Chapter 1132: 1132 Home Sweet Home

The father of the bride stared at the two as the magic faded, and then began to laugh hysterically, pointing in a most undignified manner at the groom.

The new Bishop of Sulzheim looked incredibly confused, but the man was laughing too hard to make any sort of coherent sense.

So, Wolfe came to his rescue.

“What he is trying to say, in the least elegant possible way, is that you might have gotten into this marriage faster than any Bishop before you, but you won’t get out. I recommend that the two of you do your very best to keep each other happy, as the wedding vows that you swore will smite you if you are taking your partner for granted.

Also, I don’t know the custom in your region, but I wouldn’t recommend even trying to take a concubine or a surrogate stud for children. The spell will quite literally kill you if you do.” He explained.

The two of them looked quite shocked at the situation, but the young Bishop gave an adoring glance at his new bride.

“I think that we can make that work. I am not the sort that needs many women to keep him happy, and if we can recreate even a small portion of the instant attachment from our first moments together, we should be just fine.”

Rail gave Wolfe a subtle thumbs up, indicating that she had something that would help with that, and Wolfe patted the groom on the shoulder.

“Look forward to something good in your wedding gifts. They will be delivered soon, as we didn’t have an opportunity to fully prepare.”

Then he raised his voice. “Today is a joyous occasion, we have a newlywed couple to celebrate with a feast. I will also extend my hospitality to them, should they wish to have a honeymoon getaway here within the Frozen Wastes. There are suites available both in the Noxus Castle and in Forest Grove.”

A few of the other leaders who had brought children to match make this week sighed. If it had been them, it would have been a perfect opportunity to get their kids to build a stronger bond with the Pentacle members.

Unfortunately, their children were well enough behaved that there were no late night shenanigans or questions about their honour.

For their family reputation, that was a great thing. For the chance to meet up with the Magi King’s family, it was a missed opportunity. But these weren’t their heirs. Those had long since been arranged into politically advantageous marriages, for the most part.

The fact that the Bishop had brought his only son along, instead of one of his many daughters, was a surprise to all those who knew him.

The old man had been holding off for exactly this reason. As soon as the boy was old enough to be married, he was legally to take over the leadership position and make his father a Revered Elder of the nation.

But it also meant that they had an excuse for another whole day of parties. Wedding parties for leaders never ended after one day, so they would be partying through the night and into the next day.

Wolfe could sense the annoyed emotions of the cooks as they began to rework the menu yet again to make a proper dinner suitable for a wedding reception. It wouldn’t be all that much different than what they had already planned as a formal dinner for the next day, but they were expecting that most of the guests would have gone home during the day, which now seemed somewhat unlikely.

The ones who didn’t know the couple at all might leave, and many of the Guardians had work to do. But work so urgent that they couldn’t simply ignore it for one more day?

Probably not.

Wolfe felt a mental link from the new Pentacle members as Monika tried to get his attention.

[What’s up?]

[Should I get a bunch of Dwarven liquor and leave the whole party so hungover that they go home to recover when they wake up tomorrow afternoon?]

Wolfe smiled at the thought. It was likely futile, except for the humans.

[They probably won’t leave, but send for more liquor anyhow. We’re going to have more guests for the week than expected, and it’s all been parties, so we will run low on both Ale and Whisky.]

That led to an influx of Dwarves from the Fae Realm only a few minutes later. It was Dwarven custom that the delivery person got to stay if they delivered on short notice for a party, so each of them had brought one cask.

Fortunately, both the humans and the witches had many short women in their numbers, so the 140cm tall Dwarven men had someone to dance with that wasn’t horribly awkward. Dwarven dancing wasn’t often paired like human slow dancing, though.

The guests who didn’t already know were quickly adapting, as a small group of Dwarves happily took over from the band.

Cassie laughed as the gathering of world leaders began to resemble a tavern dance hall, with pints of Dwarven Ale, and political leaders taking shots from trays full of liquor left on tables.

One of the Lust Demon guardians staggered over to Wolfe a half hour later as he sat chatting with random guests.

“Dwarves really know how to party, but how did the liquor make it past the security spells? That stuff is definitely harmful.” He slurred.

“It won’t actually harm you. Just try not to fall down the stairs and you should be fine.” Wolfe joked.

“There is a pretty maid at the top of the stairs, turning everyone around. I should go say hello to her again.” He agreed, then stumbled away.

“Remind me to apologize to the staff at tomorrow’s meeting.” Wolfe whispered to Ella, who was sitting beside him, as Cassie chatted with a group of ladies at the table behind them.

“I will make a note. I have also sent the staff for pillows because I can already tell that many of the guests are not going to make it back to their rooms.”
