Kyle had just survived an attack on his life and knocked out the attacker with his superior hand-to-hand combat.

He stood over him for a second but wondered why someone would want to take his life—or even try to—as he hadn’t crossed anyone just yet.

Kyle didn’t think too much, but what if this was the person the mysterious individual had warned him about?

That would mean calling the police had the risk of compromising him because it would show he depended on them.

What if this was a test? This wouldn’t be a good look if the police got involved, and Kyle realized he might have to give this person to the mafia to get the necessary information out of.

Kyle sighed, but he felt his heart thumping like crazy—it was a panic attack because the trauma still played a role. Kyle took a deep breath to calm himself because that was the only thing he could do in this situation.

He took out his phone and thought twice about communicating with a literal crime group using his main line. That didn’t look like a smart idea, and this made him realize he needed a second phone, but for now, he could make use of this person’s phone to communicate with them. This content is presented by M4VLEMPYR.

Kyle took out his phone and realized this person had the number he wanted to reach saved.

“Hm, that isn’t suspicious at all,” Kyle thought to himself. This was no doubt connected, and Kyle had second thoughts about contacting them with this man’s phone.

Kyle realized this might be another test to see how he reacted, and if that was the case, then there was no doubt that there were eyes on him currently, which would mean they would be aware of the phone in his hand.

“What am I truly scared of? If they wanted me dead, I wouldn’t be standing,” Kyle had to humble himself—there was no way he would escape a well-coordinated hit. If anything, this was too easy to avoid, which meant this must have an ulterior motive.

Kyle took a deep breath and called the number through this strange person’s phone.[[Who the fuck is this?]] a voice asked right away on the other side of the phone. He sounded confused for a second, but Kyle didn’t say a word because this could all be an act.

He had a choice—engage in a conversation or hang up the phone.

“Who the fuck is this!?” the man Kyle met the previous day barked at his phone, but there was no response—there was only one person’s number he didn’t have.

That was Kyle, and this is who he assumed was calling him.

“…Kyle?” the man questioned, but this only complicated the current situation further because it sounded like he knew who was at the other end of the phone, when in reality, it was just an educated guess.

[[How did you know it was me?]] Kyle asked at the other end, prompting the man to raise a brow.

“Was I expecting someone else? Have you gotten all the information you need?” the man asked, and Kyle could pick up on his demeanor. This wasn’t the demeanor of a man that had tried to kill him, but it made Kyle all the more cautious because what if this person was from the mafia?

[[No, but I need you to come to this location and pick up something for me.]] Kyle responded. The man paused, expecting him to give more context, but the phone hung up and a live location was shared. The man sighed. He knew Kyle was a dangerous man—or at least, this was the impression Kyle gave—and had no plans of messing with him.

“What’s wrong, Alfredo?” a man asked him, but Alfredo had no idea what was going on, though he didn’t want to get on the wrong side of Kyle. There was no way he wasn’t going to listen to him.

The truth was, he had no idea an attempt had been made on Kyle’s life, so who hired the hit?Alfredo drove to the location without hesitation, and to his utmost surprise, he saw a phone placed on the unconscious man’s body.

“What the hell?” the man muttered under his breath as he closed in on the unconscious body, but what he felt next was the familiar cold steel he had grown accustomed to.It was a gun, and Kyle stepped out of the shadow.

“What is this—some kind of joke?” Afredo questioned, but the confusion on his face was genuine.

Kyle had no intention of pulling the trigger, and in all honesty, the thought of taking another life made him uneasy. But the characters he could adopt made his act convincing.

Kyle lowered his gun because he confirmed what he wanted to confirm.

“Take him away and question him. That man just tried to take my life,” Kyle informed Alfredo before handing him the gun.

Kyle didn’t care what happened to anyone that attempted to harm him. He had something to not only live for but a future to strive towards.

He could save humanity from themselves, and a hero complex was slowly developing at the back of his mind.

The single act of Nate helping the needy without any ulterior motive was the turning point.

“What do you mean?” Alfredo asked, but he got no response.

“Take care of my problem? I’m yet to encounter a problem I can’t handle,” Cleopatra responded. This man held an office, yet the way she spoke was a clear indication of the difference in their social standing.

The man kept quiet, but Cleopatra soon got a notification on her phone.

“I think you might want to check that,” the man muttered, to which Cleopatra complied. She took a peek at her phone but looked genuinely uninterested.

“What is the meaning of this?” Cleopatra questioned.

“My gift to you,” the man responded with a satisfied smile.

He had bought her a private island that required clearance. Cleopatra had attempted to buy it in the past but failed.

However, this man made it happen, showing he had the influence despite Cleopatra being blessed with the wealth.
