Chapter 216: Life’s Most Precious Moment
The dummy, Xue Yu, commented on Yun Xiangxiang’s Weibo post.
[Xue Yu V: Goddess Xiang, I can salvage this, probably {😥}]
Fang Nanyuan also joined in the fun not long after.
[Fang Nanyuan V: Clearly I am the savior. When did I become the invader? {😕}]
Fang Nanyuan only joined in because she saw Yun Xiangxiang stuck between the two giants which were Xue Yu and Lu Jin.
He didn’t want Yun Xiangxiang to be stuck between a rock and a hard place, and he was worried someone would cook up nasty stories if they saw this. It was too obvious that Lu Jin and Xue Yu were fighting over a girl.
Those who were in the loop knew they were vying for Yun Xiangxiang’s attention because they couldn’t stand each other. That would not be the case for the media outlets who craved traffic.
With him in the picture, it wouldn’t look like a fight. Yun Xiangxiang treated everyone fairly too. It was just Xue Yu and Lu Jin couldn’t stand being in each other’s presence. Neither of them stirred up a scene when Yun Xiangxiang chatted with him.
They would look more innocuous that way. But now that he saw the picture, Fang Nanyuan thought the angle was problematic. He felt guilty about it.
It was already lively enough with both of them, but Lu Jin had to join in soon after.
[Lu Jin V: It’s not too late to apologize, right? {😊}]
This post attracted a lot of comments from the fans. With Fang Nanyuan in the picture, Lu Jin and Xue Yu’s fans stopped shipping anyone. Instead, they tried to look for clues.
They were all curious about what Yun Xiangxiang said to them. It was ridiculous of them to assume they know the whole story from mere pictures and conjectures.
#ThreeHandsomeMenandOneGoddess# was ranking last in trending on Weibo. But thanks to this post, it started to climb the ranks.
The top hashtag in trending on Weibo was still Yun Xiangxiang’s #DoubleBestActress#.
She was only eighteen this year after all. The youngest best actress in the industry was an eleven-year-old girl. Of course, there were best actresses in their late teens, but they were rare. And it had already been a few years since the last one. That made Yun Xiangxiang stand out.
“What news made my girlfriend smile like that?” Song Mian stopped and turned around to look at Yun Xiangxiang who was pursing her lips and laughing quietly.
It’s better if I don’t let Song Mian see this. Yun Xiangxiang tucked away her smile. “Just looking at some emojis.”
They were emojis. Emojis made by netizens shipping her with Lu Jin, Xue Yu, and Fang Nanyuan altogether that is.
“My girlfriend. Your boyfriend will be going to a faraway place tomorrow,” Song Mian thought it was necessary to remind Yun Xiangxiang.
Yun Xiangxiang put her phone away and pretended to be puzzled, “So?”
“So, shouldn’t you accompany me more?” Song Mian arched his eyebrows.
Yun Xiangxiang hopped off the car and placed her hands on his shoulder, “My boyfriend, how do you want me to accompany you?”
“Can I ask for anything?” Song Mian wrapped his hand around her slender waist.
“Anything,” Yun Xiangxiang gave a meaningful smile.
Song Mian gazed at her silently. He hugged her out of the blue and spun before turning to the other side. Closing the door behind him, he locked the car before holding Yun Xiangxiang’s hand and left the parking lot.
Yun Xiangxiang only noticed it was a completely unfamiliar place when she exited. As her parents took the morning flight, it was still dawn now. All around them were flat concrete roads. The trees flanking the roads were lush and colorful.
“What is this place?” Yun Xiangxiang thought this place was gorgeous. There was even a retro-style pavilion. It was soothing to the eyes.
“It’s a resort,” Song Mian held her hands. “Their private hot springs are decent. Come down for an onsen bath later.”
“Later? Where are we going now then?” Yun Xiangxiang started anticipating.
“To gaze at life’s most precious thing,” turning his head aside, Song Mian smiled at her.
Beneath the sprinkling sunlight and the caressing breeze, his smile was mesmerizingly attractive, even more so than the light of dawn.
The trembling branches behind him and the clear skies dotted with white clouds added to his already scenic looks.
Yun Xiangxiang let him drag her around. Two bicycles were already waiting for them. Song Mian rode on one.
When he saw Yun Xiangxiang also hopping onto one, he rode in front, “Catch up with me.”
It was a private resort, especially the spot around the mountain top. It was a quiet place, and would only see many well-off families bringing their children here during the holidays.
It wasn’t a wide path, only enough for a two-way street. The track near the mountain was for cyclers. They followed the path up the mountain.
Before long, branches blossoming with peach blossoms appeared. It was their season this time in the year. Blossoming in clusters, they were a beautiful sight to behold.
As the breeze danced among the peach blossoms, it brought their faint fragrance with it, as well as their petals as it journeyed on with its dance. They went forward, greeted by the drizzle of blossoms.
Song Mian was a cautious person. He would turn around to look at Yun Xiangxiang from time to time. Every time he did, Yun Xiangxiang would smile sweetly.
It was a clear day. Within the stretch of the mountain range, there was a little path, and a beautiful smile.
As picturesque as the scene was, it was no match for the lady riding through it.
“I think I should ride behind you,” Song Mian suddenly stopped. “If you keep smiling at me like that, I’ll get in a car crash sooner or later.”
Yun Xiangxiang couldn’t help but smile. Pursing her lips, she pushed her ride and went forward. “I don’t know the directions.”
“Just go straight from here on out,” he had been leading the way before because there were too many forks before this.
Yun Xiangxiang rode in front. As the wind caressed her when she rode, Yun Xiangxiang felt at ease, as if she was flying among the clouds.
She inexplicably felt free and elated.
As he listened to her laughter which resounded from time to time, Song Mian smiled too. She’d been too tired recently. She needed to decompress and let loose of that stuffiness.
Or else she will get sick. Song Mian noticed she had special makeup on today. Just the pair of obvious moles would make anyone deny her of being Yun Xiangxiang at first glance.
But she might not get through the crowd in lively places. Quiet places that had few people like this were most suited for rest and relaxation.
Enjoying the view of flowers, taking in the fresh air, sweating it out before jumping into an onsen were great for the body and mind.
The best thing was that they could get along how they wanted to, just like ordinary people.
There was a small pavilion to took shade under at the top of the mountain. Standing in the pavilion beside the cliff, Yun Xiangxiang caught sight of half of Beijing.
“It must be a grand show of lights if we see it at night,” Yun Xiangxiang enjoyed the breeze as she sat beside the pavilion.
As she imagined the night sky donning a gown of stars with the ivory moon hanging high up there and the dappled lights from the city shining through the pine trees, she thought it would be gorgeous.
“If you want to see it, we can have our dinner early and come back here,” Song Mian took a thermos flask from his backpack and handed it to her.
“Hot water again,” Yun Xiangxiang complained. She was feeling hot and craved for some cold beverage.
“Hot water is good for your body,” Song Mian coaxed her patiently. “This is some medicinal tea I brewed for you.”
Yun Xiangxiang couldn’t help but appreciate his thoughts for her. She drank it per his advice.
