Chapter 757, Why Isn’t He Dead Yet?

During the fierce battle, many figures rose and fell in the sky as lights of different colours coming from the Spiritual Powers intertwined with each other.
Apart from the small number of Ninth-Order Cloud River Realm Masters, the rest of the cultivators of Thousand Demon Ridge were no match for Lu Ye.
The Seventh-Order and Eighth-Order Masters would be injured or even slaughtered once he found a chance to attack. Even the Ninth-Order Masters found it hard to bear the violent attacks, and they all looked battered now.
The number of cultivators on the Thousand Demon Ridge’s side continued to decrease.
On the other hand, even though Lu Ye looked wounded at first glance, his aura continued to rise as though there was no end to it.
The cultivators were heard yelling to boost each other’s morale. Still, they couldn’t escape from the fate that they were butchered one by one.
All of them were terrified, and a doubt formed in their minds.
Why wasn’t Lu Ye dead yet? What right did he have to survive?
Ever since the battle started, they had inflicted over 100 wounds on his body. Under normal circumstances, he should’ve lost the ability to fight, but instead, he had become even more savage.
After another exchange of moves, Lu Ye hovered in mid-air. Once again, the cultivators surrounded him from all directions.
He didn’t make a move, and these cultivators didn’t act rashly. They vigilantly activated their powers, and the atmosphere was hostile.
Lu Ye swept a glance over their faces and wielded his Inviolable Saber. Then, he grabbed his worn-out top and pulled it away.
The shredded and blood-soaked top was gone, revealing his lean and toned upper body, which had been dyed red with blood. Under the dazzling Sunlight, it looked like he had put on red armour.
The cultivators of Thousand Demon Ridge were paralysed with fear when they saw that, finally realising why Lu Ye wouldn’t die.
That was because they could see that no blood streamed out from any of his wounds, and some of them even showed signs of healing.
His restorative power and the robustness of his body were inconceivable.
Before this, they believed that Lu Ye must be on his last legs after suffering so many injuries. It wasn’t until they saw his wounds that they found out it had been their wishful thinking.
They could sense that Lu Ye’s vitality was burning like fire. It was so strong that they were frightened.
His ample vitality could certainly strengthen his body and allow him to have an incredible restorative power.
Before the trip to Soaring Dragon Boundary, Lu Ye’s body was already comparable to that of a Body-tempering Cultivator in the same Realm. When he was in Soaring Dragon Boundary, he acquired the last bit of its World’s Source, which pulled him back from death’s door and filled him with immense vitality.
That was the reason why when he dashed out of Soaring Dragon Boundary, Hua Ci felt that his vitality was even comparable to that of Shui Yuan.
His immense vitality didn’t only give him an amazing restorative power, but it also tempered his body. Certainly, his body wasn’t as sturdy as that of a Divine Ocean Realm Master, but it would be hard for any Cloud River Realm Master to cause him any serious injuries.
That was the reason he had the confidence to deal with over 200 enemies on his own.
The cultivators of Thousand Demon Ridge thought that Lu Ye was drained of all energy, but to him, he had only suffered some flesh wounds. It was just that he looked battered.
Even the flesh wounds were healing quickly since his vitality was tremendous.
Xia Liang was right to think that after the trip to Soaring Dragon Boundary, Lu Ye had transformed into an entirely different person.
When the cultivators finally saw what was going on with Lu Ye’s wounds, they felt that their hope had been crushed, and it was replaced with coldness.
They had been holding on and many of them had lost their lives, but in the end, they had only inflicted some flesh wounds on him.
That was laughable and pathetic!
Emotions such as fury, displeasure, and grievances surged in their hearts, but at the same time, they no longer had the fighting spirit to go against Lu Ye.
An enemy like him couldn’t be destroyed by Cloud River Realm Masters. He was no different from a monster!
There was never a lack of brave cultivators. Previously, even though many of them were injured or killed, they were determined to go against Lu Ye. But when they came to their senses and realised that they couldn’t defeat the enemy, they made the right choice.
“Run!” a cultivator bellowed and turned into a ray of light before running for his life.
If they still attacked Lu Ye despite knowing that they were no match for him, they would be stupid, not brave.
There were countless bright cultivators in the world, and no one could say they were peerless. If one couldn’t defeat the enemy, he just had to run, and there was nothing embarrassing about it. Saving his own life was of utmost importance.
Since the first person took action, the others followed suit. In an instant, more than ten people around Lu Ye retreated.
The next moment, even more people chose to run away, and a gap appeared in the siege.
They had to be united to besiege their enemy. Once the unity was gone, the siege was no longer sustainable. More people started running for their lives.
Lu Ye frowned at that. He didn’t expect this kind of reaction when he had only taken off his top.
Since his top had been shredded during the battle, it would affect his movements if he chose to keep it on his body. Therefore, taking it off would be a better option.
Much to his surprise, they started fleeing after he did that. Soon, he understood why they had reacted in such a way.
He didn’t run after those cultivators, for there wasn’t a need to do so. Among these people, there were only four he had to kill. Since two of them were already dead, there were only the other two left.
He turned around and set his gaze upon Tan Sheng.
As their eyes met, Lu Ye’s murderous intent surged. Tan Sheng’s heart skipped a bit, and he retreated without hesitation while shouting, “Run!”
He had apparently called out to Xia Liang.
He had been targeted by Lu Ye, and considering the moves the latter had used, he knew he was doomed.
Even if Xia Liang was willing to help him out, they wouldn’t be a match for him. In that case, he’d rather let the other person live. He would try to hold Lu Ye up so that Xia Liang could survive.
Having made up his mind, he cast a blood mist around him and moved backwards as fast as he could. However, Lu Ye had only gently flapped his wings, and he was able to fly faster than Tan Sheng.
The gap between them quickly shortened.
At that instant, Tan Sheng knew he couldn’t flee. While he was crestfallen, he was unusually calm in this life-and-death moment. He madly activated his Spiritual Power and burned his vitality to increase his speed in an attempt to hold up Lu Ye for a longer time.
In just several breaths of time, they were only 30 metres apart.
Tan Sheng suddenly stopped in his tracks, and in a way that was hard to understand, he flared up from a state of stillness and charged towards Lu Ye while sticking out his spear.
Time seemed to have stopped flowing. A myriad of insights dawned upon him as the attack he had infused all his energy into far exceeded his limits.
The horrifying life-and-death moment also brought with it a great opportunity.
Determined to go to Hell with the other party, Tan Sheng suddenly figured out the secrets of the Holy Dragon Spear, which was a Secret Technique passed on to him by his Master.
It seemed that he had cultivated it wrong the entire time.
Lu Ye realised the transformation Tan Sheng had gone through. Faced with the spear, he was suddenly engulfed in a sense of danger.
In a dazed state, he saw that the spear looked more like a Dragon that zigzagged towards him. The Dragon opened its mouth wide, ready to devour him.
Spear Intent!
Tan Sheng had undoubtedly reached the level of Intent. If he managed to survive this time, his power would increase significantly, which would make him one of the strongest cultivators among the Cloud River Realm Masters.
Tan Sheng and Xia Liang had spent most of their time together as of late, and both of them were in the Ninth Order. Comparatively, Xia Liang was a bigger threat while Tan Sheng was slightly weaker.
Now, it seemed that one shouldn’t underestimate anybody. The weaker cultivator might surpass the stronger one when an insight dawned upon him.
Faced with the violent attack, Lu Ye quickly lifted his saber and pushed it forward.
Tan Sheng was still engrossed in his insights as he fully focused on this attack. All of a sudden, the view around him shifted.
Even though it was daytime, he seemed to be seeing a sky full of twinkling Stars, and soon enough, those Stars descended from above like rain.
The falling Stars drowned the Dragon, which growled and struggled, but its attempt was futile.
Then, the view came apart as if it was merely an illusion.
While in mid-air, Tan Sheng held his spear and panted heavily. Lu Ye hovered in the air across from him.
Tan Sheng lowered his gaze and saw that his spear didn’t stick out from the other side of Lu Ye; it had only slightly penetrated his figure.
There was no doubt Lu Ye’s physique was unimaginably sturdy.
“What Blade Technique is this?” Tan Sheng asked.
“Starburst,” Lu Ye replied and pulled the spear out of his figure, which brought out some blood. Soon, the flesh around his wound squirmed, and he stopped bleeding.
“This move is just as incredible as its name.” Tan Sheng complimented the man, then said bitterly, “It’s not that my Holy Dragon Spear is weaker than your Starburst; it’s just that I haven’t fully mastered it yet!”
As soon as he finished speaking, his head slumped to the side. Once his aura dissipated, his body was like a bladder with countless holes as his blood splattered and dropped to the ground.
Tan Sheng was dead!
Even before his death, he still seriously defended the reputation of his Sect’s Secret Technique.
Lu Ye could understand him. Since the two of them were on opposing sides, and the other party had repeatedly found fault with him, he naturally wouldn’t hold back his power.
