I Get A Random New Occupation Every Week
Chapter 2161: Teach Them a Lesson“The main thing is, I did not expect them to be so arrogant,” said Ma Xinglong gravely.
“Really thinking that just because they are from Zhong Hai, they can handle any case?”
“In my opinion, we should not follow this matter anymore; let Li Hao and his partner handle it,” Ma continued.
“I have no problem with that.”
The person speaking was sitting on one side of the conference table with short hair, giving off a very profound impression.
“From the time the incident occurred until now, I’ve dug up quite a bit of information. It’s only a matter of time before I catch those people. I don’t need any help, actually. Their arrival, frankly, seems rather superfluous to me.”
“You’re truly worthy of being a top student from the Public Security University. I love that confidence of yours,” Xu Jun said with a hearty laugh.
“Brother Jun, this isn’t about confidence. The case really isn’t big, nor is it complicated. For me, it’s just a trivial matter,” Li Hao said with a smile.
“Moreover, I feel that you two really don’t need to intervene. Why use a sledgehammer to crack a nut? Just let Little Zhou and me take full responsibility.”
The person Li Hao referred to as Little Zhou was the woman sitting next to him, named Zhou Min. Her long hair was tied up, and although she was not tall, she exuded a very capable aura.“Old Xu, what do you think?” asked Ma Xinglong.
“I think it’s fine,” Xu Jun replied.
“You know the capabilities of Little Li and Little Zhou, both are graduates from top universities. They worked together last year to solve several major cases. Handling this should be a breeze. Additionally, Zhong Hai sent four people, and we’re only sending two, which will showcase our strength quite well.”
“That makes sense,” Ma said.
“When the others arrive later, I will lead a meeting. After that, the case will be in their hands.”
“Let’s do that.”
Xu Jun was sitting casually in his chair, legs crossed.
“Little Li, Little Zhou, Zhong Hai has sent four youngsters over here. Put plainly, they are simply not taking us seriously,” Xu Jun said.
“But with both of you here, we can relax. Show them a thing or two, so they learn what true ability and level are.”
“Brother Jun, rest assured, I will show them what a ‘gap’ really means,” Li Hao stated confidently.
As they spoke, footsteps could be heard from outside the door.
Following that, there was a knock, and Chen Hongyu walked in.
“Captain Ma, Captain Xu, the people from Zhong Hai Xishan Branch have arrived.”
“Let them in,” Ma Xinglong said indifferently.
Chen Hongyu welcomed Lin Yi and Gu Yiran inside.
Despite some resentment, they all got up out of politeness, greeted each other, and made introductions.
After the four of them sat down, the meeting officially began, chaired by Ma Xinglong.
“Before you arrived, I communicated with Inspector Li on the phone again, and we feel that these two cases are highly related and should be combined,” Ma opened.
Gu Yiran nodded, “The two cases do share many similarities, and it’s very likely they were committed by the same group.”
“We have some leads on our side,” Ma continued.
“On the afternoon the child went missing, the surveillance showed two women taking the child and driving off in a van. After two days of investigation, we found that the van drove to a place called Victory Village. We were waiting for you to come over so we could handle this together.”
“It’s necessary to visit this Victory Village,” he concluded.
Ma nodded, tapped his ash, and said,
“I’ve just decided that the four of you, along with Little Li and Little Zhou from our branch office, will handle this case. They all have reputable academic backgrounds and are very experienced. They will lead you well, and the case should be resolved shortly.”
Gu Yiran’s brows furrowed slightly, but he quickly eased them and politely said,
“Then we’ll have to trouble you.”
“If there are no other comments, let’s conclude the meeting here. Prepare yourselves and go check out Victory Village.”
“Alright.”
“One moment, please.” Lin Yi suddenly said,
“I’ve reviewed the file just now, and the case on your side involved a nanny named Wu Jinyu. At what stage is the investigation on her?”
“We’ve interrogated her three times and found nothing,” Li Hao replied.
“Nor is there any large sum of money in her family’s bank account. We can almost rule her out as a suspect; it seems she lost the child by accident.”
After a brief pause, Lin Yi said, “Can she be called in again? I have some questions for her.”
Lin Yi felt this person was key.
If she was also involved in exchange for money, then the link between the two cases would be significant. Otherwise, the likelihood would be greatly reduced.
So, before investigating Victory Village, Lin Yi was keen to see her.
The eyes of the Longhu Branch officers all fell on Lin Yi, sizing him up for quite some time.
“Do you not trust our investigation?”
“That’s a serious claim. I simply want to meet her, that’s all.”
“Since you’ve made such a request, we’ll call her,” Li Hao said.
“But I don’t think you should get your hopes up, because after interrogating her three times, we’ve exhausted all her information. It’s unnecessary to waste more time.”
“Don’t worry, I have my own ways.”
After the meeting, everyone left the conference room one after another.
Lin Yi and his team were accommodated in the duty room for temporary rest.
“Lin Bro, do you want to see this Wu Jinyu because you’ve found something?” Zhang Zixin asked.
Lin Yi shook his head. “I just want to meet her to get a sense of the connection between the two cases.”
“But the people here seem to have pretty much finished their investigations, and they don’t seem too willing to let us look into it, as if they’re afraid of trouble.”
“We still have to check it out, in case there’s a breakthrough.”
Zhang Peng laughed smugly, lighting a cigarette and said,
“I deeply respect Lin Bro’s interrogation skills. If even Lin Bro can’t get anything out of her, it probably means this Wu Jinyu is clean.”
Meanwhile, Li Hao and the others went to Ma Xinglong’s office and puffed away on their cigarettes.
“That kid is quite amusing. When things are about to start, he actually wants to see the suspect,” Xu Jun said with disdain.
“Young people like to show off. Otherwise, how would they boast to their leaders when they go back?” Ma Xinglong said with a laugh, tinged with sarcasm.
“But the problem is, he chose the wrong audience to show off to,” Xu added.
“A young guy in his twenties trying to impress us? It’s a bit funny.”
