Global Beast Mastery: Only I Can See the Hints
Chapter 626: Believing He Had SucceededChapter 626: Chapter 626: Believing He Had Succeeded
“Preparation? Now you tell me you need to prepare?!” Aldany asked angrily.
Andrew coldly replied, “We had originally agreed that the operation would take place in three days! Against a level five Beast Master, of course, I need some time to prepare. My companion had other important matters to attend to, so they left. I need a few days to bring another companion to Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis.”
He didn’t mention that his companion had already been killed. If he had, Aldany would have seen through him immediately. Andrew knew full well that Aldany was a major figure in the Serpent Empire, and if he wanted to collaborate with him on equal terms, he had to pretend to be just as powerful.
Aldany’s expression changed back and forth, unsure whether to be angry or to accept it. Andrew’s reasoning made sense. They had indeed agreed to the operation in three days. This was also the time Andrew had discussed with the Desert Goblin Queen.
However, Aldany couldn’t wait that long. He had just learned that the Greenwater Tribe High Priest had gone to meet Zara. He had to strike first, before Zara and Charles were prepared, so that his plan would succeed.
After a moment of silence, Aldany changed his expression to one of ingratiation.
“I believe you actually don’t need to prepare! Your strength is enough to hold off that human! As long as you can keep him occupied and give me enough time to act, that will be enough. I guarantee, if we act today, I can control the entire Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis in less than a day. By then, the entire Serpent Empire will be under my control. Whatever treasures you want, I can provide them to you.”
Aldany’s proposal did tempt Andrew a little.
Moreover, Andrew believed that even if his plan failed, Charles would still assist him. After all, in his mind, he thought Charles’s goal was to acquire treasures from the Serpent Empire, so Charles certainly wouldn’t want him to fail.
After thinking for a moment, Andrew smiled and replied, “As long as you’re confident! If you intend to act now, just tell me where that human Beast Master is, and I’ll go hold him off.”
Aldany was overjoyed.
“Wonderful! Your enemy is in the Great Library. Just keep him occupied there, and leave everything else to me!”
Andrew nodded, then immediately made his way to the Great Library.
Aldany watched Andrew leave, and then immediately gave the command to his subordinates to begin the operation.
“Start the operation immediately! Everyone must complete their task!”
Aldany’s loyal subordinates then sprang into action. A large number of Serpent soldiers moved through Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis, plunging the area into chaos.
The first to react were Zara and the Greenwater Tribe High Priest. The two of them had just left the Great Library and were on their way to the Queen’s palace when a whole squad of Serpent soldiers blocked their path. At the forefront was Akran, one of Aldany’s most trusted subordinates and the second strongest Serpent warrior after General Sost.
“The High Priest has given orders! You two are suspected of betraying the Serpent Empire, and you must come with me!” Akran said, sneering at Zara and the Greenwater Tribe High Priest, his tone firm.
“Preposterous! I am a member of the High Priest’s council! How dare you accuse me of betraying the Empire?” the Greenwater Tribe High Priest retorted angrily.
Akran let out a cold laugh.
“Whether or not you’ve betrayed the Empire is not for you to decide. Aldany the High Priest will make the final judgment!”
“I knew he would eventually choose to betray us!” the Greenwater Tribe High Priest scoffed.
He then turned to the Serpent soldiers behind Akran and shouted, “We have not betrayed the Serpent Empire! The true traitors are Aldany and his followers. Don’t let them deceive you!”
The Greenwater Tribe High Priest’s words had no effect. The Serpent soldiers behind Akran merely looked at him and Zara coldly.
“High Priest, don’t waste your breath. These ordinary Serpent soldiers are all from Aldany’s tribe. They only obey his orders,” Zara said coldly.
Akran’s face twisted into a cruel smile.
“What the Queen’s guard says is indeed very reasonable. In that case, why don’t you two stop resisting here? Even together, you are no match for me!” Akran said, directly threatening Zara and the Greenwater Tribe High Priest.
Zara remained silent, her gaze fixed on Akran. Then, without warning, she struck, launching a surprise attack.
Her sudden strike had little effect. Akran had actually anticipated that a fierce battle would break out.
Seeing this, the Greenwater Tribe High Priest immediately joined the fight, attacking Akran.
Although Akran’s strength surpassed that of both Zara and the Greenwater Tribe High Priest, the coordination between Zara and the High Priest successfully restrained Akran.
The ordinary Serpent soldiers behind Akran were powerless to contribute to the battle. They could only watch the intense confrontation while maintaining control over the surrounding buildings.
At the Regent’s Grand Pyramid, Kent the High Priest was trembling with rage. He looked at Aldany in front of him and angrily asked, “You really betrayed us! It seems that Charles was right; you are the greatest threat to the Serpent Empire!”
In response to Kent’s reproach, Aldany coldly replied, “What good is saying this now? You don’t need to struggle any longer; almost all of the High Priest’s council members are under my control. Charles can’t help you now, because he’s facing an opponent who poses a significant threat to him. After I take control of the Queen, I will have achieved the ultimate victory.”
No sooner had Aldany finished speaking than a Serpent soldier ran up to him.
“Sir! The Queen’s palace has been fully secured! We are now ensuring Her Majesty’s safety. Queen’s Guard Zara and the Greenwater Tribe High Priest are fighting General Akran. General Akran won’t be able to win quickly.”
Upon hearing this news, Aldany’s smile grew even wider. Both pieces of information were good news for him.
However, these weren’t the pieces of news he cared about most.
He hurriedly asked the soldier, “What about the situation at the Great Library?”
“The Great Library is very quiet. We haven’t seen any signs of battle,” the soldier answered.
Aldany felt a sense of confusion at the soldier’s response. According to his expectations, the battle between Andrew and Charles should have been fierce. Yet, up to this point, Charles still hadn’t appeared outside the Great Library. In some sense, this could mean that Andrew’s actions had already been successful.
“I see! Immediately urge everyone to continue following the plan! We’re very close to complete success!”
Once the soldier left, Aldany turned his gaze back to Kent the High Priest.
“Now, no one can help you. More than half of Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis is under my control. I just need to use the Queen’s name to order General Sost to relinquish control of the frontlines, and the entire Serpent Empire will be mine.”
He didn’t intend to hide his plan. In fact, at this point, anyone could guess what his plan was.
Kent the High Priest was so angry that he could barely speak. Struggling to suppress his fury, he warned Aldany.
“Your plan will not go as smoothly as you think! No matter who your outside ally is, Charles will not be easily defeated by you. And General Sost will not obey your orders.”
“These matters are no longer your concern,” Aldany replied with a contemptuous laugh. “I won’t kill you. I’ll lock you and the other high priests together. You’ll witness my ultimate victory and watch as I ascend to the throne of the Serpent Empire.”
His eyes were filled with longing. The throne of the Serpent Empire was the one thing he desired above all else.
“Stop dreaming! You will never become the Emperor of the Serpent Empire! All Serpents are loyal to Her Majesty the Queen!” Kent the High Priest shouted loudly just before being taken away.
Aldany didn’t pay any attention to the words. To him, it was just the furious outburst of someone who had no power.
Once Kent the High Priest was taken away, the Regent’s Grand Pyramid fell completely silent. Aldany’s excitement gradually faded.
The entire plan was progressing very smoothly, and now, the only part that needed attention was the part that wasn’t going well.
“Has there been no news from the Great Library? I must go there personally,” Aldany decided. He would go to the Great Library himself.
Charles was the final unstable factor in his plan. As long as he could deal with Charles, his plan would be flawless.
Meanwhile, in the Great Library, Andrew was growing increasingly confused as he searched for traces of the level-five Beast Master that Aldany had mentioned.
“There are no traces of any Beast Master here, not even traces of a human!” Andrew thought to himself. “Is Aldany lying to me? But why would he lie to me? Aren’t I his ally?”
A series of questions swirled in Andrew’s mind. He couldn’t find any trace of the human Beast Master.
