GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

She didn’t have to wait for long. The traveler came 2 minutes after they arrived.

The traveler didn’t sense any malice directed at her. Everything looked fine to her, so she plunged headfirst into battle.

When she sensed the danger, it was too late. The spiderweb in the sky descended on her. There was no way for her to escape.

Spike felt fear then. Her eyes widened in fear and darted about looking for a way out.

When the first thread touched her, she felt numb immediately. The thread had touched her arm, so her arm became numb and difficult to control.

As more and more threads touched her arm, she lost total control of her arm. The same thing happened to her whole body as the web coiled around her and tightened around her body.

Spike became frozen. She was still resisting and trying to break free, but it was useless. In fact, the threads began to invade her body and started controlling her actions.

It will take some time before the threads gain complete control of her body. But freezing it was enough for their plan.

Feya said to the warrior, “Now!”

Even before she gave this instruction, Spike felt death coming for her. She wanted to run and hide. Unfortunately, she couldn’t move at all.

An arrow flashed through her skull and caused it to explode. The arrow went through her head, three more people, and a house at the other side of the battlefield. The house collapsed as if a cannon had struck it.

Feya smiled and said, “Good job.”

The warrior was also smiling.

Feya deactivated her divine ability, which caused the webs to disappear. The three of them went over to see the corpse of their prey.

The warrior was happy that he finally killed the traveler. He was happy even though most of the credit for the success of the hunt doesn’t belong to him.

As the person who did the most and was crucial in the success of the hunt, Feya felt proud of herself.

She thought to herself, “Who says fate weavers are weak?”

Many people say fate weavers are weak. Their offensive methods are either weak, slow-acting, or cumbersome to execute.

Her rank 4 divine ability is a clear example of that. If the target doesn’t touch the thread, then the divine ability won’t have any effect on them. If the target touches the threads and breaks them, then the effect of the divine ability will also stop.

So in order for the divine ability to work, the target must have prolonged contact with the threads. Unfortunately, the threads are weak individually. This is why she needs time to make a lot of them and saturate the environment with them.

She needed to do all of these and work together with a rank 3 warrior just so that they could kill a rank 3 traveler. She should be ashamed of herself for being rank 4 and still needing to gang up on a rank 3 godclad, but she wasn’t.

She felt proud of her success. Unfortunately, that pride didn’t last when she saw the state of their victim.

She saw the bleeding injury on the Traveler’s arm and asked the warrior, “Did you know that she was bleeding?”

He nodded in the affirmative.

She slapped her forehead and groaned. Then she asked, “If you knew that she was bleeding, why did we have to go through so much effort to catch her?”

The warrior looked at her in confusion, so she explained, “We could have used the arrow you injured her with to find her or used her blood to curse her. If we had cursed her, we wouldn’t even need to go looking for her in order to kill her.”

The warrior thought about what she said and felt that she made a lot of sense. But he didn’t know this before because he didn’t know what she was capable of.

Now that things had come to this, there were no regrets for him. After all, they had successfully killed the traveler.

So he shrugged at her and left her to her thoughts. He was too busy to engage in hypotheticals with her, as he had soldiers to order and troublesome families of lamp bearers to wipe out.

Feya saw him leave and finally felt ashamed. She couldn’t be proud of her work now that she knew that there was an easier and smarter way to do it.

She shook her head and said, “Maybe this is a sign for me to leave this town. If I continue to hang around and make mistakes like this, I might die soon.”

She has decided to leave Ivory Town and never come back. She has many reasons for making this decision other than the mistake she made tonight.

She has three reasons for making this decision. All three reasons are so important that one of them is enough for her to decide to leave the town.

The first reason is that Bushwick is about to gain complete control of the town and might even advance. As a noble, there is no way Bushwick is going to tolerate those who can threaten him or the rule of his family in the town.

So Bushwick is likely to crack down on every force with a rank 4 godclad in town. He is likely to kill them, force them to surrender and swear fealty to him, or send them out of town. She doesn’t want to be around to be presented with those three options.

The second reason is that she has offended a mysterious being who happens to be strong enough to kill her. She offended that being when she tried to interfere in their affairs with Black Knife.

She doesn’t know who the being is, but she knows that if she meets them in the future, she is likely to lose her life. Seeing as Ivory Town is only so big, it is best that she leave as soon as possible so as not to encounter the dangerous being.
