Chapter 1092: 1092 Resonance

Once the spells were in place and verified for security, Silvana gestured toward Cassie and Ella while speaking to Wolfe.

“You need to pass the control of your barrier to one of the others. If it’s reliant upon your magic, it will most likely fail when your mana turns inward before the surge, and if you leave it disconnected, it won’t have the power to hold.” She explained.

Wolfe passed the control of the defensive barrier just before a portal opened and a dozen more people arrived.

“What is this? Are we hosting a party?” Wolfe called down, recognizing the distinctive aura of Incubus King Leandro.

“The old farts sent me here. They said that you need every member of the Pentacles near you to minimize issues, not just the Saints, and then I picked up Rail and Dana from the advancement rooms, in case you needed a few more.” He explained.

“I asked Vlad to inform me when they woke up.” Karl sighed.

“Don’t be too mad at him. I sensed their advancement and went to check on them, so I was the first to know, and I was coming here anyhow.”

Wolfe extended his senses through the portal and found the Vampire on the other side, hiding in the shadows.

“Thank you for your assistance, Vlad. You can close the portal now if it’s uncomfortable. We will make sure that you get all the updates that you need.” Wolfe called.

He sensed the vampire bowing, and the remote viewing spell that he left behind before he closed the portal. He might not be able to come out in the sunshine, but Vlad was happy to record this advancement for the official records.

There was already far too large of a gap for him to be comfortable with, and he was determined to get a proper recording of the moment when the first Magi King in centuries made his debut.

“Is there anything else that I should do before I start? Safety measures we might have forgotten?” Wolfe asked now that there was someone here who had gone through the process themselves.

“This is more than enough. You’re so well attuned to the mana of this world that you almost don’t have an aura at all. By all measures, this should be one of the smoothest advancements to King that I’ve ever seen.

Well, I suppose King Petros had it easier, but we won’t count that.” King Leandro noted.

Wolfe prepared to make the changes to alter his mana core formation. He wouldn’t move the outer seven, he was going to make a Balance Core in the centre, two cores entwined in an intricate knot.

According to the information that he had found about the Lowest Planes, that should cause them to resonate and naturally generate mana more efficiently. They would become the working Cores for the King, while the others became reserve mana for emergencies.

Wolfe began to shape his central core, forming it to the desired shape, while the surrounding mana shuddered and pulsed with the emitted mana from the manipulation.

But Wolfe barely noticed.

His eyes were closed as he worked, forcibly expanding the core beyond its limits as he shaped it to the desired outcome. The knot was tied a hundred times and horribly difficult to form while the two halves were not just touching but still connected, but from what he could tell, the world’s mana was not rejecting his efforts.

That was the great fear: that his attunement would be incomplete, and he would get halfway through then run into a barricade, where it was impossible to pass due to poor integration with the world.

Wolfe double-checked the shape of his entwined mana cores and prepared for the last step. He needed to separate the stretched core into two pieces, and then rotate them slightly so that they were perfectly spaced at all points along the hundred twists.

Wolfe was so engrossed in his work that he hadn’t noticed when portals began to open all over the pillar.

From all over the Planes and open worlds of their Realm, Kings had gathered when they felt the ascension of a strange being. Wolfe’s unique method had stunned them, and they couldn’t help but stare in awe at the mana flows above them.

From the edge of the platform, standing under an umbrella to keep them out of the sun, a man with tentacles growing from his face smiled at a woman with crab claws for hands on long arms above six thin tentacles.

“How long do you think he had to study the Elders to decipher that technique,” the woman asked.

The man’s facial tentacles flailed as he reached out with his mind and was rebuffed by Wolfe’s defensive array.

“I think that he has been blessed. That power doesn’t belong to these mortal worlds. The Underlords of Pandemonium have been meddling again.” He replied.

“Do you think that the Light Beings are going to let him advance?” She asked, overcome with curiosity at the spectacle.

“Just wait, the fun part hasn’t started yet.”

As he spoke, murmurs of unrest began to spread through the platform. The first of the visitors had realized that all the mana in the area was attuned to the advancing King, and they couldn’t close their portals.

Now, they were all Kings themselves, and they were in no danger from his advancement, but the open portals were bleeding mana from their home worlds into this one, where it was being sucked up by the new King.

If he pulled too much foreign mana in, it could interfere with his attunement and stop his advancement.

But it was already so late in the process, that they were more concerned that the newly formed cores would cause damage to their homes when he had to balance his power.

Wolfe could feel the imbalance on the platform, but didn’t know that it wasn’t naturally occurring. All his attention was on his work, so he simply adjusted one of his cores to each of the unique signatures that he was feeling in the mana, bringing himself back into a balanced state.

Some of those mana signatures felt very strange, but he didn’t have the ability to think about it now.
