Chapter 4699: Anger

“Master, it’s not Big Brother’s fault. He was protecting us,” Yue’er quickly interjected, her voice filled with concern, afraid that the Azure Emperor might scold Hao’er.

The Azure Emperor glanced at her and said sternly, “Didn’t I instruct you? Do not reveal your relationship to anyone outside. From this moment forward, do not call him ‘brother.’ Address him as ‘Senior Brother’ and Muchen as ‘Second Senior Brother.'”

“Oh,” Yue’er replied obediently, stealing a quick, apologetic glance at her two older siblings.

“Have you both remembered?” The Azure Emperor asked, his gaze now fixed on Hao’er and Muchen.

The two boys exchanged a brief look before replying in unison, “Yes, Master, disciple remembers.”

“As Senior Brothers,” the Azure Emperor continued, his voice calm yet carrying an undercurrent of formidable power, “if you ever encounter anyone bullying your Junior Sister in the future, regardless of who they are, teach them a lesson first. If they attempt to kill you, eliminate them before they can carry out their intent! Do you understand?” His seemingly gentle tone held a cold and intimidating aura that sent a shiver down both Hao’er and Muchen’s spines.

“Yes, we understand, Master,” they replied solemnly.

“Since we have completed our errands, let us depart,” the Azure Emperor announced, rising from his seat. He left a single gold coin on the table, smoothly brushed off his robes, and walked out of the teahouse, his hands clasped behind his back.

Seeing this, Yue’er hastily retrieved the half-eaten pastry from the table and placed it back into her space. She then quickly followed her two brothers as they hurried after their master, their steps directed towards the familiar path leading back to Yunxiao Mountain.

On the other side of the city, the venerable elders of the Heaven’s Sun Sect stood around the lifeless body of their fallen disciple, their expressions grim and solemn.

“It was a single drop of water that killed him, not some kind of hidden weapon,” one of the venerable ones murmured, stroking his long white beard thoughtfully. “To be able to manipulate water with such precision and lethality from a distance… this person’s cultivation must be unfathomably deep.”

Hearing this, another elder turned to the blue-robed disciple who had returned with the body and asked in a voice that was outwardly calm but laced with barely suppressed fury, “Didn’t you go down the mountain to purchase supplies? How did you manage to make such dangerous enemies and instigate such a grave incident?”

“Master, please forgive our incompetence,” the blue-robed disciple pleaded, kneeling down and bowing his head low. “At that time, only Junior Brother went to acquire the spirit wine, while the rest of us were occupied with other purchases. We never anticipated that he would become embroiled in a conflict with three children and ultimately be killed.” He remained prostrate, awaiting his master’s judgment.

“Proceed to the Disciplinary Department and receive thirty lashes!” The venerable elder commanded in a deep, resonant voice, his brow furrowed with displeasure as he looked down at the kneeling disciple. “Get up and go!”

“Yes, Master. Disciple will immediately go and receive his punishment,” the blue-robed man replied hastily, quickly rising and hurrying out of the room.

After he had left, the venerable elders turned their attention back to the corpse lying on the ground. One of them finally broke the heavy silence. “What are your thoughts? Who could have possibly killed him in such a manner?”

“Regardless of their identity,” another elder declared, his face flushed with anger, “anyone who dares to harm an inner disciple of the Heaven’s Sun Sect clearly holds our sect in utter contempt. We cannot simply let this pass, or others will believe that the Heaven’s Sun Sect is weak and that our inner disciples can be killed with impunity! I will dispatch someone to the city immediately to gather more information about those three children. We will uncover who is behind this!”

The elder beside him listened intently, pondered for a moment, and then said hesitantly, “That is true, but I am concerned that this might be the work of some reclusive and powerful figure. If that is the case, even our Heaven’s Sun Sect might be powerless to retaliate. Moreover, if the other party is indeed a hidden power, our Heaven’s Sun Sect disciples would be in the wrong for laying a hand on their disciples. If this powerful figure chooses to eliminate them, who among us would dare to voice any opinion?”

“A powerful figure in seclusion? How many such individuals can there truly be?” the first elder scoffed, though a hint of unease flickered in his eyes. “Very well, I will instruct the disciples below to handle this matter with utmost caution for now.” With that, and without offering any further explanation, he brushed his sleeves and strode out of the room, leaving the other elders to contemplate the unsettling events that had just transpired.
