Chances of getting noticed and sneaked-attacked were present when roaming in the woods mindlessly. It wasn’t a good idea to stick around without taking further precautions. Roy changed his traveling tactics. He knew that, while his sixth sense could inform him of danger, if he himself were too slow to react to it, he would die. It was better to go around death than confront it head-on. Not to mention, his fall would result in the death of others.

He climbed up a tree like a skillful monkey and started jumping from tree to tree like a ninja, covering distances of several dozen meters with each leap, his eyes wandering in search of servants of chaos.

The forest was infested with the followers of Chaos.

At some point, a few entered his eyes.

They were on the ground, patrolling the area in search of invaders. He was on top of a tree, well out of their sight.

But they were heading in the direction of the very tree he was on, most likely to reach the next area that was to be patrolled.

He crouched, lowering the sound of his heartbeat and breaths.

He was waiting… waiting for them to step anywhere near this tree.

The second they do… this site will become their graveyard!

Roy wasn’t the only one sent to this place by the working of Fate, also called Far West. There were many others. But most were killed.

The followers were stronger than the trainees because they had chaotic energy. Their strength, cruelty, madness, and regenerative ability were far more ridiculous than anything these well-bred knights and mages have ever seen. They overpowered them quickly, killing most and hunting down the ones who ran away.

Yup, when they saw their side of the people falling one after another at the hands of the followers, most became fearful of confronting Chaos and ran away shamelessly, with their tails tucked between their legs.

But what they didn’t know was that the forests harbored monsters too, ones that never had the taste of humans, but after catching the scent of them, could instinctively tell they must taste good.

And hence, they became prey to the monsters, dying under their claws and fangs!

Those who survived were hunted down to the very last man by the followers.

Thus, Roy was pretty much the only one left in the Rocky Flame World who could go against Chaos.

Seeing that the followers were about to pass by the tree he was on, Roy’s eyes narrowed. He immediately made his move. A black figure shot down the tree, silvery sheen gushing out of his hand like arrows released from a serpent’s bow.

“Whoosh!”

This sound was produced by Reflection and Piercer barrelling through the air. The second this noise reached the ears of the followers, Roy’s swords pierced into the heads of two, splitting their faces into two symmetrical halves.

『Ding! Congratulation. You killed two Young Chaotic Warrior. You get +180 EXP!』

This notification rang in Roy’s mind when he landed on the ground, just six steps behind the remaining two followers. In his hands were magic bullets, the types which could burst open holes in the flesh of many.

The bodies of two followers fell to the ground… the eyes of the remaining two widened to the size of followers as a scream rolled up to the tip of their tongue… but before they could release it, Death’s hands grabbed their necks and applied great force to crank them. Roy’s Mana Bullets exploded on the right and left sides of their heads. The impact twisted their necks. A bone-chilling sound echoed. Beheld was a gruesome sight.

Humans wouldn’t survive in this condition. No, they would be long dead. Yet, they were still alive, although not breathing, and trembling like a crushed cockroach at its last breath or a fish out of water.

A representation of Chaos’s power gushed out of their hollow eyes. The black smoked wound around their necks, healing it.

Slowly, their necks were turning back to their original place.

But Roy didn’t give them to chance to recover.

“Whoosh!”

His sword was swung.

Their heads were cut off.

『Ding! Congratulation. You killed Two Chaos Servants. You get +300 EXP!』

Looting their corpses, he moved deeper into the forest cautiously.

『Ding! Congratulation. You killed 1 Chaos Acolyte, 1 Chaos Servant, and 1 Chaos Demi-Mage. You get +500 EXP!』

Another group was unlucky enough to cross his path. He didn’t fight them head-on, fearing they might have a way to relocate all the followers to one location. He assassinated them in cold blood.

『Ding! Congratulation. You killed 278 Followers of Chaos. You get +5000 EXP!』

Three hours passed with Roy killing followers of Chaos.

His clothes were soaked with their blood, and so were his hands.

He had been wounded too.

There were scratches on his body, but with gritted teeth, he ignored them.

Only this way would he feel numb to it.

His eyes were red, and his ears were ringing.

‘Until how long must I kill these human-like figures? If only they didn’t remind me of humans, I wouldn’t feel a thing killing them mindlessly.’ Roy tightened his palm into a fist.

He looked at himself.

No doubt, he was bloodied with human-like blood.

Yet, that blood is red, and this had darkness infused within.

Seeing that blood reminded him once again of what they truly were.

‘They aren’t humans. They are a new type of human-like creatures that prey on humans.’ He thought, his gaze hardening.

His hands were shaky. All that killing has physiologically affected him ever too slightly. But he forced them to stop by tightening his grip on the handle of his sword.

He looked heavenward.

Standing on top of a tree and remembering the millions of people who would die at their hands two years later, Roy solidified his slightly shaking stance against them.

“No matter how many more I come across, one, two, or a thousand of them, I will crush them. Dirtied my hands and swords might have become with their dark blood, but I won’t stop hacking them down until the bitter end.” He said wordlessly.

Even if their blood dyed his soul a deeper shade of red, he would still march on to kill them!

Either he dies.

Or they get extinguished to the very last man-eating man!

Right then, he felt warmness surging throughout his body, and then he felt his body burning, his eyes throbbing, his hands shaking violently, and strength filling every fiber of his being.

『Ding! Congratulation. Your strong feelings against Chaos have aroused your bloodline. You’ve awakened the First-Level bloodline of the Baldwin Clan. You get Power Boost. It’s a skill that can be activated once a month. All your basic stats will double temporarily. The time limit depends on the condition of your body.』

This was what Yiran had been talking about when he confronted Roy. But the power of the Count’s bloodline that gives him an advantage over others was not activated then. Now, it was. And It was clear how great it was.

What Roy was feeling vanished, leaving behind only a fire-like mark on the back of his neck.

Hearing this notification, he showed a surprised look.

There was no mention of this in the novel. Baldwin County was destroyed at the start of it. What happened to them next was unknown. But one thing was sure; this clan was not ordinary.

The power to double basic stats was ridiculous!

But he was happy to have received it.

It will be his new trump card against Chaos.

With this new power in his grasp, He became more confident about confronting GhostWalker, the leader of these Chaos followers.
