"That is all I can tell you about him. Just remember that you should never offend that person. Also, never tell anyone about the things I told you, or you will die."

The man warned everyone who was a part of his group, especially Karyk who had recently joined. He had decided to take the young man under his wings as the man appeared to be from a wealthy clan. He was also quite skilled.

Karyk wanted to gain more information from the man, but it became clear that this was all he knew. Even the information he had given was not confirmed. Most of it was simply based on his assumption.

The only way to confirm that information was through the target itself.

"Where are we supposed to meet him?" he asked, realizing that it would be troublesome if the meeting place was the city that had been left in ruins.

"We meet him every other week at the edge of the Inner Region. There, we are supposed to give the crystal and return to gather more."

To Karyk's comfort, the city wasn't the destination. Instead, it was the border of the inner and outer zone.

He didn't ask any more questions and followed the group which led him towards the meeting place.

Along the way, they asked him a lot of questions about his clan. They had seen the descendants of quite a few clans in this world, but Karyk felt inherently different.

He looked like a weak human but he was strong, and could use various abilities like telekinesis. It was a decent ability, especially for the kind of work they did.

"You don't want to answer? Are you part of some hidden clan?" the girl asked.

When Karyk didn't answer their questions, only silently following them, they started getting even more curious about his identity.

"If you understand, then please don't ask."

There was absolute silence after Karyk's sharp response to the girl. Even the leader of the group was a little taken aback.

Karyk had been quite friendly previously, so this sharp and cold response was unexpected. Then again, he understood that most people who ended up in this place hated their clans for selecting them.

"Don't ask him about the clan that abandoned him here. If it was my first day, I wouldn't want to talk about them either." The leader of the group came to Karyk's defence, trying to justify his words.

"Hmph." The girl glared at Karyk before turning her head away. "Just because he killed one in our group, he thinks he is some bigshot. It's arrogant people like him that are the first to die in this world."

"Clara!" The leader of the group raised his voice.

"Fine! I won't argue with him." The girl rolled her eyes, appearing to be wronged. Just because of a new member, she was being scolded.

If it was any normal day, she might have argued back. However, they were going to meet that man. She didn't want to do anything wrong on such an important day.

The ground walked for hours, that stretched to days.

Along the way, they hunted even more beasts that came across their way. After the group killed hundreds of beasts, it was Karyk's responsibility to take out the crystals and store them.

"Because of your abilities, our work became so much easier."

Karyk also received multiple compliments from the group for his help in retrieving the crystals. The only person who didn't compliment him was the girl, still sulking about his coldness.

Karyk also didn't mingle with them much. He was simply thinking about the time he was going to meet the man in question.

If it was up to him, he would have flown all of them straight to the destination. However, he controlled his urges.

After a few more days passed, the ground finally reached the threshold of the outer region. "Beyond this point is the inner region, the true hell of this place. That's where true Aetherians roam. They are the hunters of this land that can't be compared to the beasts we fought."

The group started waiting at the meeting place for the man to arrive. Karyk was also silently watching.

He could feel the gazes of an Aetherian Beasts that was in his group. They had already been detected, but the Aetherian didn't have any intention of attacking them.

It was simply watching since it could feel the presence of Karyk as one of them.

"I will be right back," Karyk told the group as he started walking away. "Nature is calling."

"Come back fast. The meeting is within two hours. If you're not fast, you will miss it," a man of the group called out.

The girl questioned, "Who takes two hours to pee? Did you even have to remind him?"

"I'll be back." Karyk answered before disappearing into the distance.

He blinked straight inside the Inner Region, appearing behind the Aetherian that had been watching them.

"Did you have fun watching us?"

"You are the new Aetherian that I heard so much about. I just felt your presence and came to check," the Aetherian replied, turning around to observe Karyk.

"You don't need to watch. You should leave this place. And for the next three hours, make sure no other Aetherian comes here. I can't afford a distraction which might scare the target."

"The target? Distraction?" The Aetherian didn't understand. He didn't even understand why Karyk was with the outers instead of simply killing them.

Still, he didn't question him. Once Karyk was accepted as one of them, the Aetherians stopped doubting him.

For Aetherians, there was no such thing as betrayal or suspicions between them. If Karyk was asking them for something, it meant he had something that he wanted to achieve.

In the end, the Aetherian turned around and silently left.

Karyk also returned to the group and continued waiting. It was only when two hours passed that he finally sensed another presence that was advancing towards them.
