Just as Julian was about to slip fully into the moment, a voice shattered the heat like cracking glass.
“Your Grace…”
A knight stepped into the balcony hallway, his eyes fixed on the floor, head bowed low.
Julian froze, his aura flaring in frustration. His jaw clenched, and his grip on Eliz’s hip tightened before releasing. Slowly, he turned to the intruder, his face twitching in fury.
The knight didn’t dare look up.
Eliz stumbled forward with a gasp, quickly adjusting her dress. Her hands trembled as she tried to compose herself, her heart thundering wildly in her chest. Embarrassed didn’t even begin to describe it—she felt exposed, caught in the act, her lips still parted from a whisper that hadn’t finished.
“I—I’m sorry, my lord…” She mumbled, backing away, unable to meet anyone’s gaze.
Julian didn’t say a word at first—just stared at the knight like he might rip his tongue out for interrupting.
“What is it?” he finally asked.
“Y-Your Grace…” the knight stammered, voice thin and unsure under Julian’s icy stare. “Marquis Ravenswood… He has called for you.”
Julian’s brows twitched at the name, his anger cooling—but not entirely gone. His eyes slid away from the knight and back to Eliz, who stood stiff and flushed.
“Marquis Ravenswood, huh…” he muttered. “Of course he would pick this damn moment.”
He rolled his shoulders and stepped away from Eliz. Without turning to face the knight directly, Julian added, “Tell him I’ll be there shortly.”
“Yes, Your Grace,” the knight bowed deeply before retreating, clearly relieved to escape intact.
As soon as the footsteps faded, Julian glanced back at Eliz. “Looks like we’ll have to pause this moment, Eliz.”
Eliz nodded, still avoiding his gaze. “Yes, my lord…”
Julian reached out, brushing his fingers gently along her chin, lifting her face to meet his. Her eyes met his—nervous, flustered, but unmistakably full of longing.
Julian smirked. “We’ll pick up where we left off.”
Eliz bit her lip, and a shiver ran through her at his words. She gave the slightest nod.
Julian stepped back. “Get some rest. And next time… lock the damn door.”
Without waiting for a reply, he turned and walked away, making his way for the door. “Let’s see what this Marquis is up to now,” he muttered under his breath, a flicker of curiosity clouding his face.
He exited the room and entered the massive hall. Servants standing in the corners straightened at the sight of him, bowing respectfully without a word.
Julian barely spared them a glance as he made his way down the staircase and toward the chamber where he and the Marquis had struck their secret alliance. The heavy double doors stood slightly open, as if waiting for his return.
Pushing them open, Julian stepped inside and immediately spotted the Marquis sitting alone on one of the chairs by the circular table.
“Your Grace, you are here,” the Marquis said, immediately rising to his feet the moment he spotted Julian.
Julian remained silent for a beat, his eyes narrowing slightly as he studied the man, then finally replied, “I hope this is worth my time, Marquis.”
“Oh, Your Grace, don’t worry—it will surely be worth your time,” the Marquis said with a knowing smile.
Julian raised a brow but said nothing. He watched carefully as the man moved to one side of the chamber. The marquis lifted his right hand, and red mana swirled at his fingertips like smoke before it ignited into a small fire. He pressed his palm against the stone wall, and a low hum filled the room.
Runes, previously invisible, flickered into existence.
A second later, the entire wall shimmered… and faded. Not crumbled, not shifted—just vanished like an illusion being dismissed.
In its place stood a shiny, silver-colored door.
“Come, Your Grace,” the Marquis said, gesturing with a flick of his wrist. His smile hadn’t left his face.
Julian’s smirk deepened, anticipation boiling steadily in his chest. This… this is getting interesting. Without a word, he stepped forward, the thrill of the unknown making his heart beat just a touch faster.
The silver door opened with a low, creaking noise, revealing only darkness beyond. As Julian stepped through, lights automatically flickered into existence, their soft glow illuminating a narrow staircase spiraling downward.
The Marquis began descending, his smile unwavering as he glanced back at Julian. “This way, Your Grace.”
Julian followed, curiosity thrumming in his chest as the air grew cooler.
Midway through the staircase, Julian’s ears caught the faint sounds—moans, cries, and gasps, a tangled sound of male and female voices echoing from below. As they reached the bottom, the staircase opened into an absolutely massive hall, its sheer scale surprising even Julian.
Countless beds were spread across the expanse, each one occupied by naked men and women, their bodies entwined in wild, animalistic sex. Bottles of booze and alcohol littered the floor, glinting under the flickering torchlight.
“Umhm…” The Marquis coughed, drawing everyone’s attention. The hall fell silent in an instant, the tangled bodies freezing mid-act, their heads turning toward him and Julian.
As one, they bowed low, their naked forms glistening with sweat and seed.
Julian’s eyes swept the hall, a mix of amusement and intrigue flickering across his face. “Well, Marquis,” he murmured, “this is… quite the celebration.”
The Marquis laughed proudly, the sound echoing through the massive hall. “Your Grace, this is my Chamber of Lust,” he declared, spreading his arms and gesturing to the scene.
“For men like us, everything in the world is practically useless. Money? Power? Authority, estates, land? They pleasure us only for a time, fleeting and hollow. But you know what kind of pleasure is permanent—the fire that never fades?”
Julian’s smile widened as he leaned slightly forward. “Lust,” he answered, meeting the Marquis’s gaze head-on.
The marquis laughed loudly, clapping his hands in approval. “Yes, Your Grace! Lust is the only thing that makes men like us move!”
“And here, we do just that,” the Marquis continued, his voice rich with pride.
