Inheritor Of Magic: The Magi King

Chapter 1160 The Inheritors of Magic

Chapter 1160: 1160 The Inheritors of Magic

Twelve years wasn’t such a long time, in the grand scheme of things.

That was how long it had been since Wolfe took the throne. Not to the day, but close enough. Today was the children’s twelfth birthday party, and Nobles from every region of the world, as well as all of their allies, had gathered to greet the youngsters on their debutante appearance.

There had been many days of discussions on this tradition. Most of the Witches thought that it should wait until eighteen, as there would be no arranged marriages for the girls before that age, if ever. Cassie and Ella were adamant that the girls should get to marry for love, no matter how much political pressure was put on them.

Besides, they already had nine younger sisters if someone wanted to court a Noxus Family member for a future alliance.

Somehow, Ivan had managed to remain the only son, surrounded by daughters of four other species. He didn’t mind, though. The Noxus Heir was very protective of his little sisters, even though he was only just beginning the earliest stages of puberty, with the occasional squeak in his voice.

“Dad, there sure are a lot of people here. Do we even know that many people?” He whispered as they watched the main hall fill with guests for the party.

“Of course we do. See, there are the Guardians for Kanheim and Rencland with their spouses and children. Then there is Cassanova flirting with Duchess Carter from the Fallen Empire.

She’s the one who brought that set of Rings equipment for your last birthday.”

Ivan smiled. Rings was a great game, even if he did have to get someone to enchant a broom for him so he could fly to play it. When he was a little older, he would be able to do it himself, and already his control was far more precise than any of his sisters.

The only ones that he couldn’t out fly were Calypso and Maria, but they had wings, and that was completely unfair. Well, they weren’t the only ones with wings, but Rue wasn’t all that agile in the air.

She was much more deadly in a sparring match, though.

Keeping up with all his sisters was the goal of young Ivan’s life. They all had some sort of advantage over him, but as the oldest, he couldn’t admit that they might actually be better than him unless he couldn’t physically do the thing.

Ivan gave a brief moment of thanks that cousin Alexander wasn’t his brother. Auntie Risa had found a husband only a year after he was born, and their son was born six months after the wedding. But they were both Wrathbringers, and her husband was one of the guard officers, and a six-metre tall Overlord.

Alex was taking after his father, and even at ten years old, he was nearly three metres tall and approaching the third Rank. Ivan hadn’t beat him in a sparring match in nearly two years.

“Alright, we’re up first, then your sisters will come out in two hours. This time is all yours.”

Ivan smiled. Most of the time, every event was shared because there were so many kids in the family, and because the three of them all had the same birthday.

The twins had been offered the same, staggered parties, but they had chosen to celebrate together.

Wolfe led Ivan to the door and winked at him. “Let me enter first, then wait thirty seconds. That way you get your own introduction.”

Wolfe nodded at the doorman, and a short drumroll alerted everyone to the fact that the King was entering. Ivan waited nervously as the excitement died down and Wolfe found either a seat or a group to talk to.

Ivan did his best to look respectable, so that the cute girls who had come from all his father’s allies wouldn’t think that he was a loser, then stepped forward with his best smile on.

“Ivan David Noxus, son of King Wolfe Noxus.” The doorman announced.

The room broke out into applause as he entered, and Ivan noticed that a number of the girls swooned when his smile was turned on them.

It was a somewhat satisfying feeling, but he would have to keep up the charm for the rest of the evening, first impressions wouldn’t last forever.

He made his way down the stairs toward the crowd as they clapped and cheered, before engulfing him in a wave of birthday wishes.

It was a great feeling, and Ivan happily greeted both the foreign leaders and the children that they had brought with them to meet the birthday Royals.

There was something off about the day, though. He had wanted to separate his celebration from his sisters so that he could have a bit of party to himself, but without them here, it felt a little empty.

But the sweet snacks were wonderful, and there were so many new people to meet that the time simply flew by until the voice of the doorman caught everyone’s attention again.

“Maria and Calypso Noxus, daughters of King Wolfe Noxus.”

Ivan led the crowd in welcoming them, and the twins spread their wings for balance as they curtsied at the top of the stairs.

Then, the most fantastical thing happened. The overflow of mana from so many powerful beings in the room seemed to flow into them, and the two young Witches auras formed at the same time, solidifying around them with two distinctly different feelings to them.

Maria, blessed by the Lowest Planes, had the feeling of a newborn eldritch being overlaid on her Witch aura.

Calypso, blessed by the Upper Planes, seemed to glow with Holy Light, and had a calming aura to her that immediately offset the dangerous feeling of her twin sister.

Hand in hand, they walked down the stairs, waving to the crowd. Ivan ran up to hug them in congratulations, wrapping his arms around them.

In that first moment of contact, a surge of magic spread between them, drawn from Wolfe, and on each of the children’s left arm, a simple golden copy of the Noxus Family crest briefly flared to life before fading out of sight as the Inheritance spell took hold.

Ivan couldn’t access much of his magic yet, and wouldn’t be able to until eighteen, but his sisters would be starting to build their auras now. That was enough to activate the Inheritance, and tomorrow, after the party was over, they would be starting proper training as Witches with their tutors.

So, not only was it a birthday party, but an awakening party for the twins.

Ivan held the twins up as the formation of their auras and the Inheritance mark made them momentarily dizzy, then stepped aside to let them join the crowd.

It was hard for anyone to dislike the twins, even with the new aura of Unholy Magic that Maria gave off.

Ivan followed the twins to the floor, and the band began to play.

A young teen girl, perhaps a year or two older than Ivan, held out her hand as he approached.

“Would you care to dance?” She asked hopefully.

“I would love to.”

Ivan took her hand, and then noticed that like his sisters, his dance partner also had wings. Gossamer ones, like a dragonfly, and they were beautiful, while looking incredibly fragile.

The crowd parted to let the birthday trio dance with their first partners of the night.

The crowd began to pair off for an energetic dance, and every time the siblings passed a new person, they received a fresh round of congratulations.

Somehow, the song never seemed to end, and they were just moved between partners until they were so tired that they had to excuse themselves to sit and rest.

That seemed to be the cue for the party to start winding down, and the younger guests to begin preparing to head to their rooms for the evening. But before they left, Wolfe had one last thing to say to them.

“Thank you all for coming tonight, I know that a lot has changed in the past few years, and it still feels like my children should be babies, not fledgling Witches and Magi.

But this is the Noxus Family, and not the Chronos Family, I can’t turn back time.

So, before you all return to your suites, please join me in a toast.

Here’s to the next generation of the Noxus Family. To the Inheritors of Magic.”
