Chapter 6047, Ambush
Author: Silavin
As Yang Ji was about an arms’ length away from the protective barrier, they could hear a sudden scream.
“Get away!”
The next moment, they tried to look up, to the source of the voice, they sensed something flash by.
*Boom! Boom!*
It was too fast for them to even perceive. Before they could even react, two explosion came. One was behind them and one was directly in front of them!
Right now, in front of their eyes, the carcass had splatted and dust bloomed all around. Something had crashed down upon it with such velocity, nothing of it had remained. Even those crystalised bits, hardened from the monsters’ liquid, shattered into dust. The impact was so bad, the shockwaves pushed the protective barrier back a few metres.
As for the thing that landed behind them, it did not cause that much destruction. It had crashed faster than the one in front, but that was all.
Nevertheless, due to the protective barrier suddenly being pushed back, Yang Ji, who was facing up at the time, had his chin struck back by the barrier. He got thrown back along with the barrier, landing quite a distance away from where he originally stood.
As for Yang Xu, who was at the centre, she too got pushed back.
Her grip on the two Crystals tightened even further as she awaited the dust to settle.
The one behind cleared up first. It was a familiar weapon, something akin to a javelin. Judging from that voice they had heard, it must have been thrown by Mo Na Ye.
As for the one at the front…
Though its figure had not been exposed, it had flashed forward. Cutting through the dust, heading straight towards them.
From the short moment they could catch its figure, they could see a large being with four arms. Each arm seemed to have been covered with a thick exoskeleton, with hands the size of watermelons. It had a pair of thick, well defined legs that had more joints that a Human’s leg. Its feet were claw-like, sharp to the point not even metal would be able to put up any resistance.
Its torso and head seemed to be combined, with no neck, but it had a thicker exoskeleton around these vital areas that stopped around its waist.
As for its face, it was strangely Human-like, with a pair of eyes, ears, nose and mouth. However, they were oddly spaced, giving one the sense of seeing something alien.
This monster rushed out in an instant and using one of its four arms, it delivered a devastating punch.
In the face of its fist, even the protective barrier could not hope to hold up. In fact, the barrier shattered at the moment of contact, as if it could not even hope to put up any resistance.
Unhindered, the punch went through. Its target, the one operating the Array, and was on the verge of launching another blast of Purifying Light – Yang Xu!
Caught off guard, Yang Xu had no time to react. This attack came at her too quickly.
It was Yang Ji, who was just in front of her, who managed to react. He had moved beforehand once he felt something was off. In fact, earlier than when this monster had started its charge.
Unfortunately, he was too weak. The gap between them was too much to overcome. He knew that all too well. So, he instinctively sought not to clash against this monster but to prevent his Sister from getting hurt.
He turned around and dashed towards her. At the same time, he manipulated the surrounding Space Principles, all focused around Yang Xu.
Behind her, a Void Crack appeared. However, she seemed to not be moving. It was uncertain whether she was in too much of a shock to react or otherwise.
However, Yang Ji took no chances. He directly pushed her into the Void Crack, along with himself.
*Cii*
Once they both disappeared inside the Void Crack, Yang Ji originally thought that they were safe. However, he soon felt his left arm was strangely warm.
As he registered the warmth in his left arm, his senses gradually sharpened. The warmth was not comforting – it was spreading, wet and alarming. He looked down. There, he saw nothing but blood seeping down. What was supposed to be his hand had disappeared, and all that was left was liquid red.
The sight did not immediately connect with sensation. There was a strange disconnect between seeing the blood and feeling the injury. Then, the pain arrived. It was not a sudden jolt, but a rising tide. It started as a dull throb and quickly intensified into a searing heat that radiated from what remained.
The warmth of his own blood contrasted sickeningly with the cold sweat breaking out across his forehead. His breathing became shallow and rapid as shock began to set in. However, the circumstances proved too dire for him to fall right now.
He first cut off Yang Xu’s senses from his. The least he could do was to not let her notice for now.
He did not even make a sound. He just clenched his teeth from the searing pain and focused on the task at hand. [I can’t lose consciousness here damn it! I can’t!]
However, how could his Sister not notice? She had personally seen the moment his hand got taken from him before the Void Crack closed. Even the warm sensation was seared into her heart as the feeling suddenly got cut off.
She bit her lip, frustrated that she failed to protect him, while he had gotten injured in her place.
She wished she could cut the enemy into a thousand pieces, but she knew that she was currently too weak. Else, why would they have to hide in this eerie void?
Right now, all they could hope for was to escape. They were definitely not a match against that thing.
Unfortunately, even that proved difficult as two robust hands suddenly punched into the Void.
Yang Ji and Yang Xu could feel their hearts leap into their mouths as the supposedly closed Void Crack had started to be pried open.
Thankfully, Yang Xu had already been primed with the Crystals this time. Though afraid, anger won out as she initiated a concentrated blast of Purifying Light.
The beam struck true to its target. The monster lost its grip and got pushed back.
Yang Ji, not waiting for another second, once the Purifying Light beam ended, he immediately manipulated Space Principles into sealing off the Void Crack.
Seeming as though the danger had passed, Yang Xu immediately called out, “Brother!”
However, Yang Ji struck out his right hand, indicating to her to stop. This was clearly not over yet.
Compared to the large monster they had first dealt with, this one was far tougher. The earlier blast had only blown it back but had not killed it. It might be injured, but Yang Ji knew that even with injuries, the gap in their strength was far too wide. It could still easily kill them.
If Yang Ji was not mistaken, this must be the strength of a Royal Lord!
