Kyle left the area and all he could think of was what had happened at Cassandra’s house.

Kyle didn’t know why he reacted or acted that way towards the baby.

He drove away, but his mind was in disarray. Kyle’s mind was foggy, and he could barely think straight.

Kyle could feel a panic attack sneaking up on him despite being on the wheel, every emotion he had suppressed came rushing to the surface.

“What the hell was that?” Kyle thought to himself, speeding away on the road.

He couldn’t take his foot off the gas pedal; it felt like if he did, his problems would catch up with him.

Kyle’s vision became blurry shortly after, his breathing became heavier and before he knew it, his limbs tensed up.

Kyle hit the brakes suddenly and the car screeched to a halt, nearly crashing into another vehicle but Kyle managed to avoid it at the last second.

“I need some help,” Kyle thought to himself, the fact that he didn’t crash into the car showed his superior skills.

Kyle was breathing heavily and the car he nearly ran into was shouting at him but the voice was drowned out.

Kyle was glad that he managed to escape the accident unharmed but it showed that he had a problem on a much deeper level.

Kyle drove away without engaging or saying a word because he knew that things would escalate if he did engage.

Kyle left the vicinity right away but the panic attack had somewhat subsided, it wasn’t as bad as it previously was but Kyle was feeling the effects.

He finally realized that he needed help and there were trained professionals for these things.

Kyle found himself in a therapist’s office but it wasn’t on the cheap end either.

But this was what he wanted because as open-minded as Kyle was, he didn’t want anyone to know that he was seeing someone or there was a chance that they would treat him differently.

“Do you have an appointment, sir?” The secretary asked but Kyle knew that there was nothing money couldn’t do.

If there wasn’t a slot open then he would simply buy one but Kyle was out of it because he was trembling physically.

The secretary noticed this and looked worried because it looked like this man needed a hospital, not a therapist.

Kyle noticed that there was no one else here so the therapist couldn’t be all that busy.

This was a dying profession and the internet made it more accessible as it no longer required physical presence.

Zoom would do even though it was preferred for them to be there in person because the energy would be different and it would help the therapist read them a lot better.

“Sir, do you need a doctor?” The lady behind the desk but Kyle rolled his eyes in irritation.

“Are you dea-!” Kyle stopped himself from lashing out, opting to take a deep breath instead.

“I’m sorry but I just need to see the therapist, is there any way you could push me up the list?” Kyle asked, his tone softening.

“I cannot, I’m sorry… Unless you made an appointment,” The lady responded.

Kyle knew she was just doing her job and this wasn’t necessarily in her power to begin with.

“How about $50,000?” Kyle asked and the lady’s attention was piqued at that moment.

She was wondering why he was offering that sort of money, to begin with when there were cheaper therapists around.

However, this was a fleeting interest because what happened next surprised Kyle as she turned it down, this not only hinted at her being paid well but she didn’t show any shock at being offered this amount.

“As I said, it is out of my hand, sir,” The lady responded and Kyle accepted his fate.

He had to wait and that was what he intended to do.

He couldn’t let just anyone in his mind, it had to be the best of the best.

Cassandra had tried to call Kyle multiple times but there was no answer at the other end, it went right to voicemail and this had her worried.

She couldn’t afford to lose Kyle, he had become a pivotal part of her life so there was no telling what would happen to her if he removed himself.

However, she knew that she couldn’t afford to make him feel trapped or that too might backfire.

The last thing a man would want to feel is trapped in a relationship with a woman but Cassandra noticed the way he looked at her son.

It was gentle, Kyle wasn’t scared of him, he was scared of himself.

Cassandra knew it was important to give him some space to sort himself out but also wanted him to know that he didn’t have to do it alone because she was there for him whenever he needed.

Something told her that Kyle wasn’t used to having people to rely on so he carried the entire weight on his shoulder.

No one should have to face the world alone, that is no way to live a life and Cassandra found herself wanting to heal parts of Kyle that she didn’t break.

But this would only make it harder for her to let go, Cassandra wasn’t stupid and was aware that all of this could come to an end at any given moment.

It could be when she grows older or stops looking the way she did because beauty fades over time.

Only a few women maintain their beauty in their older years or age ‘gracefully’ as they say.

The reality is old age comes for all and she was already in her thirties, she had a few good years on her before the wrinkles came into play.

Cassandra wasn’t thinking that far ahead because if anything, it was a blessing to have Kyle in her life right now.

The present had to be utilized but why was she developing feelings for him despite knowing all of this?

Cassandra wondered if it was her loneliness getting the best of her but that couldn’t be the case, if it was sex she sought it was easy for her to get that.

She stared at her phone, waiting for a response from Kyle, that was the only thing on her mind right now and who could blame her?

Cassandra’s phone rang but it was from the wrong person, it was from Justin but she had no plans of picking up the phone regardless.

This wasn’t something she had any interest in despite being well aware that this might be important.

She resisted the urge and the call turned into a missed one but a text message came in shortly after.

Cassandra felt nothing for him but this didn’t mean he stopped being the father of her child.

She was aware that she had to remain in contact with him on the off-chance that this case didn’t go as planned.

She read the message and it was Justin asking for her back, this was a shock considering he was the one that pushed for a divorce.

He acted like she made him miserable and it was because of her that he wasn’t happy in the marriage but Cassandra was aware that things were going according to plan.

Cassandra was disgusted by this message and it took everything in her not to rain curses at him.

However, she knew how she reacted to this could be used against her.

Justin had used their kid as a means with the cliche.

“If not for me, then do it for our child,”

Cassandra knew this wasn’t genuine, his lawyer must have told him to phrase it this way because this could act as potential evidence.

Cassandra knew she had to think carefully before replying and this was when she needed Kyle.

She thought about sending her lawyer a message but this seemed a bit too trivial to involve him.

This was why Cassandra did the one thing she knew to do at that moment.

[[It is because of our child, we cannot be together… I’m not angry at you, Justin. I just no longer care. If the system decides you can be in her life then I won’t stop you but that doesn’t mean you get to be in mine.]] Cassandra responded.

This was a good response because it couldn’t be misinterpreted.

She noticed Justin had read it but that was the end of the conversation, he didn’t attempt to send another message.

She was right, all of this was a ploy to get under her skin to make her lash out, even though she wanted to, Cassandra’s feelings for him were no more and that was all thanks to Kyle.

He was now the recipient of those feelings and this meant she could look at things a lot more logically when it came to her ex-husband.

But Cassandra soon heard a knock at the door, she knew who it was without answering.

She had already changed the locks pending the verdict so Justin couldn’t enter the house whenever he pleased.
