Guide to raise my cutie husbands

Chapter 1870 - 1870: Why she was chosen as the crown princess (2)

Prime Minister Zhou continued to wait for the trusted guard to send the signal but even after waiting for the entire night, she didn’t see the signal that was supposed to be sent.

Her heart gradually sank as she realised that she might have been betrayed. Could it be that someone bribed that guard to betray her?

Worried about how the chicken that was about to enter her mouth might have flown away, Prime Minister Zhou immediately sent someone to investigate the matter. In turn, what she found out was that the woman she sent out never left the capital!

Prime Minister Zhou was dumbfounded when she found out that she had been played by a mere guard. She refused to accept that she had been betrayed and thus she went ahead and started investigating the guard.

But that woman seemed to have disappeared from the face of the earth; no matter how Prime Minister Zhou searched for that woman, she just couldn’t find her. What the hell?

Prime Minister Zhou was stunned and at the same time, she was worried because she knew that the matter of her buying the secret technique wouldn’t be hidden for long.

And as if the heavens wanted to prove how right she was, someone from the imperial court came to call her.

“Prime Minister Zhou, hurry. The Empress has called for you.”

Boom!

Something exploded inside Prime Minister Zhou’s head and she stumbled before falling unconscious.

“Someone help! Prime Minister Zhou had fallen unconscious.”

That very night, the entire Zhou family was accused of treason and the date for their execution was set.

Of course this little piece of news did not shake Yu Dong; after all, who asked Prime Minister Zhou to come up with the plan of sending spies in the base camp?

Not to mention it was Prime Minister Zhou who leaked the news of her village to the empress. She was the one who acted like a monster first.

So why would she care about the lives of the Zhou family?

She arrived at the base camp and headed over to the tent where Xien Zhenya was waiting for her. As soon as she stepped inside the tent, she met with the blaming look of Xien Zhenya.

“What’s with that gaze, your highness?”

“Madam Yu,” Xien Zhenya breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Yu Dong was doing alright before she began scolding her, “Can you at least tell me before leaving the base and taking a mission that was supposed to be a job of ten shadow guards?”

Xien Zhenya had no idea how she had survived till now because of Yu Dong; though she had won numerous battles, she had also received a bunch of heart attacks. The woman just disappeared every time a new mission was allotted to the secret guards.

She didn’t even tell her where she was going or what her plan was. Sometimes, Xien Zhenya was worried that this woman would die somewhere and she wouldn’t even know that Yu Dong died because she never told her that she was leaving the base in the first place.

Yu Dong shrugged as she placed the secret technique that she had stolen from the house of the prime minister and remarked, “You worry too, your highness. I will not die so easily.”

Xien Zhenya scoffed. She couldn’t help but feel that Yu Dong treated herself way too carelessly. She actually snuck past the city to the capital and even stole this secret technique while dealing with Zhou Mingyan at the same time.

“You went to steal this on your own?”

“Yes and no. I didn’t steal it; it was just that our late prime minister was scamming some poor fools. So I conveniently scammed her back.”

Although Xien Zhenya was speechless by her righteous tone, she had to admit that she was quite excited as well. This was, after all, the secret technique that she had been chasing after all these years.

If Ruan Xingmian had not been selfish and greedy, she would have helped her strengthen her faction and let her suppress Xien Xieren before that woman caused so much harm to the entire nation.

But Ruan Xingmian was not willing. She wanted to wait and see who would be willing to pay the highest price for this secret technique, which led to the matter being dragged till now. So how could she not be excited?

“You have done a good job,” Xien Zhenya praised and as she promised, she took the double-sided embroidery section and handed it to Yu Dong. “Here you can use this section as you want and no one is going to accuse you. And since you acquired this technique on your own, I promise to give you the rights to purchase the blue lily anytime you want.”

Though Yu Dong was not into needing to use such a precious fabric, she thought of her children and husbands and agreed. She might not appreciate it but who knows? Maybe her husbands might appreciate it.

“What do you plan to do now?” Yu Dong asked as she looked at Xien Zhenya.

Was she going to use this technique to win over the royals of the other nations?

“For now,” Xien Zhenya curled her lips and stated, “I will play just a little game that my dear sister played with me.”

The next day, a new rumour started in the city. According to the rumour, the late prime minister actually joined hands together with country X and delivered the secret technique to create blue lily fabric to the empress of country X.

The rumour turned bigger and bigger and it didn’t take long for Xien Xieren to hear it.

Now that her throne was in danger, Xien Xieren was suspicious to begin with, so when she heard this rumour, she could not help but wonder if she had been betrayed by the prime minister as well as the only nation that rose to her support.

She sent an accusatory letter that infuriated the empress of country X and the latter replied with a letter of mockery.

And soon another war started, which put even more pressure on the army as well as the already thinning resources.
