First Immortal of the Sword
Chapter 2167 - A Lifetime of Drinking Ice Cannot Cool My Hot BloodChapter 2167 – A Lifetime of Drinking Ice Cannot Cool My Hot Blood
Kcch!
A wisp of stingingly bright sword light appeared at Su Yi’s fingertip, which he drew through the air, using sword light as ink to create a strange and mysterious sword diagram.
The moment the sword diagram took shape, the distant skies silently collapsed, and spacetime power burst forth.
The spacetime power was like a whirlpool, and an ancient altar slowly floated out of its depths.
Boom!!
A streak of blood-red sword qi shot out of the altar.
Su Yi waved his hand, and the sword diagram he’d outlined shot through the air, blocking the blood-red sword qi.
Then, something unbelievable happened.
The sword diagram seemed to come to life. It continuously absorbed the blood-red sword qi. As it did, it expanded, and soon, it was over ten feet in diameter.
“Let’s go.” Su Yi led the way, and he and the monkey stepped onto the sword diagram.
The diagram slowly sank, then carried them toward the ancient altar.
In the blink of an eye, they’d vanished.
……
A vast, open landscape. A gentle breeze blew past, and soft clouds hovered overhead.
One of the larger mountains was covered in all manner of old buildings.
A thousand streaks of divine radiance, ten thousand streaks of auspicious light, and a waterfall formed seemingly out of divine power poured down from the peak.
Its slopes were covered in flowing waterfalls, cliffside springs, and evergreen trees. In addition to the buildings, there were medicine gardens, ritual grounds, bell towers, and many other structures.
It was like an otherworldly pure land, the home of gods or immortals.
This was the hidden realm Yi Daoxuan had left here, the Ice Drinker Sword Realm!
Su Yi and the little monkey were currently climbing the blue stone path through the mountains.
There were divine medicines growing all along the path. Some were rooted in cracks in the rocks, while others grew between the ancient trees. All of them emanated divine radiance and a dense medicinal fragrance.
Even just breathing it in was enough to calm the heart and soothe the soul.
“Master, what is this place?” exclaimed the little monkey.
“A hidden realm I left here in my past life,” Su Yi said casually. “I prepared it as a safe place for my descendants to seek refuge. Without knowing the secret method to get in, not even Master Gods can force their way inside.”
As Su Yi spoke, he headed for a spot halfway up the mountain with practiced familiarity.
There was a medicine garden here, fully two acres in size. Over a thousand types of medicinal herbs grew here. Most were immortal medicines, but there were a few true divine medicines here, too.
Su Yi waved his sleeve and collected all of the divine medicine.
He then led the little monkey on a stroll to other key locations.
There was a scripture repository with over ten thousand tomes, all of them cultivation legacies that Yi Daoxuan had gathered over the course of his life.
The scripture repository was comparable to that of some of the God Domain’s greatest orthodoxies. It was like an ocean of knowledge!
Were any other god to come here, they’d likely slaver at the mouth and go mad with delight.
But this astonishing collection of ancient tomes had been left here to gather dust. It had been a long, long time since anyone had turned any of the tomes’ pages.
Aside from the scripture repository, there were private rooms for cultivation, immortal caves used to temper one’s powers of the Grand Dao, halls for refining artifacts and medicine, and other such facilities.
The little monkey couldn’t help but feel his horizons broadening. He repeatedly sighed with admiration.
Soon, they stood before a medicine-refining room outfitted with a bronze cauldron. It had been gathering dust for a long time, but there was still a batch of pills inside. From the look of them, they were top-notch immortal medicines.
A yellow-skinned gourd hung from the corner of the furnace. Su Yi walked over, took it, and removed the stopper. A soothing medicinal fragrance instantly wafted into the air.
There were nine divine pills inside the gourd!
It’s a pity, but these are only Fortune Realm divine pills, Su Yi sighed to himself.
Yi Daoxuan had lived a life full of setbacks, obstacles, and misfortune. Even after becoming a Master God, he lived a life on the run, always in dire straits.
Most of the rare divine medicines he’d gathered, he used up while fleeing for his life. He had little to spare.
Thus, the refuge he’d created for his descendants had no particularly rare or precious divine medicines.
Su Yi then led the little monkey to the mountaintop.
The only thing there was an altar with a sword case lying atop it. The sword case was worn, but it was as radiant as the light of the setting sun, and the brilliant, bleak but beautiful hue of freshly shed blood.
Clang!
When Su Yi walked over to it, the sword case hummed, the sound reverberating throughout the firmament.
The little monkey tensed. What terrifying sword qi!Even sealed in a case, that murderous intent is heart-shaking and soul-stirring!
Su Yi just pressed his hand on the blood-red sword case.
The case instantly quieted down, like a tamed beast.
“As the ancient poem went, ‘A lifetime of drinking ice cannot cool my hot blood.’ Thus, this sword is called Ice Drinker,” Su Yi whispered. “This was the sword Yi Daoxuan used prior to becoming a Master God. It’s slain countless foes and gorged itself on divine blood. It’s seen countless battles both great and small.
“All that fighting dampened its edge and corroded its spirituality. In the end, Yi Daoxuan could no longer fight with it, so he chose to seal it here and turn it into the divine artifact that maintains the bounds of this hidden realm. He hoped that it could protect his descendants and clansmen into the future.”
The blood-red sword qi that periodically erupted in the Demon Crow Mountains came from the sword sealed there, the Ice Drinker Blood Sword!
Su Yi flicked a finger, and the blood-red sword case instantly shrank many times over. When it was the size of a thumb, it landed in Su Yi’s palm.
“Master, if you left this hidden realm for your descendants, why haven’t they sought refuge inside?” asked the little monkey.
Su Yi fell briefly silent, then said, “Only those of my descendants who’ve awakened the Nine Apertures Sword Meridian can enter.”
This wasn’t intended to test or filter his descendants. Yi Daoxuan put this in place because he had no other choice. He’d had far too many enemies. The more he left for his descendants, the more likely their wealth would bring ruin.
Better to sever his clansmen’s connection with him, then have them hide in the Billowing Blue Realm under a different surname. That way, they could live out their days in peace, and his enemies wouldn’t target them.
This was one of the reasons that Yi Daoxuan had chosen to move his clansmen to the Billowing Blue Realm; he’d had only the best of intentions.
But the Nine Apertures Sword Meridian was unique. If someone awakened this talent, his enemies were sure to discover it.
That was why Yi Daoxuan left this hidden realm. With it in place, any of his descendants who awakened the Nine Apertures Sword Meridian could seek refuge here and grow stronger as soon as possible!
Unfortunately, Yi Daoxuan hadn’t anticipated that in the hundreds of thousands of years following his reincarnation, his descendants would decline and perish amidst the shifting of worldly affairs.
Moreover, in all that time, not one of his descendants had awakened a Nine Apertures Sword Meridian!
Otherwise, someone would have entered this hidden realm, the Ice Drinker Sword Realm, a long time ago.
But A’Ling actually has a shot at awakening a Nine Apertures Sword Meridian… thought Su Yi.
He recalled what had happened not long ago, when A’Ling broke through and stepped into the Profound Dao.
“Master, why did you arrange for your descendants to seek refuge in the Billowing Blue Realm back then?” asked the little monkey.
“A long, long time ago, the influence of the laws meant that the Path of Divinity did not exist here. Thus, gods were unwilling to come here. They saw it as a barren, primitive place.
“Even if they wanted to come here, any god who forced their way in would face the backlash and restriction of the Laws,” said Su Yi.
“That was why I arranged for my descendants to come here. It’s just a pity that… time changes everything. The Billowing Blue Realm transformed in the years that followed. It’s nothing like it was back then.”
It really had changed. The Laws of the Billowing Blue Realm had shifted so that it was most suited to demon and yao cultivators. Human cultivators were at a huge disadvantage.
If a human wanted to cultivate here, their progress would be slow, and their tribulations would be many times more perilous than those of a yao or demon of the same level. At higher levels, this meant almost certain death!
Especially for those who’d already stepped into the Immortal Dao. If a human cultivator strove for greater heights of the Dao, they had almost no hope of success!
This was the primary reason behind the decline of the Billowing Blue Realm’s human factions, and the reason that humans were at the lowest echelons of society here.
The Yi Family had declined amidst these changes, and the strengthened yao and demon factions had attacked and surrounded them, leading to their demise.
Now, sisters Yang Shuang’er and A’Ling were the only ones left.
“Let’s go.” Su Yi turned and headed toward the exit.
He’d just had several good ideas. He planned to lead the people of Grassy Creek Village, including Yang Shuang’er and A’Ling, and get them safely settled in the Ice Drinker Sword Realm!
With the Ice Drinker Blood Sword, he could put the Ice Drinker Sword Realm away and carry it with him!
Ultimately, the Ice Drinker Sword Realm was just a hidden realm. Yi Daoxuan had long since refined it and made it his own.
“Master, in your heart, are some races superior to others?” the little monkey couldn’t help but ask.
He’d learned the situation in the Billowing Blue Realm, and he knew how bleak humanity’s situation was. Yao and demons dominated and enslaved them year-round.
They were like fish on the chopping block, their lives not theirs to control.
Su Yi didn’t even pause to think. “There are countless living things in this world. Some are born lofty as the stars overhead, while others are as humble as blades of grass. However, even a blade of grass can grow strong enough to sever stars!
“That’s the meaning of cultivation!”
“In the path of cultivation, differences of race, of loftiness, and superiority are pointless. What really matters is whose power of the Grand Dao is strongest in the end.”
The little monkey couldn’t help but ask, “But in the Billowing Blue Realm, it’s hard for human cultivators to find any chance to rise to prominence. How are they supposed to change their situation?”
Su Yi laughed. “Take a long-term view of things, and remember, just a few hundred thousand years ago, the Billowing Blue Realm was incapable of giving rise to deities! Who knows how things will develop in the future?”
“If I one day take control of this world, I could alter the Laws of the Billowing Blue Realm with a single thought, and everything would change accordingly.”
The monkey was briefly stunned, but then he nodded. It was true!
Time changed all things, and worldly affairs were ever shifting. Who’d dare to say with confidence that the humans of the Billowing Blue Realm would never be able to change their situation?
After leaving the Ice Drinker Sword Realm, it was bright out, and the three glittering golden suns hung overhead, illuminating the world below.
When Su Yi and the little monkey returned, they saw a man in white standing outside of Grassy Creek Village.
Whoosh!
The white-robed man looked past Su Yi, then fixed his gaze on the little monkey.
“I am Cai Lei, a Wandering Sun God of Qingwu Divine Court. I’m responsible for surveying the Billowing Blue Realm, and I’ve been waiting here for you for quite some time!”
