MARTIAL PEAK

Chapter 6045, The Beam That Marked The Start

Chapter 6045, The Beam That Marked The Start

*Boom! Boom! Boom!*

While they were conversing, the sounds of explosive clashes seemed to be getting closer. This would mean that Mo Na Ye was being pushed back.

“Seems like we don’t have much time. You got this?” Yang Ji asked.

“Of course.” Yang Xu responded as she took out two Sixth-Order Crystals this time. [Best to start with something small.]

Since she did not know what extent the Space Principles she employed could perform, she started with the lowest grade of Crystals. She held them in both hands, the right at the top and the left as the bottom. When she started to activate Purifying Light, her hands were gently spaced apart, with the two Crystals floated up, in between her cupped hands.

Yang Ji could see that in between her hands and the Crystals, the Space within started to distort. Eventually, from the side, it would have seemed as if there were no Crystals at all.

Since the Purifying Light explosion was going to spread out in all directions, and they had no control over it, they just needed to change the definition of ‘all direction’. Yang Xu was demonstrating this first hand, with the Crystals only visible from the front. In any other direction, one would not be able to see the Crystals between her small hands.

*Ziiii* At the very next moment, a thick laser beam was released. It was about the thickness of a fist, and it shot straight through, cutting down anything in its path. Like always, the Protective Array did not hinder it, as it passed through and struck the ground at full force.

Like oil and water, anything the laser touched seemed to split apart. Though, it was more accurate to say that they immediately disintegrated upon contact.

Yang Xu just moved her arm a little, and the laser beam slid through the ground, creating a large cut in it.

Once the energy of the two Crystals had been exhausted, the beam ceased and the Crystals broke down into dust. Yang Xu, not wanting to dirty her hands, simply sent whatever remnants were left to the Void.

“Oh? This place is even connected to the Void?” Yang Ji exclaimed, with a small thought in mind. [I wonder if that means we can go back home through the Void?]

“No. The Void here is strange. This is not the usual Void that we know of.” Yang Xu, seeming to have read his mind, answered. She looked further ahead at her handiwork, amazed at the destruction.

There, in front of them, lay a flat land with a deep ravine. It was so deep, that even at their distance, their Divine Sense could not perceive its bottom.

This deep ravine stretched into the distance in a straight line, creating a sight as though the ground had been slashed by a Deity.

Yang Xu, amazed at what a pair of Sixth-Order Crystals could do, exclaimed, “I did all that? It wasn’t even that difficult.”

“Oh? You mean to say that you would be able to do it with Ninth-Order Crystals as well?” Yang Ji asked. He too wanted to give it a shot.

“I’m not so sure about that. We need to try it out to be sure. Brother, why don’t you give it a go?” Yang Xu asked in return.

“Sure-” Yang Ji smiled and excitedly took out two Ninth-Order Crystals before speaking. However, before he could do anything, his words were cut off by the quaking ground. It felt as though the whole world was awakening from their eternal slumber!

*Rumble*

Yang Ji immediately turned to look around. With the Array Plate in his other hand, he looked towards his Sister and moved his chin to indicate what they needed to do.

She jumped up into the air, to the top of the Protective Array, and scanned her surroundings.

“What the. There is something coming out from the ground!” Yang Xu exclaimed as she could see something moving in the ravine she had created. It was huge, far bigger than them by thousands of times. Still, in the crack within the earth, it seemed to be moving unfettered.

What it was, Yang Xu could not tell – it was simply that big.

“Why don’t you try blasting it?” Yang Ji joked.

“Are you crazy? How in the world are we going to take that thing on?”

Yang Ji shook his head. The way he saw it, if that thing was their enemy, they would eventually need to overcome it. Moreover, they were now in enemy territory. Mo Na Ye was engaging with a Royal Lord, blocking their route to escape back. Furthermore, Mo Na Ye took the fight to the enemy to make sure there was some distance from them. Worse, they would have to get past enemy lines to return back. In short, what else could they do but fight?

Certainly, being able to use Space Principles again meant that they were able to escape most situations. However, they were still restricted in its use. Yang Ji estimates that they would be doomed if they met a Territory Lord.

He turned to her, floated up and passed her the Array Plate, saying. “Alright. It’s fine if you don’t want to do it. But, I want to give it a shot.”

Yang Xu took the Array Plate and injected more Qi into it, strengthening the Protective Array. She sighed. She knew at this point, there was no changing his mind. Though reckless, she had to admit he was capable. All she could do now was to ensure their safety while he focused on attacking.

*Rumble* The trembling of the ground intensified, and a small portion of the gigantic figure could be seen erupting from the ground. It had an elongated body, similar to that of a maggot, with multiple legs of dozens. Each ‘foot’ looked like hands, with nails that were closer to claws.

On the small portion that was exposed, on its sides, were gigantic bumps. Occasionally, black gas would leak through, if not a liquid that poured and hardened once it touched the ground.

Its head, which was at the peak, lacked eyes. However, there were gigantic jaws that seemed capable of tearing countries apart.

By all accounts, this creature was disgusting to look at. It was more unfortunate that the twin had to use their Divine Sense in this place, getting a ‘clearer look’ of it.

Yang Xu gulped when she first saw that thing. As for Yang Ji, he gave a long exhale and made the same pose as what Yang Xu did earlier. This time, he directly used Ninth-Order Crystals.

“Die!” Yang Ji roared as an even more intense laser shot out. This time, it was the thickness of an entire torso.

As his arms trembled from containing the force, the beam struck true to its target.

*Rarrrrrrrrr!* An unholy screech rang out as the creature felt its body being pierced through. Its skins and flesh served no function in protecting it, as the searing pain tore through it like molten steel. The pain erupted from the point of impact, spreading outward in violent waves that sent violent convulsions through its massive frame. Each pulse of agony brought fresh torment, as if liquid fire had been injected directly into its nervous system.

Under the unbearable pain, the beast’s massive body began to betray it. The precise control it once commanded dissolving into erratic spasms as the earth it hid under was torn asunder.

Land, the size of cities, was uprooted, and cracks spread out throughout the land.

The Purifying Light scorched through its body. Yang Ji intended to slowly move the laser towards its head. However, due to its spasm, he missed, creating a horizontal line out rather than slicing it into two.

*Rarrrrrr!* Another screech came as it fell to the ground, escaping its torment. Seemingly a little elated, it took a second to regain itself. Still, this was not over – far from it. This beast soon turns to face the source, towards its tormentor, emitting killing intent that could crush bones into dust.

As for the twins, they felt cold sweat dripping down their backs.

On that day, a white light shone, seemingly piercing the Heavens. With this dark world as its backdrop, even from afar, all could see it. Some felt fear, some felt interest, some felt hope, and some felt grief.

Be that as it may, this marked the turning point. The war between the three remnants had reached its peak, and a new factor had come in to turn the tide.

All three, along with their Royal Lords, looked towards the sky as the gears of change had finally started to move.
