Master Xiao moved his hand under Kong Li’s bed and then pulled out the jar that was hidden underneath it. It was the same sauce jar that Yu Mai had given to the Kong sisters earlier.
The two sisters were worried that their daddy would find this sauce jar if they kept it in the kitchen so they brought it to their room and hid it under the bed.
Even though Master Xiao had never treated them well, he had at least refrained from looking around and rummaging in their room. Thus they thought that as long as Master Xiao could not see the jar of sauce, it would be safe.
Not once did they think that their daddy would stoop so low that he would actually rummage around in their room like a thief. If they had then those sisters would have somehow managed to save this jar of sauce from being stolen.
Master Xiao untied the cloth on the jar and then took a whiff of the sauce, as soon as he smelled the scent of the sauce his eyes brightened in glee.
The smell was tantalising and really delicious, he then used the small spoon inside the jar ladled a bit of the sauce in his hand and tasted it.
“Amazing!” Master Xiao, who was a chef, couldn’t help but praise the sauce as it was really delicious. It was made from shredded meat and yet it did not have the slightest bit of fishy taste.
There was also a subtle sweetness with spice and it tasted so good that he wanted to eat a bit more of this sauce.
However, he closed the lid of the jar and tied it securely. “Those two girls, ah! They are really so unfilial, just because I took a few catties of meat to their grandmother’s house, they hid this delicious thing from me.”
“They are really so selfish, such a good thing and they wanted to keep it to themselves without sharing it with their cousins.”
While speaking these shameless words, Master Xiao not once thought of the many candies, fruits and meat that he had brought to his maternal family without letting his daughters have any.
Master Xiao got up from the floor, patted his bottom and then took away the jar of sauce happily. He only cared about the fact that his sister would not have to go back empty-handed as for the reactions of his daughters after they found that the sauce jar went missing—

“Brother, why did you take so long to come out?” Xiao Huangying questioned with a pout which she thought looked cute. “There were so many mosquitoes, I nearly thought that I was going to get bitten to death by them.”
“Isn’t it because I was looking for something really good?” Master Xiao questioned with a light chuckle, even though Xiao Huangying looked anything but cute, for Master Xiao his sister was the cutest.
And he liked it when she pretended to be a child with him. “Here take this, this is a really good thing, expensive too. The young master you want to court will definitely like this.”
Xiao Huangying took the jar from Master Xiao and asked, “What is this?”
“This is meat sauce but don’t look down on it, it’s not like the other meat sauce that you have eaten. It’s really delicious and doesn’t have a fishy taste at all, there is also a lot of oil and spices. I believe it must have cost ten to twenty taels to your sister-in-law to bring it.”
“Ten taels?” Xiao Huangying sucked in a breath. She looked down at the sauce jar and gritted her teeth in jealousy. Her sister-in-law had it nice, just because she was born with a silver spoon, she didn’t have to worry about anything.
She could actually spend more than ten taels on a jar of sauce. How wasteful!
