Jane didn’t know what to do with Jasmine because she had never taken care of a child before, but Jasmine was looking after herself.

However, Jane knew that this kid must have been through something traumatic—it wasn’t hard to tell with a single look after all.

Those were not the eyes a child should have, but Jane also knew a child was fragile. She couldn’t trigger her fight-or-flight response.

This was why she treated Jasmine as she would any other child, but Jasmine wasn’t responding like a normal child would.

“I want to see brother,” Jasmine muttered, pouting as she wasn’t responding to Jane or her instructions.

This was the first glimpse of Jasmine as a child, as she wouldn’t always be agreeable, but Jane knew it was important to remain calm.

She couldn’t show Jasmine she was getting to her either, and this was why raising a kid wasn’t for the weak.

It rewired your brain and everything you thought you knew—they would show you it is a lot easier to apply it in theory rather than reality.

“Your brother? You mean Kyle?” Jane questioned. She was in the dark here and knew nothing of the current situation.

However, she trusted Kyle enough to follow his lead without asking questions.

“Kyle is not my brother… My brother is being fixed in the hospital,” Jasmine responded like she was talking about a doll.

“Fixed?” Jane thought to herself. It took her a second to realize what the kid was talking about.

“Oh! You mean your brother is in the hospital. Do you know the name?” Jane asked but was met with silence.

“I-I don’t,” Jasmine pouted. She looked sad, and Jane realized she was just missing her brother—but more so, she understood why she was living with Kyle, to begin with.

The man was in the hospital, but he was awake despite the concussion he suffered.

He was confused, but who could blame him? There was no way someone like him would end up here if he wasn’t brought here.

The problem was that he had no recollection of the events that ultimately concluded in this.

He studied the room for a brief moment, but the light was too bright—he still had residue of the drugs in his system.

“W-WHERE AM I!?” he screamed at the top of his lungs, not caring who he disturbed or made uncomfortable.

One would think his sister would have been the first thing on his mind, but Jasmine didn’t cross his mind—at least not yet.

“I see, you’re awake,” a voice said from the corner of the room, seated in his blind spot.

a spot he missed when he was sweeping the room with his eyes.

It was that of a lady, but it wasn’t anyone he recognized. The man almost jolted from his bed as he looked over his shoulder and saw a police officer seated there.

“What the fuck do you want!?” the man barked, and that alone told Priscilla about his relationship with cops, but she didn’t care.

“I’m just here to ask you some questions…” Priscilla wasn’t one to be triggered by words and addressed him as she would anyone else.

This helped her, as her emotions remained neutral during these interactions.

However, the man realized his sister was nowhere to be found, and this made him go into a manic episode.

He began thrashing around, ripping the IVs right from his veins, but Priscilla just looked at him, unbothered.

“I would advise against that…” This was all she said, but the man wasn’t going to listen to her because his brain registered her as a threat.

He knew he was a junkie and understood he had illegal drugs running through his veins.

The police must have been called by the hospital to arrest him and take him away from his sister.

This was something he couldn’t afford because in the end, she was his sister, and he knew what would happen if she was left alone.

“W-WHERE IS MY SISTER!?” he shouted, but Priscilla didn’t respond and just stared.

The man charged at her, and in the blink of an eye, he was pinned to the ground with his arms bent awkwardly, putting him in pain.

He tried to struggle, but that only caused more pain, and Priscilla took a deep breath.

“You need to calm down.” This was all she said, but this was a glimpse of her fighting process.

At that moment, Oliver walked into the room with two cups of coffee, but the moment he assessed the situation,

he went into panic mode as the coffee slipped through his fingers. With this, his gun left its holster because he had no idea what was going on, but he also knew Priscilla must be justified in whatever it was she was doing.

And without a second thought, he looked to secure the room, making sure they were the only ones in it.

“What is going on!?” Oliver asked, but Priscilla wondered why men were so over the top. Why was he reacting this way when she had it under control?

“He attacked me,” Priscilla said. The man stopped resisting upon realizing there was no escape from this situation.

Priscilla was small, so he assumed she was weak and easy to overwhelm, but this outcome told him otherwise.

“A-Attacked you? Why?” Oliver asked as he put his weapon away. Priscilla got up with the man.

However, his hand was still held in place by her, but she hadn’t restrained him.

“I’m not here for you,” Priscilla told the man, trying her best to articulate her thoughts in a way that wouldn’t set him off.

But before she could reveal why she was there, the nurses rushed in to see what the commotion was about.

The truth was, Priscilla knew there was a lot more to this story, but what was most important was why Kyle found himself in this situation.

There was no way this was a beating that wasn’t personal, considering the state of his face—so what made Kyle snap to inflict this much damage?

Oliver could tell Priscilla was in one of her moods and understood right away she must have had a hunch.

Kyle had learned what he needed to from this man and understood right away the power of AI.

The man was shocked by how quickly Kyle understood it—he only had to explain it once.

It was either Kyle was a genius, or he had no idea what he was talking about.

Either way, he didn’t care because Kyle had paid him for this quick summary.

“Interesting… and you can make any scenario you wish to make?” Kyle questioned, to which the man nodded.

Kyle couldn’t believe he hadn’t paid closer attention before, but what was the point, considering he was on the verge of ending it all?

He didn’t care enough to fight it because he was sane enough to know none of that happened, and money was what the world listened to.

No one cared if you were innocent because you needed money to prove that innocence.

“That is correct,” the man responded. He had made more from Kyle than he had from any of his previous clients.

And the fact that Kyle wanted to learn how it works also gave him a sense of pride—but how could he get more money from this situation?

This world was filled with opportunists, and this man was no different. But Kyle didn’t care because his money was infinite.

“How about a job?” Kyle asked the man. This caught him off guard because this was a literal crime.

And if Kyle somehow worked with him, then there was no way he wouldn’t be associated with him should it come to light what he did.

This was a risk on Kyle’s part because he had everything to lose, but the vision he saw was worth every sacrifice.

Kyle wanted him to train a team that could acquire this skill—not to outsource it, but to use it strictly for Kyle and his agency.

Did Kyle have malicious plans? No, at least not on the surface, because if this went well, it would serve as an avenue.

However, there were others in the market that Kyle could hire.

But this man had corruptible morals, hence he would have no problem getting his hands dirty because he would feel indebted to Kyle either way.

And it would be easy for Kyle to deny any knowledge of his past.

However, this was something he was still contemplating because with the power of AI at his disposal, there was no limit to what he could do with it if he was able to refine the glitch.

There had to be a way to make it indistinguishable, and this was the first cog in the machine to bring that vision to life.

However, he would need the help of Priscilla or Oliver to run a background check to see what comes up.
