I Was Caught up in a Hero Summoning, but That World Is at Peace

Chapter 2235: Miyama Kaito's Birthday Celebration Party ㊲

Between the live shows, they made sure to give us a decent amount of free time. In my case, I used that time to spin the garapon and receive some gifts.

Still, the atmosphere was really nice…… I had no idea what to expect when it all started, but this birthday party turned out to be way more fun than I imagined.

What made it great was that, despite the fact that the place was packed with well-known people and the venue was absolutely extravagant, it didn’t feel overly formal or stiff. Everyone was just doing their own thing, laughing and having fun. That kind of laid-back vibe really worked.

Thanks to that, I didn’t feel overly tense either. I could just enjoy the game tournament and live performances, receive gifts, and have casual conversations at my own pace.

Thinking about how the event was run, I got the impression that Alice probably had a big hand in organizing things. I’m sure it was all carefully planned so I wouldn’t feel too uptight or uncomfortable.

Feeling grateful for that, I gave the garapon another spin……

<MEGIDDO ARGETES BORGNES>

Oh, next up is Megiddo-san…… I remember she was super into watching video games earlier. As for her gift…… yeah, it’s definitely gonna be alcohol. There’s no doubting that. In fact, I’d be more surprised if it wasn’t alcohol.

While I was thinking that, Ein-san brought Megiddo-san over to me…… Oi, wait, Why is she in her little girl form? Last time I saw her, she was in her usual massive, 10-meter magic beast form…… Why go out of the way to take on her little girl form? Don’t tell me…… does Megiddo-san actually think that kind of appearance is my type? Seriously…… I might need to have a proper talk with her later.

[Ou, Kaito. I’m here!]

[Hello, Megiddo-san. Thank you for coming today.]

[It’s a celebration, don’t sweat it. Not that I really helped much with the setup or anything. I tried to, but Shalltear told me to stay out of the way.]

[Ahh……]

Megiddo-san…… how do I say this…… it’s not that she has bad taste or anything, but if left to her own devices, she’d probably let her personal preferences run wild. I could totally see her turning the place into something more like a party hall or even a banquet hall…… Well, that could be fun in its own right, but it probably wouldn’t mesh with the rest of the theme. I bet Alice told her to keep a low profile because of that.

[Well, Shalltear’s way better at this kind of stuff anyway, so I did as I was told…… Still, World Creators are on a whole other level, huh? Just look at this venue, there are materials here we couldn’t even dream of recreating in our world……]

[Eh? R- Really?]

[Ou. Even the chair you’re sitting on, Kaito, that thing’s made of some completely unknown material. I’m staring right at it and I still can’t figure out what it is……]

She said it so casually, but…… Eh, this chair is that impressive? Sure, it feels great to sit in and I hadn’t felt tired at all, but to think it’s made from a material even Megiddo-san can’t identify…… That’s definitely something Shiro-san or Makina-san whipped up from scratch.

[Well, whatever! More importantly, it’s time to celebrate! Here, Kaito, I brought you some good booze.]

[Thank you. Just as I expected, alcohol huh?]

[With this many people around, there’s gonna be a mountain of gifts, right? So in the end, stuff you can actually use up is the easiest to deal with. You can never have too much alcohol after all.]

[Ahaha, that’s just like Megiddo-san…… But you’ve got a point.]

Just as I expected, it was alcohol, but like Megiddo-san said, consumables are definitely easier to accept without pressure. Judging by the container, it looked like a really high-quality bottle. Megiddo-san really knows her alcohol, so I’m sure she picked something that suits my taste. I’m genuinely looking forward to drinking it.

[Come to think of it, Megiddo-san, you seemed pretty into the video game earlier.]

[Yeah, they were really well made. I was impressed…… When you use them as simulated combat with set restrictions, they actually let people with vastly different skill levels fight on even ground. It’s a smart system. But trying to replicate something like that with magic tools seems way too complex.]

[The setup’s different, but Alice made a VR game for the Six Kings Festival……]

[That one’s also a little different. I tried it myself, and the basic concept reminded me of…… you know, that mind comparison magic I used on you before. It’s like pulling just your consciousness into a separate space. But that kind of magic usually comes with strict conditions. For example, the mind comparison magic won’t activate unless both sides agree to it. Shalltear’s game works under similar principles.]

[So Alice’s VR game has some sort of conditions attached too?]

[Yeah. I’d guess that part of the setup involves an explanation beforehand, and the act of “choosing to put on” the animal suit embedded with magic crystals and magic formulas counts as giving consent for the spell contract…… Well, even setting that aside, just creating a pseudo-space to project your consciousness into burns through a ton of resources, so it’s not easy.]

Come to think of it, Alice did say something like that, the VR game was way too expensive to make under normal circumstances, but she pulled it off because Shiro-san was sponsoring it and let her use as many materials as she wanted.

Games like that are incredibly complex, and if you’re trying to recreate that kind of programming with magic formulas, it must be insanely difficult. When it comes to detailed mechanics like that, maybe machines really are clearly superior to magic tools.

<Afterword>

Serious-senpai : [So, care to explain yourself?]

Makina : [Eh? Explain what?]

Serious-senpai : [What exactly do you mean when you call people “lumps of flesh” all the time……?]

Makina : [Oh, that? I mean it exactly as it sounds. Let’s see…… how should I put it……? It’s like, a state where I haven’t recognized any individual value in them yet. From my perspective, the difference in physical capabilities between most of such beings is so minor, it’s basically negligible. Anything below Quasi-Omnipotent level, really, I can’t even perceive much of a difference. So to me, anything below that tier doesn’t have enough individuality in their physical traits to register as distinct. They’re just talking lumps of flesh.]

Serious-senpai : [……Right, I guess to someone like you, the gap between a regular person and a Peerage Holder is just a rounding error……]

Makina : [Calling them all “Humans” or “Demons” or whatever doesn’t sit right with me either, and I’m not exactly interested in tailoring my terminology to each world. So I lump them together and call them “talking lumps of flesh”. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. That label just means they’re still in the pre-evaluation stage for me. Once I see something that sets them apart, something that makes me acknowledge their individuality, they stop being just flesh and gain value in my eyes. Like with Lilia…… She started out as a talking lump of flesh, but I ended up sympathizing with her struggles, feeling for how she got dragged around, and she even helped me out a few times. All that made me recognize her value as something unique.]

Serious-senpai : [H- Hmmm…… Right. So basically, if we ignore the whole “lump of flesh” terminology, it’s kinda like how Shiro was at the beginning, seeing most things as equally uninteresting, without individual value……]

Makina : [Yeah, more or less. Though I do have exceptions. My children, for instance, already have immense value to me right from the start, because they’re my children. I openly play favorites with them, and to me, each one is special from the very beginning. I’ll admit to that bias. But that doesn’t mean I’m saying the children from other worlds are worthless. When I call someone a lump of flesh, it just means I haven’t found anything in them worth evaluating yet. But once I recognize someone’s value, once I remember their name, I’ll call them by it. And I treat them decently too. I’m even pretty tolerant of a bit of disrespect. Lunamaria’s a good example.]

Serious-senpai : [……Unn, I see…… Even a terrifying God has their own standards huh…… What about those nobles you threatened?]

Makina : [Unn? That isn’t the case, okay? I just had a proper talk with those lumps of flesh…… As for those trash worse than the others, I had to discipline them harshly. Especially the ones who even think about using or were looking down on my beloved child…… Those ones? Yeah, there’s no saving them.]

Serious-senpai : [Ah, yes……]
