Stocking Up and New Foods

"Regarding your rooms, please use those two rooms over there."

"Are they single rooms?"

"No, both are double rooms."

"Then, one room will suffice."

"Will sleep together~”"

"Yes, so Takumi-san and the children in one room, and him—Kaiser-san, was it? He gets one room."

“”Kaiser together too~!”"

Having Kaiser use a room alone... would only cause problems, so it's better if he's in the same room with us. Fortunately, Allen and Elena made it look like they were being demanding, so we won't need a flimsy excuse to share the room.

"If any of Patrick-san's group is sharing a room, please use the room that was assigned to us."

There appear to be four rooms in total, so it's certain that Patrick-san's group is sharing rooms. Thus, I recommend they use the room we were going to use without leaving it vacant.

"Thank you. We'll discuss it later. Also, there's a small kitchen area over there. You can order food from the inn whenever needed, so we rarely use it. Feel free to use it as you like."

"Thank you. Then, we won't hesitate."

It seems the four of them rarely, if ever, cook, using the kitchen only for things like making tea. Even that is done solely by Eugene, who appears to be of commoner origin.

Well, it's unusual for nobles, especially men, to make their own tea, so it's probably strange that there aren't any servants here.

"We've also arranged for dinner for you. There's still some time before that, so please rest or check out the facilities."

"Alright, understood."

For the time being, we had free time until dinner.

"So, what should we do?"

Although we had just returned from the dungeon, neither the children nor I were particularly tired. Therefore, we didn't feel the need to lie down and rest.

"”Shall we make snacks?”"

"Snacks?"

"”Yeah.””

"Crepes and!"

"Ant Honey snacks!"

"Ah, we haven't made those yet."

The children remembered our plans to make various flavored crepes and snacks using green, red, and blue ant honey.

"Alright. Let's make them then."

Since preparing snacks for the children is important, I decided to use the kitchen right away.

"Let's start by making crepes."

"”Okay~”"

"Umu!"

Not only the children, but also Kaiser was ready to help.

"I'll keep cooking the batter, so the three of you wrap the fruits and cream."

"”Can we make whatever we want?"”

"Yes, but think carefully about the combinations. And since it's Kaiser's first time, make sure to teach him."

“”Okay~”"

With whipped cream, custard cream, chocolate sauce, anko, and various fruits and nuts prepared, there are countless possible combinations. Allen and Elena probably know how to balance things, but Kaiser might mix all sorts of ingredients together, so I'll have them keep an eye on him. 𐍂ÃNɵ𐌱Êṡ

“”Oniichan.””

"We made this."

"Can we mix them?"

"Huh? Wait, what do you mean?"

"”We won't know what we're getting."”

"Ah, I see."

Until we eat them, we won't know what's inside. It's like a lottery or a risk-free version of Russian roulette. Although, with Kaiser's combinations, there might be some misses.

"If we do that, we won't be able to grant requests like 'I want a chocolate banana crepe!', though."

"”That's fine~”"

"If you two are okay with it, you can mix them up."

So, while I cooked the batter, the children wrapped the crepes with whatever creams and fruits they thought of, producing a large quantity… I used a lot of the dishes in Infinite Storage. I'll need to stock up on more plates, as well as containers like tupperware and trays.

"”We made a lot~"”

"Now we won't have to worry about crepes for a while."

"”Yeah!"”

"I did my best too!"

"That's right. Kaiser, you gradually got better at wrapping them nicely."

At first, he overfilled them or tore them by pressing too hard. Well, the torn ones were shared among the children, so they weren't wasted. And as he made more, he improved.

"Kaiser, put some in your Magic Ring."

"Is that fine!?"

"Yes, it's fine. Allen and Elena won't mind, right?"

"”It’s okay~”"

"Just remember, they're for when you're alone, like when you're back at sea. No eating them when we're together."

"That's not allowed!"

"That's cheating!"

"Alright, I promise I won't do that!"

Kaiser made sure to promise the children, so he wouldn't secretly eat them and incur their wrath.

"However, I must say, Magic Rings are incredibly convenient. Before, I used to find food as needed, but now I can enjoy delicious meals anytime thanks to this."

"The time-delay feature is truly useful."

Even without the delay feature, just being able to carry a lot is convenient, but not having stored items deteriorate is really a great function.

"I'd like to give Allen and Elena some snacks to carry, but their bags only have a lot of capacity, so I can't give them anything perishable."

"”That's too bad~ But you know, but you know..."

"Allen's fine because he's always with you, Oniichan!"

"Elena’s always with Oniichan, too!"

"Hahaha~ I see."

They reassured me that since they're always with me, they don't need to carry their own snacks.

Their behavior is still mostly childlike with me. However, recently, they've been acting more maturely around others. So, I worry that soon... they might grow independent of me, which makes me a bit sad.

"Still, it would be nice if they could get bags or rings with the time-delay feature. It's really convenient."

"Hmm, we will continue to search for magic tools in the dungeon, and I'll look for them in the sea when I return."

"Please do."

Given that Kaiser already owns three Magic Rings without actively searching for them, I have a feeling he might actually find more.

"Now, what should we do next?"

Next up is using the ant honey, but it would be nice to make something where the colors stand out beautifully.

"Pancakes!"

"Hotcakes!"

"”Huh?”"

Allen and Elena looked at each other in confusion, tilting their heads. They thought they had said the same thing but didn't match.

"Sorry, that's my fault. They're just different names for the same thing."

I'm not entirely sure of the details, but I think hotcakes are a type of pancake. I've been using both terms inconsistently, which caused this confusion.

"Let's stick with pancakes since they're cakes cooked in a frying pan."

"”Let's make pancakes!”"

"We're mixing the ant honey into the batter, not just drizzling it on top, right?"

"”Yeah.””

We had discussed that mixing the honey would produce vibrant colors, unlike mixing vegetable paste, which wouldn’t highlight the colors as much. Hmm, maybe steaming them instead of frying would keep the colors bright?

"Allen, Elena, is it okay if we make steamed (mushi) cakes?"

I need to be careful since they might call steamed cakes "steamed bread," just like pancakes and hotcakes.

"Mushi (insects)?… Are we putting ants in them?"

"Eh? Ants? Ants!? No, not that kind of 'mushi'! I mean steaming the cakes like how you steam meat buns!"

I couldn't help but shout at their misunderstanding.
