Two months passed in the blink of an eye, the weather turned cold, but the peach blossoms on Qingqiu Mountain remained radiant as ever.

Inside Chen Mu’s cliffside cave mansion, a long wooden table was placed beside the bay window.

The Fire Cloud Gourd standing on one end of the table spat out blue flames, forming a small fire cloud midair. Thin, snow-white slices of Exotic Beast Meat nestled within the flames, emitting a sizzling sound as oil seeped out, curling up slowly. The entire cave was instantly filled with a tantalizing aroma.

Chen Mu picked up a piece and placed it in his mouth. The fresh, savory flavor exploded, prompting him to squint in delight.

“Indeed, meat from the mutated demon beasts of the Mist Forest carries a unique taste.”

The snow-white Exotic Beast Meat was sourced from the legs of the Hundred-Eyed Spider, a creature unique to the Mist Forest. He had specially purchased five pounds of it from the Administrative Affairs Institute, costing him twenty-three pieces of White Jade.

If replaced with Fasting Pills, that expense could have sustained an ordinary Qi Cultivator for two months.

Expensive? Certainly. But…

“I’ve cultivated for so many years; can’t I enjoy myself a little? Haha…”

Shoveling down a bite of the sweet Golden Yuan Valley Rice, Chen Mu wore a satisfied smile.

After a whirlwind feast, all that remained for the Five Ghosts was a table strewn with messy cups and plates.

Holding the Jade Gourd filled with Nourishing Spirit Wine, Chen Mu leisurely walked to the entrance.

He lay back in his glossy rocking chair and watched the fiery-red sunset on the horizon. Reflecting on his gains over the past two months, his face broke into another uncontrollable grin.

Two hundred and three!

Through two months of hard work, the number of Peach Gods in his possession had reached a whopping two hundred and three!

“With them shielding against calamities, why should I fear the contract’s backlash?”

Ever since he used the Spiritual Treasure Pivot Scripture to tamper with the Ninety-nine Inheriting Heaven Dharma Prohibition, the seals buried beneath the Hundred Illusion Sect had completely opened their doors to Chen Mu.

He had consecutively discovered seven sealing caves, locating dozens of Exotic Peach Trees with Moli Silver.

With materials gathered, the number of Peach Gods skyrocketed. Meanwhile, his proficiency in the Nine-Life Tribulation Splitting Technique also advanced at incredible speed.

With a thought, a gray wall surfaced in Chen Mu’s vision.

Nine-Life Tribulation Splitting Technique: 7643/10000;

“Even if I were to face Five Thunders Bombarding directly now, I…”

“Hmm, okay, maybe still not quite there.”

“Haha, getting ahead of myself—going overboard, aren’t I?” Chen Mu chuckled lightheartedly, entirely unconcerned.

“It’s not like I’m planning on rebelling against the Thousand Mechanisms Sect; there’s really no need to worry about their Five Thunders Bombarding.”

Taking another sip of Nourishing Spirit Wine, Chen Mu felt invigorated, his body utterly at ease.

“It’s a pity, though, that the demons inside Gourd Cave Heaven are either stupid or mad. I can’t even trick them into releasing a trace of their Primordial Qi.”

“Unlike that sucker, Nine-head.”

“Looks like I’ll have to delve deeper to investigate.”

“The Heavenly Demon Armor has been stuck at a Seventh Rank peak for such a long time.”

Under the sunset, Chen Mu rocked gently in his chair, sipping Nourishing Spirit Wine while muttering and mumbling to himself.

Late at night, deep beneath the Hundred Illusion Sect.

With a soft “pop,” Chen Mu slipped familiarly into the cave.

Using the Truthful Listening Technique to scan, he confirmed there was no usable Moli Silver left in the Peach Forest. Striding toward the cave’s center, he pressed his hand against a stone gourd.

With the Spiritual Treasure Pivot Scripture active, his figure vanished in the blink of an eye. Moments later, he found himself in a brand-new cave.

Same familiar stone gourd. Same familiar Peach Forest. Soon, Chen Mu located nine brand-new Exotic Peach Trees.

“Layer upon layer of interlocking chambers—identical yet distinct. The Inheriting Heaven Law Prohibition seals are truly marvelous.”

He had previously studied the caves, confirming that every sealed cave was identical, down to the precise positions of the peach trees.

The only apparent differences were the locations and quantities of Moli Silver Peach Trees and the variations in the types of demons sealed within Gourd Cave Heaven. This allowed him to quickly differentiate them.

With a flicker of thought, Chen Mu activated the Truth Listening Divine Power, finding the familiar crack on the stone gourd.

On instinct, he tensed his muscles, expecting to hear the piercing screams of madness. Yet after waiting awhile, his ears remained eerily silent.

“No Outer Heaven Demon within this layer of the seal?” Chen Mu raised an eyebrow.

“Was it never here to begin with?”

“Or perhaps, over time, it was already killed by the Inheriting Heaven Law Prohibition?”

Having entered nine layers of sealing caves, this was his first encounter with such an anomaly.

Fortunately, he had prepared for scenarios like this and wasn’t overly shocked.

The Thousand Mechanisms Sect’s ultimate aim in establishing the Inheriting Heaven Law Prohibition was to suppress and eliminate demons. The current situation was entirely logical.

After pondering briefly, Chen Mu turned to the Peach Forest to gather Peach Wood Cores.

The peach blossoms radiated a warm, golden glow, illuminating the cave in soft brilliance.

All around, silence reigned, interrupted only occasionally by the sound of Chen Mu’s footsteps.

Time slipped quietly away.

At some point, Chen Mu lifted his head, halting his Peach God crafting.

With his fingers pinching specific positions, the Nine Cups Algorithm activated.

“It’s time to check in at the Grinding Stone Workshop.”

Chen Mu stored away the freshly made Peach Gods. Observing the external time simulated in his mind, he couldn’t help but laugh and shake his head.

“The Nine Cups Algorithm actually has its reliable moments.”

He had grasped this secret technique for several years. In the past, its accuracy in predicting fortune had been minimal, barely sufficient for forecasting weather. But lately, he’d realized it was rather effective for gauging daylight duration and external hours.

“Weather report, world clock?”

“Tsk!”

Preparing to leave the underground cave, Chen Mu’s thoughts shifted. He returned to the vicinity of the stone gourd, using the Truthful Listening Technique to peer into its crack once more.

“Previously, I only thought the demon’s screams were irritating, but now, with this eerie silence, it truly gives me the creeps.”

Sneering at himself, he was about to withdraw when his peripheral vision caught sight of the gourd’s surface—and his heart suddenly skipped.

“Why does this crack… seem just a tiny bit bigger than the one from the upper layer?”

“Could it be that the demon within has already escaped?!”

He had suspected something amiss earlier. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have checked the seal before leaving. He hadn’t expected to truly uncover an issue.

Chen Mu froze on the spot.

Channeling the Truth Listening Divine Power to its fullest extent, he meticulously probed every inch of the underground cave.

After a long search without any abnormalities, he finally felt a sliver of relief.

“The Thousand Mechanisms Sect wouldn’t recklessly seal so many demons underground without thorough planning.”

“The Ninety-nine Inheriting Heaven Dharma Prohibition must have countermeasures in place; it’s impossible for a mere crack to let the demons escape.”

However…

“Nine-head seemed able to release traces of Primordial Qi in an attempted escape; could the demons here possess a similar ability?”

At this thought, the anxiety Chen Mu had just dispelled surged anew.

“No, I have to consult the Three-headed Flood Dragon on this!”

Moments later.

Chen Mu appeared within the cave housing Nine-head.

Without hesitation, he extended the Truthful Listening Divine Power into the gourd seal.

A vast, silent cavern emerged in his mind. The entity once nestled at the bottom—Nine-head—was now conspicuously absent!

Chen Mu’s scalp tightened, his hair nearly standing on end.

Unwilling to give up, he expanded the Truthful Listening Divine Power, quickly finding a peach tree he had previously chopped down to make wooden stakes. Relying on its location, Chen Mu firmly identified this cave as the first layer of Nine-head’s seal.

“The seal’s prohibited laws suppressing demons… have they truly escaped?!”

Pfft!

Somewhere in Prison Valley, the ground erupted with a blast of energy, revealing Chen Mu’s figure.

“Disaster’s struck!”

He had consecutively probed nine sealing layers, finding that every demon supposedly imprisoned—including Nine-head—was altogether gone.

Moreover…

“This Prison Valley mist doesn’t feel right.” Chen Mu stared at the thick fog obstructing his vision, his heart growing heavy.

The mist previously alternated between thick and thin, allowing vague visibility within twenty or so meters. Faces of demon apprentices could be discerned.

Now, the fog had become unreasonably dense, darkening what should have been bright daylight.

No apprentices could be seen mining Demon Qi Stones either!

“Did the entire Hundred Illusion Sect crumble overnight?”

Sweat beaded on Chen Mu’s forehead as he unleashed Truth Listening Divine Power to its widest extent.

Eventually, he spotted a number of Daoist Soldier apprentices rushing along the cliffside stairway in small groups, their expressions confused as they hurried toward Qingqiu Palace.

Meanwhile, Lu Han and Yang Fu were knocking on cave mansion doors, notifying the apprentices to ascend the mountain.

“Good, good, despite a mishap in Prison Valley, it doesn’t seem too dangerous overall.”

Chen Mu exhaled deeply, turning to leave the valley.

But as he lifted his foot, he suddenly noticed a black silhouette standing not far ahead.

“When?!”

Shock ran down Chen Mu’s spine, cold sweat instantly breaking out.

His Truthful Listening Divine Power had been active the entire time. When had that figure appeared in front of him without detection?

Even now, as he vaguely saw the flowing hem of a dark robe edged with golden embroidery, his divine sense revealed nothing whatsoever in that spot!

“Outer Heaven Demon?!”

A surge of overwhelming fear gripped him.

Chen Mu’s heart pounded violently as he froze in place, unable to move.

Every breath felt like an eternity.

A large bead of sweat slid from his hairline, dripping into his left eye. Chen Mu instinctively blinked.

When his eyelid rose again, the apparition—its streaming ribbons—had vanished.

“A hallucination?”

“That can’t be!”

Chen Mu quickly spun around, surveying his surroundings, only to find nothing.

He cautiously approached the spot where the shadow had stood, confirming a faint pair of shallow footprints on the ground.

“Someone was indeed here,” Chen Mu exhaled shakily.

A tangible being was preferable to those ungraspable, enigmatic apparitions.

But midway through the exhalation, he stiffened once more.

The ground in Prison Valley wasn’t soft soil; it was hard Demon Qi Stone resembling steel.

The figure had barely stood for a few seconds yet left distinct footprints?

This…

“Could I really have come face-to-face with some demonic ghost?”

The quiet that enveloped Prison Valley added to Chen Mu’s creeping dread as he scanned his surroundings again, feeling a chill rise within him.
