“We cannot get on the wrong side of that mer, what if it disrupts the matches of our young ones?”

He paused and added, “And we just dump her in her village she will certainly twist the truth around. We can at least make use of her unconscious state and tell the things that she had done.”

Only then did Ye Liu recall that Zhou Jiao Jiao had a daddy who worked as a matchmaker and was highly sought after.

“It is not the fault of my daughter,” said Daddy Zhou. He loved his daughter, Zhou Jiao Jiao to the point that he was more or less blind to her flaws. He blinked his eyes and said to the woman, “It’s that woman’s fault. If she had kept a close eye on her husband then nothing like this would have happened. I assure you—this happened because of that mer. It must be him who seduced my daughter.”

As he spoke he marched out of the house while shouting for the villagers to pick up rods, sticks and stones. They were going to deal with the arrogant Big River Village this time no matter what!

How dare they beat his daughter! If people were to find out that Zhou Jiao Jiao was beaten by the wife of a mer she had teased, how would she raise her head in the village?

“Who dared to beat my daughter?!” A voice roared.

Village Head Gu who was resting in her house was dragged out of her bed. She was clearly resting in peace but then she heard that the Zhou Village had come to look for trouble. As the village head, she could not stay in her house, thus with two broken legs— she had no choice but to ask her two daughters to carry her out of the house.

With her arms thrown around the necks of her two daughters, Village Head Gu looked at Daddy Zhou who from every angle looked like he was here to ask for trouble.

“What is the meaning of this?” Despite her funny condition, Village Head Gu tried to act as dignified as possible. “Why are you carrying so many weapons? Are you planning a siege or something?”

Daddy Zhou placed his hands on his hips and glared at Village Head Gu before saying, “I am not here to commence a siege but yes, I am here to fight! Someone hurt my daughter and I am here to ask for an explanation. If you do not give me one —I will not let this matter rest.”
