Charles sprinted swiftly toward the exit of the tunnel, all while drawing out his Chasing the Moon Bow.

Glowing with radiant brilliance, arrows shot forth in rapid succession.

One by one, the Desert Goblins attempting to approach Charles were killed by his arrows.

Behind him, Liam Chen also reacted quickly.

He pulled out a staff.

Charles had initially thought Liam Chen would use the staff to cast spells against the Desert Goblins.

But to his surprise, Liam Chen began wielding the staff as a melee weapon instead.

While it wasn’t unheard of for a Beast Master to engage in close combat, using a staff as a melee weapon was exceedingly rare among their kind.

Charles couldn’t help but make a teasing remark.

“You really are a rather unique Beast Master! Most Beast Masters would never dream of using a staff for close combat.”

Liam Chen heard Charles’s words and responded with a slightly embarrassed look.

“I didn’t really have a choice. His Highness the Crown Prince never provided me with any other weapons, and this staff is all I own.”

Hearing this only made Charles more certain—Liam Chen’s family likely hadn’t survived whatever tragedy had befallen them.

But now wasn’t the time to say anything more.

The area they were in was extremely dangerous.

The presence of so many Desert Goblins in the tunnel clearly meant that the nest was nearby.

They needed to get out as fast as possible.

After advancing through the tunnel for about fifteen minutes, both of them suddenly caught sight of a glimmer of light at the end.

“There’s the exit! Let’s hurry!” Liam Chen exclaimed in excitement.

He immediately picked up his pace and dashed ahead of Charles.

But Charles wasn’t nearly as thrilled—he had sensed something unnatural about the light ahead.

“Wait! That’s not the exit!” he shouted loudly toward Liam Chen.

Unfortunately, Liam had already reached the area near the light.

It was too late for him to stop.

He charged straight into the light.

What he saw next left him utterly stunned.

Before him stretched a vast underground canyon, and it was completely filled with Desert Goblins lying all around.

At the center of the canyon, a massive Desert Goblin was continuously birthing more of its kind. It was clearly the Desert Goblin Queen.

“We’re doomed! We’ve stumbled right into the heart of the Desert Goblin nest!” Liam Chen said, his voice trembling.

He truly believed there was no way out of this.

At that moment, nearly every Desert Goblin turned their gaze toward him.

The ones nearest to him immediately rushed forward, brandishing their crude weapons as they charged.

Liam Chen stood frozen, watching everything unfold before his eyes. He made no move, as though still trapped in the overwhelming shock of what he had just witnessed.

A sudden gust of cold wind swept past from behind him.

In the very next instant, a blast of bluish-green light, surging with immense power, exploded in front of him.

Only then did he finally snap back to reality.

“What are you still standing there for?! You already know this is the very heart of the Desert Goblin nest—so run, now!” Charles shouted.

Without waiting for a response, he grabbed Liam Chen and pulled him along, retreating at full speed.

Charles didn’t intend to retrace their original path. Instead, he chose to take advantage of the complex network of tunnels dug by the Desert Goblins to find another way out.

Even with the aid of hidden clues, navigating such a labyrinth of underground tunnels and locating the fastest escape route was no easy task.

Fortunately, Charles had his mystical beasts to rely on.

Mousie leapt from shadow to shadow, constantly scanning the layout of the tunnels during its jumps.

Meanwhile, Rainbow, guided by its natural instinct for treasure hunting, swiftly marked the exact locations of hidden treasures in the surroundings.

Desert Goblins were notoriously greedy creatures.

They hoarded all treasures in the very core of their nests.

Which meant—those marked locations were the very places they must avoid at all costs.

With the help of Mousie and Rainbow, Charles quickly identified the most direct path toward the exit.

As the two of them ran, the number of Desert Goblins behind them steadily increased.

The stench in the air had grown so overpowering that it was nearly enough to make them faint.

At the same time, the deafening noise from the Desert Goblins also started interfering with Charles and Liam Chen’s concentration.

Both of them were struggling, but they knew full well just how dangerous the situation had become.

No matter what difficulties arose, they could not afford to stop.

And so, the two of them continued forward through the underground tunnels constructed by the Desert Goblins, eventually arriving at a massive subterranean lake.

Liam Chen froze in place.

He looked at Charles in disbelief and asked, “Is this… the exit?”

Charles frowned deeply, lost in thought. He didn’t respond.

Because he too had realized—this couldn’t possibly be the exit.

Even with hidden clues and the help of his mystical beasts, he had still been misled by the intricate tunnel network created by the Desert Goblins.

“Let’s head back the way we came! The Goblins behind us are still a fair distance away!” Liam Chen said quickly, finally reacting to the reality of the situation.

He turned to Charles and urged him in a hurried voice.

Charles shook his head firmly.

“We absolutely cannot go back! If we turn around now, we’ll run straight into the main force of the Desert Goblins. There are far too many of them—we have no chance of defeating such a massive horde!”

“Then what are we supposed to do? Are you saying we should dive into the lake instead?”

Liam Chen asked anxiously, his voice rising.

He was hoping that by framing it as a rhetorical question, Charles would come to his senses and realize that turning back was their only option.

But to his surprise, Charles’s face lit up with sudden realization.

“You’re right! The path I found earlier might not have been wrong after all! If we go beneath the lake, we might be able to find the fastest exit.”

With that, Charles jumped straight into the lake.

Liam Chen was stunned speechless by what he saw.

He had never imagined that Charles would think in such a wild and unconventional way.

Nor could he believe that there might actually be a tunnel leading to the outside world hidden beneath the lake.

He hesitated, beginning to consider whether he should just return alone.

But before he could decide, the overwhelming stench and thunderous noise of the Goblins surged from behind.

The Desert Goblins had caught up.

Turning back alone now would be suicide. He had no other option.

Clenching his teeth, he leapt into the lake after Charles.

The moment he plunged beneath the surface, he was shocked to discover that there was air below.

“The lake’s surface is just a disguise! These Desert Goblins are insanely cunning—they actually disguised the real exit like this!”

Liam Chen quickly gathered his thoughts.

Ahead of him, Charles called out loudly.

“This isn’t the time to talk about that! The Desert Goblins aren’t going to stop—we need to keep moving!”

Urged on by Charles, Liam Chen suddenly saw the Goblins beginning to close in again.

He was already exhausted, but if he wanted to make it out alive, he had no choice but to grit his teeth and push forward.

Charles led the way, sprinting ahead, while Liam Chen forced himself to follow, struggling to keep up.

After about ten minutes of running, they reached another fork in the path.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Charles pointed to the left passage.

“This way! The left tunnel is the exit! As long as we go through it, we’ll finally be out of the Desert Goblin nest!”

Liam Chen’s face broke into a smile of pure relief.

“At long last—we’re out of that nightmare. We’re finally safe.”

He sighed with emotion.

But no sooner had the words left his mouth than the ground beneath them began to shake violently.

In the next instant, the entire tunnel collapsed.

Both of them plummeted downward, landing hard onto a massive stone platform.

And at the far end of that platform… stood an enormous Desert Goblin.

This Desert Goblin was even larger than the Desert Goblin Queen Liam Chen had encountered before.

“Would you please stop popping the champagne early? Every time you say we’re out of danger, we end up facing something even worse,”

Charles said coldly.

He was beginning to think Liam Chen was far too emotional.

And a person that emotional could never withstand immense pressure.

Still, Charles didn’t dwell on it—he simply made his remark and let it go.

Because what lay ahead of them now… was a battle against that towering Desert Goblin.

“Foolish humans! You dare trespass into my palace? I’ll show you just how powerful a Queen truly is!”

the massive Desert Goblin snarled, her voice echoing through the chamber as she slowly rose to her feet.

It was then that the two of them finally realized—

This Desert Goblin wasn’t just a queen.

She was the Queen of Queens, the most powerful among all Desert Goblins.

Charles gripped his Chasing the Moon Bow tightly.

Around him, several of his mystical beasts braced for battle.

Liam Chen’s legs were trembling, but he wasn’t planning to run.

In fact, he had nowhere to run.

If he turned back now, he would be swallowed whole by the sea of Desert Goblins flooding the tunnel behind them.

“I mean you no offense! We simply stumbled into your domain by accident! If you let us leave, we won’t raise our weapons against you!”

Charles shouted.

The Desert Goblin Queen let out a piercing, mocking laugh.

“How arrogant! You are in no position to threaten me!

And everything that enters Desert Goblin territory becomes the property of the Desert Goblins!

You two will be my snack. But fear not—

in fact, you should consider it an honor.”

What she said wasn’t entirely untrue.

By Desert Goblin standards, only the strongest creatures were worthy of being devoured by the Queen.

Some elite Desert Goblin warriors even volunteered to become the Queen’s meal.

And when they were finally consumed, they felt neither hatred nor pain—only pride and fulfillment.
