaaarrrrr!!!

However, unlike before, where its purpose was to intimidate or to push its foes back to their rightful place, the red wyvern directed its roar towards the sky this time around.

Rumble…

In response to the roar, parts of the sky began to flash a faint orange a few seconds later, its aura similar to what the red wyvern had shown everyone a few moments earlier.

Bang!

Then, just as some of the people within the group had begun to grasp what was going on, the orange flashes in the sky eventually condensed into one spot before striking the red wyvern directly.

“…!”

Feeling a sense of imminent danger from the fiery bolt of lightning, those that were still near the red wyvern hastily used all of their movement skills to get out of the way.

Naturally, they also layered themselves in multiple defense skills just in case they were hit by any of its stray bolts.

Fortunately, all of the fiery bolt’s might was focused on the red wyvern, allowing those who were still near it to safely escape and let out a sigh of relief.

However, at the same time…

“Hey, Ataraxia.” Standing a bit close to Valyr, ILikeLamps glanced at the red wyvern for a bit before looking back at the young man with a slightly concerned expression.

“Is it just me… or does it look like the red wyvern isn’t taking any damage from the bolt?”

“It’s not just you,” replied the young man, his gaze still affixed towards the red wyvern.

Bzzt! Bzzt! Bzzt!

Although sparks of fiery lightning flew here and there around the wyvern’s body, most of it was still contained around the red wyvern, making most of the people in the group think that the lightning was damaging it at first.

Though, as more and more time passed, the excitement brought about by the sudden appearance of the lightning disappeared, instead being replaced with looming dread as they began to feel the wyvern’s strength increase all of a sudden.

Badump!

By the time a few minutes had passed since the fiery lightning appeared, a sound of a loud heartbeat echoed all of a sudden, prompting everyone in the group to look in the direction of the sound’s origin.

“…Hmm.” Turning to look at the sound’s origin, Valyr’s expression became serious, immediately taking note that the fiery lightning surrounding the red wyvern had disappeared.

Continuing to look at the red wyvern for a bit more, he soon noticed that its scales had now gained a slight orange hue to it, reminding him of the color of the fiery lightning that struck the wyvern earlier.

“…It’s been a while since I was forced to use this.” Just as the thoughts in his mind began to try and make sense of the current situation, the red wyvern spoke to the entire group once again.

Yet, this time, its tone had returned to its earlier disdain.

“Be grateful that you’ll be able to witness me at my greatest,” said the red wyvern soon after, channeling all of the energy in its body towards its mouth.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Slowly opening its maw, a faint ball of fiery energy began to conjure at the center, causing Malutar and the others’ eyes to widen as they quickly understood what was going on.

“Now then… who do you think will fall first?” asked the red wyvern, the fiery ball continuing to grow by the second. “Will I succumb to your attacks first?”

“…Or will you succumb to this attack of mine?”

Ding!

Just as the majority of people in the group began to panic due to their current predicament, a notification from the system swiftly quelled that fear in an instant.

‘Another task, I presume,’ thought Valyr to himself, the notification’s contents quickly confirming his suspicions.

Though, just as he thought that the task would be easy to complete because of how sudden it appeared, the young man instead began to frown as he took note of the task’s objective.

[Preventing Mutual Destruction] (Emergency Task)

Difficulty: S

Congratulations! You’ve given the red wyvern the slap of reality it sorely needed.

Unfortunately, that slap of reality has only made it realize that your squad is actually prepared to fight against it… which is bad.

Tapping into strength it had saved up all this time, the red wyvern is adamant in making sure it could maintain its reputation as an invincible foe… even if it was unable to achieve its ultimate dream.

Now then… will you submit to the red wyvern’s might?

Or will you tip the scales back to your favor?

Task objective:

– Bring the Red Wyvern’s HP down to 40% within 10 minutes

Rewards:

– Freedom to attack the red wyvern for 10 minutes

– ??? (additional rewards based on contribution to damage dealt, rewarded after defeating the red wyvern)

Penalty

– Inability to enter the world raid for 1 day

– Reduction of 3 levels

[Note: It is highly recommended to complete this task through any means necessary. Dying from its attack feels really, really bad.]
