First Immortal of the Sword
Chapter 2131 - With My Dao of the Sword, I Arbitrate the Past, Present, and FutureChapter 2131 – With My Dao of the Sword, I Arbitrate the Past, Present, and Future
Su Yi understood. His third incarnation really had stepped in to help him because he couldn’t bear the thought of Su Yi dying at someone else’s hands.
All of this was for the sake of replacing Su Yi after defeating him!
“Xiao Jian was right earlier. Although you’ve become a god, the gap between you and him is enormous. You have to raise your cultivation base as quickly as possible,” warned the River Lord.
“Xiao Jian?” asked Su Yi. “Is that my third incarnation’s name?”
The River Lord nodded. “‘Xiao’ like wind blowing through the leaves, and ‘Jian’ as in ‘presiding over slaughter.’”
The River Lord paused, then patiently explained, “The power of reincarnation covering the Path of the Ancient Gods was fading, but it should have lasted another hundred years.
“However, when you underwent tribulation just now, it dealt massive damage to the Path of the Ancient Gods’ natural order. I estimate that the power of reincarnation will hold for another thirty years at most!
“When the time comes, the natural order of the Path of the Ancient Gods will collapse. The division of the past, present, and future will crumble, and time and space will descend into upheaval. All manner of calamities and variables will unfold in the present day!”
“Thirty years, huh…?” Su Yi’s eyes narrowed, but then, he recalled a certain phrase and laughed. “‘Thirty years to the east of the river, thirty years to the west of the river. No one knows what life will bring you, so don’t look down on an impoverished youth!’”
The River Lord sneered, “You’re no longer a youth, and you aren’t the least bit impoverished, either!”
“You’re so lustful that you don’t know how to appreciate anything that doesn’t get your dirty mind going.” Su Yi glanced at him. “Enough. Tell me in detail. What is going to happen to the world in thirty years?”
“Simply put, in thirty years, the entirety of the past, present, and future will enter an age of darkness and upheaval!” said the River Lord, suddenly solemn. “When the time comes, changes will arise in the unknown forbidden grounds of the God Domain, as well as the taboo chaos grounds of all other worlds.
“Yao, gods, demons, and Buddhas thought to exist only in ancient legends will enter the world, one after another, as will ancient, long-eradicated races and clans!
“Disregarding the rest, every terrifying existence the power of reincarnation has consigned to the darkness of the Path of the Ancient Gods will reawaken and re-enter the world.”
Here, the River Lord looked at Su Yi. “Over a hundred epoch civilizations are buried in the Abyssal Ruin at the far end of the Path of the Ancient Gods, including numerous terrifying existences.
“Before, Xiao Jian was overseeing the place. That prevented those old monsters from acting recklessly. Without him, their cultivation bases are so strong that they might well have been able to break free of the Path of the Ancient Gods a long time ago. They’re definitely more than strong enough to completely overturn the balance of power in the Ancient God Domain!
“When the Dark Days of Legend are upon us, those old monsters will all break free of the Path of the Ancient Gods and run rampant in the outside world!”
Even though Su Yi had heard rumors and predictions regarding the Dark Days of Legend, he couldn’t help but be solemn.
Legends would re-enter the world, and everything vanished and destroyed would live again!
It was easy to foresee how chaotic the God Domain would become.
“Actually, turmoil has already arisen in the worlds of the present day,” said the River Lord. “The most obvious example of this is that ancient hidden realms are emerging in unknown places throughout the God Domain. They contain legacies not of this era, and they’re in search of inheritors.
“As you know, numerous powerful beings cannot yet enter the world, but they can issue orders, recruit devotees, and ready their forces. They’ve already begun preparing for the day they can break free and enter the world.”
Su Yi couldn’t help but nod. It was similar to the situation during his time in the Immortal Realm; the gods couldn’t enter, but they could order their emissaries and worshippers to do their bidding on their behalf.
Many of the Immortal Realm’s orthodoxies had even pledged themselves to the gods’ cause!
No matter how much things changed, they retained their essence. The terrifying existences of this era were still limited, but they were surely doing everything they could to prepare.
“When the leaves fall, you know that autumn has come. Similarly, the first signs of upheaval in the God Realm are already upon us, and these changes and catastrophes will only increase until… the Dark Days of Legend are truly upon us!” said the River Lord. “Are you afraid?”
Su Yi froze briefly, then laughed. “Why should I be afraid? If the Dark Days of Legend are unavoidable, I’ll just have to use my sword to cleave open an invincible Grand Dao all my own!”
He paused, then added, “To me, being surrounded by enemies on all sides is the greatest fortune of all!”
The River Lord rubbed his forehead and sighed. “Whatever you do, don’t get complacent. Don’t forget that the disappearance of the natural order of reincarnation is what caused all this.
“You control the power of reincarnation. Who knows how many powerful foes will target you over it?
“Those terrifying existences should have died a long time ago. There’s no way they’ll tolerate the return of reincarnation’s power and the divisions of the past, present, and future!”
Su Yi laughed. “Ah, but I’m going to do it anyway, so they’ll have no choice but to tolerate it!”
“…” The River Lord didn’t know what to say.
Su Yi, meanwhile, continued, entirely unperturbed. “Those guys should have died and been destroyed completely a long time ago. If the power of reincarnation wasn’t enough to finish them off, something must have gone wrong with it.
“If I get the chance, I’ll naturally perfect the natural order of reincarnation, suppress those who should not exist, and quell the chaos and upheaval. I’ll let the past be the past, the present be the present, and the future be the future.”
“And if the power of reincarnation isn’t enough….” Su Yi laughed. “Then I’ll use my Dao of the Sword to arbitrate the natural order of the past, present, and future!”
The River Lord gasped. Su Yi’s last sentence really was beyond his expectations, and he was overcome with astonishment.
They were mere words, but how could the River Lord fail to sense how great Su Yi’s courage was?
After a brief pause, the River Lord said, “Some things are best not discussed here in the Path of the Ancient Gods. Once you’ve returned to the River of Epochs, I’ll come looking for you. Let’s talk about this more thoroughly then.”
Su Yi was briefly stunned, but he quickly guessed what the River Lord was getting at. He must be afraid that my third incarnation, Xiao Jian, will overhear us!
“Very well.” Su Yi didn’t refuse. The River Lord knew far more about this than he’d imagined. He really did want to find an opportunity to talk things over with him.
“What do you plan to do next?” asked the River Lord.
“Continue my challenge,” said Su Yi. “Then, I’ll take a trip to the Ancient God Domain and see what sights these lost epoch civilizations have to offer. While I’m at it, I’ll reclaim the Drum of Injustice’s mallet, and…”
But before he could finish, the River Lord warned, “Whatever you do, don’t go to the far end of the Path of the Ancient Gods! It’s not just ‘dangerous. If you go, you’ll die beyond a doubt.”
“…”
“Xiao Jian is a man of his word, just like you. He wouldn’t gamble if he weren’t willing to accept defeat. He said he won’t make trouble for you, so he won’t. However, if you go provoke him, not even I will be able to save you.”
Su Yi nodded. “Very well. I’ll heed your advice.”
The River Lord felt a massive weight lift from his shoulders. “Alright. I’ll get going, then….”
“Wait!’ said Su Yi. “There are two things I need your help with first.”
The River Lord seemed to realize what Su Yi was after. “You want me to help Luo Xuanji?”
Su Yi nodded. “That’s the first thing.”
“Alright, leave it to me.” The River Lord nodded. “What’s the other thing?”
“After you leave, I’d like you to take a trip to the City of the Lost. My old friends are cultivating in seclusion there, and I’d like to see them before I leave for the God Domain.”
The River Lord said irritably, “And here I thought it was something urgent and important. Now it seems you’ve just taken me for an errand boy!”
Su Yi tossed him a jug of wine with a smile. “I won’t make you help for free. Take this wine as your reward.”
“You think you can fob me off with a single jug of wine?” The River Lord snorted coldly, then raised five fingers. “I’ll accept no less than five. No, ten!”
Su Yi laughed and agreed.
Did the River Lord really care about a bit of wine?
He didn’t.
Did Su Yi care about a bit of wine?
He didn’t care either.
But this was a token of his sincerity.
……
Outside the sixth tower.
When Su Yi emerged, he wasn’t surprised to discover that a crowd had gathered there. Lu Shuo, Bai Xiu, Yu Jiu, Jian Xingyun, Li Mu, and the others were there too.
All eyes were instantly on Su Yi. Silence quickly descended over the area.
No one said anything, but there was no disguising their astonishment.
Su Yi’s Divine Tribulation had been far too terrifying. The crowd couldn’t help but be overcome with shock, and their hearts filled with terror.
Now, when they saw Su Yi appear, all of them knew that the young man who’d just broken multiple records in a row had become a true deity.
The crowd was silent precisely because they could find no words to express their astonishment.
When Su Yi took in the stifled atmosphere, he couldn’t help but be a bit surprised. However, moments later, he shook his head, turned, and headed straight for the seventh divine tower.
Suddenly, Bai Xiu said out of nowhere, “Fellow Daoist, please wait.”
Su Yi stopped. “Do you have business with me?”
Bai Xiu said, “Our allies in the seventh, eighth, and ninth towers have already retreated.”
“Why?” exclaimed Su Yi.
His third incarnation, Xiao Jian, had sent nine experts to defeat him. There should have been three left.
But now, the final three had given up, effectively fleeing from battle.
“It was that senior’s orders,” said Bai Xiu, a complicated look on her face. “He said that we’re no longer qualified to be your opponents, and that persisting will only make us seem foolish…”
Su Yi quickly understood. There was no doubt about it. Xiao Jian knew that he’d stepped onto an unprecedented path of divinity, and that the experts he’d sent were no longer any match for him!
“I see,” said Su Yi. With that, he continued toward the seventh divine tower. His opponents might have left, but the trials remained.
Su Yi naturally wouldn’t miss them. After all, he’d just become a god, and he needed tempering to steady his foundations in the Creation Realm.
That aside, he wanted to test himself and see just how far he’d become.
The trials of the eighth and ninth towers were designed for Fortune Realm Greater Gods. The hidden challenges at the end would surely pit him against the strongest Greater Gods in history.
They’d be the perfect opponents to test his new cultivation base against!
The crowd watched, still silent, as his tall, upright figure disappeared into the seventh tower.
They said nothing, but their expressions grew complicated.
He’d only just become a god, but he was already continuing his challenge. He obviously didn’t plan to rest until he’d broken all nine records in all nine towers in a row!
