First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2226 - It’s Him! It’s Him!

Chapter 2226 – It’s Him! It’s Him!

The clouds were dark and heavy, and the night was increasingly impenetrable.

Ku Zhen and High Elder Yuan Shan had thoroughly locked onto Su Yi.

Su Yi could see the mockery and disdain in their smiles. He couldn’t help but smile too. “But then, that makes sense. If you knew who I was, you would never have been so stupid as to come here tonight to throw your lives away.”

Ku Zhen was stunned.

Yuan Shan, however, instinctively scanned the surrounding area. “You have helpers nearby?”

Xiao Jian was just too calm. The two of them couldn’t quite see through him, and they didn’t dare to act recklessly.

But before Su Yi could respond, Ku Zhen said, “There’s no way he has any helpers! Before we set out, I confirmed that the daughter of the leader of the Qilin Race had left Divine Abyss City.

“As for the grand elder, I told him at tonight’s banquet that the high elder was already on his way. Wei Zhong knows what’s good for him, so he agreed to stay out of this!”

A bloodthirsty light lit in Ku Zhen’s eyes. “We’re extremely far away from Divine Abyss City. Even if a Master God rushed over at top speed, they’d need some time to get here.

“The boy cannot escape, not even if he grows wings, nor could he possibly have any helpers!”

Su Yi laughed. “That’s indeed the case, but… I had no intention of asking anyone for help, anyway.”

He stretched lazily. “You know what? I’m actually quite happy you brought High Elder Yuan Shan with you tonight.”

“What do you mean by that?” Ku Zhen frowned. Xiao Jian suddenly seemed like a completely different person. Everything he said and did was out of the ordinary.

“I’ve spent the past several months recovering from injuries,” said Su Yi. He took out a jug of wine and had a sip. “It hasn’t been long since I recovered, and to my delight, my cultivation has advanced considerably.”

His voice was utterly rueful.

Di E injured him badly before he even entered the God Domain, almost destroying both him and his cultivation base. As a result, he’d had little choice but to lie low and keep a low profile. He hadn’t experienced any true combat since.

Now, he’d run into a rare opponent, a Two-Tribulation Master God. This awakened Su Yi’s long-dormant hot blood and ignited his will to fight!

Yuan Shan seemed to understand the implications, but he couldn’t help but laugh. “Hahaha! You’re a Lesser God. Surely you don’t plan to fight me?”

“Why should I fight you?” Su Yi’s eyes filled with the irrepressible thirst for battle.

He casually put away his jug of wine, took out a bronze umbrella, and tossed it into the air.

Boom!

The bronze umbrella expanded countless times over, like a curtain of darkness enveloping the dome of heaven and all of the surrounding landscape.

Chaos qi flowed down its sides, like countless strange talisman markings. They emanated a mystical power that separated them from the outside world completely!

“The Umbrella of Tribulations!” Ku Zhen’s expression shifted. “That’s a supreme treasure of the Severed Heavens Demon Court. How did you get your hands on it? Don’t tell me that you’re the one who killed NIu Kui, Wang Teng, and the others?”

Su Yi shook his head. “The Three Purities Daoist Court did that. What could that possibly have to do with me?”

“You dare lie to me even now?” Ku Zhen roared. “You deserve to die!”

But High Elder Yuan Shan said thoughtfully, “Having that umbrella separate us from the outside world is good too. That’ll prevent the disturbance from drawing others over.”

Su Yi smiled. “That’s exactly what I was thinking.”

He stood there calmly in robes whiter than snow, and he’d even taken out the Umbrella of Tribulations to sever their connection to the surrounding area. Yuan Shan and Ku Zhen increasingly felt that something was amiss.

“It seems you’ve prepared some killer weapon. That’s why you’re so fearless,” said Yuan Shan, his eyes flashing. “Why not reveal it to us?”

Su Yi mentally calculated the time, then nodded. “Alright.”

Whoosh!

He vanished into thin air, then appeared near Yuan Shan a moment later, fist swinging.

The terrifying power of his blood and qi shook the heavens. His punch was like the descent of a true Torch Dragon diving at Yuan Shan.

Ku Zhen was stunned. How could a mere Lesser God be so reckless as to attack a Two-Tribulation Master God?

Has he realized that he’s doomed no matter what and decided that he’d rather die by the hand of a Master God? Can he simply not bear the thought of dying by my hand?

Yuan Shan was surprised too, but as a Master God, he still reacted quickly. His qi rumbled and boomed, and his large, powerful hands slashed like blades.

Bang!!

Su Yi’s fist force instantly fell apart.

Yuan Shan’s eyes flashed with a hint of disdain. He suddenly took a step forward, raised his knifelike palm, and struck once more. He planned to seize this opportunity to suppress Xiao Jian while he was close at hand.

But then, Su Yi’s entire body erupted with a clanging sword hum, and a turbulent, chaotic sword rain came pouring down.

This is bad! Yuan Shan’s pupils constricted. Even if you’d hit him over the head, he would never have guessed that Xiao Jian would transform like this. In a flash, his power had multiplied countless times over!

There was no time to dodge. Instead, Yuan Shan let out a cold grunt and clashed with Su Yi head-on.

“Activate!” His sleeves billowed around him, and a wave of black Laws of the Divine Dao manifested an eighteen-layered barrier between worlds!

It was also then that the torrential rain of sword qi descended.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

An ear-splitting impact rang out. The surrounding skies split like paper, and the landscape collapsed as a current of destructive power swept outward.

Yuan Shan retreated explosively, alarm and fury written all over his face as he roared, “Just who are you!?”

That power of the Dao of the Sword was just too terrifying. It was far, far beyond his initial estimates. It had even completely shattered his eighteen-layered barrier!

His robes were in tatters, and bloody sword gashes had torn open all over his skin. His injuries weren’t severe, but he did look wretched.

Off in the distance, Ku Zhen looked as if he’d been struck by lightning. He was so startled that his eyes practically popped out of their sockets.

In just one attack, he actually managed to injure High Elder Yuan Shan. How is such power possible for a Master God!?

Su Yi, meanwhile, was quite startled too.

He’d feigned weakness before attacking with all his might. He’d originally planned to catch Yuan Shan off guard.

Who’d have thought the old-timer was this impressive? He’d managed to block anyway!

“You’ll naturally find out who I am…” laughed Su Yi, “If you can defeat me.”

He shifted through the air and attacked once more, but this time, he no longer hid his cultivation base, and he drew upon his true powers of the Grand Dao.

Boom!

He stepped through the air, endless chaos sword qi revolving around him. It was inscrutable and mysterious, and it suppressed and crushed the surrounding one hundred thousand feet of sky.

When he waved his hand, a streak of chaos sword qi shot forth. It was as simple as could be, yet it flew with all-encompassing tyrannical momentum.

High Elder Yuan Shan roared in fury and attacked valiantly.

He was a yao cultivator who’d achieved divinity through body refining, so his fleshly body was incomparably, terrifyingly powerful. The power of his blood and qi was comparable to top-notch divine treasures.

When he unleashed the full extent of his Two-Tribulation Master God cultivation base, heaven and earth shook.

Bang!!

High Elder Yuan Shan punched and shattered Su Yi’s incoming sword qi, so powerful as to make onlookers’ hearts quiver.

But this was just what Su Yi most wanted to see. He threw back his head and laughed, using his fingers as a sword. When he launched his next furious streak of chaos sword qi, it was as if he were drawing upon the river of stars.

In a flash, he and Yuan Shan had clashed over one hundred times. Waves of sword qi crisscrossed throughout the battlefield.

He was obviously a Lesser God, but he was so terrifyingly strong that he was holding his own against Yuan Shan!

“Those aren’t the legacies of the Torch Dragons!” Ku Zhen’s expression shifted, and he felt a chill in his hands and feet. “His strength is far beyond that of a Lesser God, too. He could kill Greater Gods with ease!”

He finally understood why Xiao Jian had disdained to attack him earlier. It was simple. A Greater God like him was really no threat at all!

Just… who is he? How could such an unreasonable Lesser God exist in this world? Don’t tell me that he isn’t in the Creation Realm after all, and that he’s an old monster who somehow managed to hide his true cultivation base?

Ku Zhen’s expression shifted erratically. From the first time he laid eyes on Xiao Jian, he sensed that there was something amiss with this young descendant of the Torch Dragons.

But even if you’d hit him over the head, he would never have guessed that the problem would be this enormous or this unsettling!

“Break!!” Yuan Shan roared in fury, swinging his fist like a hammer and forcing Su Yi back.

His hair and beard bristled with anger, and his blood and qi burned like a furnace. His terrifying power was enough to make even the vast majority of Greater Gods give in to terror and despair.

Thud!

He took a step forward, and a stinging black power of the Laws spread outward, with terrifying visions of the destruction of the sun and moon and Yin and Yang plunged into disarray.

Several thousand feet away, Su Yi wiped the fresh blood from the corner of his lips and sighed. A Two-Tribulation Master God is far more troublesome than a One-Tribulation Master God.

And Yuan Shan proved his Dao through his flesh. His body is far stronger than other Master Gods of the same level.

But that only made Su Yi all the more excited.

By this point of the battle, he was certain that he could kill a One-Tribulation Master God even without external treasures, and hold his own against a Two-Tribulation Master God!

“Since you’re really a sword cultivator, why not draw your sword?” bellowed Yuan Shan, swinging his fist explosively.

Su Yi disregarded him. He was still fighting barehanded.

It had been a long time since he’d last fought a real battle, and it hadn’t been easy to find an opponent who could really threaten him. He naturally didn’t want to reveal all of his hidden cards right away.

He needed battles like this to temper himself, and besides, he thoroughly enjoyed this sort of fierce combat!

It had been far too long since he’d last immersed himself in combat like this. Who could possibly have understood how satisfying this was for him?

He unleashed the full extent of his attainments in the Dao of the Sword, his every strike brimming with endless sword qi.

High Elder Yuan Shan was terrifying too. He broke through all of Su Yi’s attacks, one by one.

But Su Yi blocked them all each time and fought with ever-greater valiance. The more setbacks he encountered, the more fiercely he fought. He was utterly unrestrained, and despite his rapidly accumulating injuries, his divine majesty remained contemptuous, tyrannical, and unparalleled in its sharpness.

Yuan Shan couldn’t help but find this startling and unbelievable.

He was certain that Xiao Jian really was in the Creation Realm, because his powers of the Grand Dao were all at that level. There was no faking that.

Yet for some reason, his powers of the Grand Dao were inexplicably, unbelievably terrifying.

But then, Ku Zhen’s voice suddenly resounded throughout the battlefield.

“High Elder, it’s him! He’s Su Yi——!”

He sounded enlightened, but more than that, astonished to the brink of hysteria.
