I Became the Little Demon in Leading Role's Family
Chapter 123 - 123 123 Does He Have No ShameChapter 123: Chapter 123 Does He Have No Shame? Chapter 123: Chapter 123 Does He Have No Shame? If Xingxing felt like crying, she should just have a good cry. It truly was a beautiful misunderstanding.
The biggest difference between Chopped Chili Sauce and soybean paste is that the former can be made with fresh chilies and garlic chopped continuously with a kitchen knife until it turns into a paste.
Bai Zhi wielded a knife in each hand, her hands flying in unison.
Soon, the large chilies turned into chili rings and eventually into minced chili…
At first, it felt great, but as time passed, the tears began to flow from the spiciness. Wu Wa watched Bai Zhi chop and cry, which really made a striking image.
But it seemed quite fun, so the two of them started taking turns. The difference in strength meant different speeds, and Wu Wa was chopping much faster.
It wasn’t much, just about a large bottle’s worth of Chopped Chili Sauce, which could be stored for about a month. Any longer and it wouldn’t be fresh unless something else was added. However, Bai Zhi didn’t like that; she preferred her Chopped Chili Sauce fresh.
Of course, soybean paste was different; it could be kept for a whole year without any problems.
Once the Chopped Chili Sauce was prepared, just adding salt brought out its fragrance, a scent unique to chilies and garlic. Even just like this, it was excellent for dipping tofu pudding.
Bai Zhi went to handle the soy milk she had set aside. Once reboiled, she could add finely chopped cabbage, salt, ginger, and a bit of vegetable oil.
After half an hour, it was ready. The aroma of the soy milk combined deliciously well with the taste of cabbage, and when eating it, you could add a spoonful of Red Oil Chili.
Wu Wa, hooked on chopping, eventually minced meat as well, prompting Bai Zhi to think for a moment before deciding to make braised meatballs.
To the minced meat, she added tofu, egg, and starch and began to fry them, as they were to be braised later and thus made quite large. Once nearly done, they were taken out to begin braising.
Oil was added along with scallions, ginger, garlic, fresh Chopped Chili Sauce, water, and soy sauce before adding the meatballs.
Once brought to a boil over high heat and the meatballs were done, the sauce was thickened with starch on a simmer, and then some greens were blanched and laid at the bottom of the bowl. The meatballs were placed on top, and the sauce was poured over them, finishing with a sprinkle of chopped scallions.
This was the braised meatball dish, along with a serving of tofu pudding.
Making tofu pudding required speed. All the ingredients went into the pot quickly; Bai Zhi didn’t like using soybean or chili sauces for tofu pudding, preferring Red Oil Chili. She added it directly with a bit of water and salt, then gently added the tofu pudding and simmered it on low heat to flavor.
The tofu was also ready, best suited for frying slowly on low heat. Toward the end, oil and garlic were added, followed by soy sauce and MSG.
Once everything was prepared, Bai Xiang and the others returned. Seeing the table filled with dishes made using tofu, tofu pudding, and soy milk, they all gave Bai Zhi thumbs up.
The braised meatballs were particularly flavorful and soft, thanks to the added tofu.
The tofu pudding was spicy and numbing, momentarily making them think they were eating Mapo tofu pudding.
It was especially good with rice, and Bai Xiang finally understood why Bai Fei had gained weight; this was the reason.
After eating, they prepared to watch Bai Dan herd pigs, though they didn’t plan to take them to town but directly to Bai Ming’s house to help look after them for a few months. The chickens, however, were to be taken away, and Bai Dan would also return daily to spend the evenings with the children in town.
What was there to see in pig herding?
Of course, there was something to see. Watching Bai Dan wielding a bamboo whip, he opened the gate of the pigsty and began to call out.
“Piggy oink, piggy oink, piggy oink…”
The little pigs obediently followed him out, and if they went the wrong way, Bai Dan would swing the bamboo whip.
“Piggy oink, piggy oink…”
The little pigs would obediently follow, and they watched in amazement. It truly was magical.
Several little ones followed Bai Dan, watching as the little pig obediently was herded into another pigpen at Bai Dan’s house, then locked in. The first thing they did was to feed it salt water.
It was said that this would make the little pig behave.
In the afternoon, Bai Zhi and the others planned to make some canned goods, not too many, just over a hundred bottles. This week was ending and school would be starting.
When Bai Da and his group found Ye Xiu, although somewhat prepared, they really didn’t see Xingxing. Ye Xiu was still very upset because Xingxing didn’t come.
Ye Xiu took out the tuition fees he had prepared for them, but Bai Da refused, saying he had already prepared himself. He had originally wanted to buy something for Ye Xiu but didn’t in the end. Worried about angering Ye Xiu, this time’s group pet clearly felt that Mom wasn’t too happy to see them, was it because Sister didn’t come?
Or was it because she wasn’t the daughter Mom was hoping to see, so she was very upset?
…
Although they needed to register, they could go in the afternoon. Bai Zhi and the others had packed up everything and were ready to take it all into town.
Because there were so many items, they had to make two trips. Bai Zhi, ever concerned about her chili peppers and green beans among other things, planned to take them over for processing.
Last night, they hardly rested at all, why? Because they were rushing to finish their homework, and only when they had barely finished did dawn break.
Bai Fei went back to catch up on sleep. Bai Xiang could only have Wu Wa come with them. Bai Zhi narrowed her eyes; this was perfect, as she still needed to go and make some money.
She put the chili sauce and the bean paste into her basket, ready to meet up with Moh Li.
When she arrived in the mountains, it was very quiet.
There were no people in sight; had she been stood up?
After a long time, Bai Zhi, growing impatient, was ready to head back. Just at that moment, she heard an urgent voice.
“Bai Zhi,”
Bai Zhi looked over. Moh Li was lethargic, his clothes torn, carrying an oversized basket that looked absurd on him. It wasn’t that baskets were bad, just too big for him, and he didn’t know how to carry it properly. The basket was so laden it seemed it might fall to the ground at any moment, and in his hand, he also held a rooster.
Seeing Bai Zhi staring at him, he then realized what he must look like, and just as he was about to say he could…
The weight on his back suddenly eased a lot; he was being lifted up, naturally by Bai Zhi.
“I’ll do it; you’re too weak.”
Those words made Moh Li completely crumble. He clung to the basket and didn’t let go, moving forward a great distance before finally turning back, looking at Bai Zhi with a calm and composed expression,
“Hurry up and follow me.”
If he really gave it to Bai Zhi, would he still have any pride left?
It was just a bit tiring.
And that rooster kept fluttering about. Actually, he had completely lost any semblance of dignity.
Seeing him try to act tough, Bai Zhi couldn’t really stop him, could she?
So, she followed him as they took a narrow path, twisting and turning, and though the surrounding trees were tall and seemed unchanging, Bai Zhi knew they had moved from the small path to another mountaintop. Finally, Moh Li stopped and began searching through his bag.
He directly took out a light yellow scarf, which looked of good quality.
“I’m going to blindfold you. Just follow me after that; I’ll lead you by holding onto the bamboo.”
