Chapter 1953: A Senior’s Care
The spearwoman’s eyes glinted with cold light. “Are you sure you want to fight?”
She was similarly domineering, with no intention of backing down.
At the same time, she transmitted to Su Yi, “These dead things will do whatever it takes to survive. There’s no way they’ll let up. In a moment, you and your companions should stick close to me. I’ll clear a path!”
Su Yi was stunned.
“It’d be best if we didn’t have to fight and disturb the peace,” said the man in Confucian robes. He smiled. “How about this? So long as Fellow Daoist Su lets us place a seal in his soul, we’ll agree to lie dormant in his Grand Dao Hidden Realm.”
“That’s right. That would work for us,” said the other dead gods.
Su Yi couldn’t help but smile. Do these dead things really think they can do with me as they please?
“Nothing but the ravings of a madman!” The spearwoman was furious, and her imposing aura soared around her. She raised her spear and pointed it at the man in Confucian robes and the other dead gods. “Come on, then! I’ll play with you dead things!”
Boom!
She stepped into the air, her majestic aura connecting heaven and earth. At the same time, Su Yi waved his sleeve through the air. Xi Ning and Luo Tiandu shot into the Divine Replenishment Furnace. He then stuck to the spearwoman like a shadow.
“Why insist on doing this the hard way?” The man in Confucian robes let out a deep sigh.
A moment later, he and the other seventeen dead gods attacked in unison.
Clang!
The man in Confucian robes held his head aloft in one hand. With the other, he gripped a severed sword and swung it through the air. A waterfall of sword qi swept forth, full of dense, boundless death qi.
One slash moved heaven and earth and made the mountains and rivers dim by comparison!
“Activate!” The man in Confucian robes bellowed. The thirty-three-story Daoist palace rose into the air behind him. Countless illusory gods protected it from within, and now, all of them attacked the spearwoman!
At the same time, the other dead gods unleashed the strongest methods at their disposals.
Kaboom!
Heaven and earth were flung into disarray. Everything was a vision of destruction.
Seventeen terrifying entities, each comparable to a Greater God, attacked in unison. Their terrifying power made the entire forbidden zone shake violently.
But Su Yi wasn’t affected, as the spearwoman was leading the way ahead. A colorful jade tripod cauldron hovered above her head, and a waterfall and resplendent Dao Light poured down like a waterfall, connecting heaven and earth. Its terrifying, mystical power blocked all of the dead gods’ attacks!
The spearwoman’s tall, slender figure struck like lightning as she swung her spear and cleared the way ahead.
It was a true battle of gods!
Each of the seventeen dead gods had the power of a Greater God, but the spearwoman’s power wasn’t one whit inferior.
From beginning to end, all Su Yi could do was stick close to her. He could in no way participate in a battle of this level, nor could he assist her in the slightest.
It was just too terrifying.
Even though he was confident that he had the heaven-defying power needed to contend with Lesser Gods, that wasn’t even worth looking at in a battle like this.
Boom!
Divine light ran rampant, and treasures rumbled and boomed.
As the battle raged with ever-greater intensity, the spearwoman faced a terrifying interception. The dead gods surrounded her on all sides.
Su Yi couldn’t help but furrow his brow. This feeling of uselessness wasn’t the least bit pleasant. It had been a long time since he’d last felt so helpless and insignificant.
But he wouldn’t lose heart over this. Sword cultivators lived without fear of death. Realizing the gap between him and the dead gods and sensing the omnipresent pressure around him only stirred his will to fight.
Bang!!!
The spearwoman suddenly swung her spear through the air and blocked a dead god’s attack.
At the same time, a radiant, dazzling flying knife suddenly shot out of her forehead, blurring into a beam of light before embedding itself in the same dead god’s skull.
Boom!
The dead god’s head exploded, and his body was sent flying backward.
But strangely, blasting his head to pieces wasn’t enough to destroy him! The headless corpse charged explosively and attacked once more!
Moments later…
Clang!!!
A heaven-shaking impact rang out as the jade cauldron over the spearwoman’s head blocked a strike. The force was so intense that even the spearwoman suffered a backlash and coughed up blood.
Su Yi’s heart clenched. He vividly recalled that she was already injured when they met! Now, she was injured and thoroughly surrounded on all sides; their situation didn’t bode well.
“A caged beast fights on. Tragic, tragic. Woman, if things go on like this, you’ll die beyond a doubt,” sighed the man in Confucian robes.
His voice was full of pity, but his attacks were the fiercest of all. His broken sword stirred up monstrous sword qi that ripped through the sky, tearing it to pieces. Every time the spearwoman broke through the dead gods’ encirclement, he forced her back.
“A caged beast? This lofty one has yet to truly go all out!” the spearwoman said with disdain.
As she spoke, she unleashed yet another killer weapon. This was a talisman carved with mysterious markings of the Divine Dao. When she shattered it, it transformed into a true dragon and sent the dead god flying.
Its body was blasted to bits!
But in the blink of an eye, the other dead gods attacked, and the divine dragon was shattered to bits. It failed to help the spearwoman escape.
Su Yi could tell that the spearwoman was strong, but she wasn’t that much stronger than the dead gods. One-on-one, none of them would be a match for her, but against the group, she was suppressed on all sides. She’d only lasted this long despite her situation and injuries because she had numerous powerful hidden cards up her sleeves. Every time her life was in peril, she’d reveal one to neutralize the danger.
Seeing this, Su Yi couldn’t help but sigh with amazement. Every last one of her hidden cards was a treasure of unfathomable power. They were far beyond “ordinary” Epoch Treasures!
Even after they were destroyed, the spearwoman wasn’t the least bit heartsick. From this, it was obvious that the spearwoman, as the Esteemed Demon God’s youngest daughter, had received all manner of treasures from her seniors, all of them rare and precious!
Boom!
The battle raged with ever-greater ferocity.
From time to time, dead gods were sent flying. It might have seemed like their wounds were severe, but they seemed unkillable; before long, all of them attacked once more.
They were simply too troublesome. Although the spearwoman had an abundance of treasures, she obviously wouldn’t be able to take this encirclement much longer. Even the hands tightly gripping her spear bled.
She obviously realized that her situation didn’t bode well. She suddenly gnashed her teeth, and her eyes shone with determination as she tossed a glittering golden scroll into the air.
“Die!!”
The scroll unfurled in the air, and a boundless rain of lightning instantly came crashing down.
It was like the descent of the apocalypse. Terrifying destructive power swept through heaven and earth, shattering the sky.
Two of the dead gods didn’t have time to dodge. They were blasted to bits on the spot, destroyed completely.
Witnessing this startled the other demon gods, all of whom fled immediately.
“It’s a pity,” muttered the spearwoman. She put the golden scroll painting away, then led Su Yi ahead.
But before she’d gotten far, the dead gods attacked once more, surrounding her on all sides.
“Die!”
“Fight! We still have a chance, but if we let this opportunity slip through our fingers, we’ll be wiped from existence when the Path of Divinity appears!”
“That’s right! We’ll die if we fail, so why fear dying in battle?”
…..The dead gods spoke, one after another, and attacked with ever-greater ferocity. They weren’t at all afraid of death.
After all, they’d been Master Gods in life. Their combat experience, mentalities, and spirits were far from ordinary. They might have been intimidated, but that absolutely wasn’t enough to scare them off.
Rather, in their eyes, Su Yi’s power of reincarnation was their last hope of survival!
In the face of this encirclement, the spearwoman’s situation got worse and worse. She was strong, but she was outnumbered. Even with all the treasures at her disposal, she couldn’t turn the tides.
And as the battle raged on, her wounds worsened. Her robes were stained with fresh blood, a startling sight.
Suddenly, the spearwoman asked out of nowhere, “Do you think I’m about to lose?”
Su Yi hadn’t anticipated that she’d divide her attention to ask such a question in the face of such grave peril.
“I might lose, but I won’t die. All of this is happening because my true strength has been sealed by the Boat of Eternity to temper my Path of Divinity,” said the spearwoman, sounding a bit stifled. “Because of the Boat of Eternity, I cannot use some of my strongest cards. Otherwise, any random one would be enough to destroy these blasted creatures!”
“…..” Su Yi didn’t know what to say. Bragging even at a time like this?
But he roughly understood the situation. It wasn’t that she didn’t possess the means to fight; it was just that the Boat of Eternity made it impossible for her to use them. She had to fight at minimum power in order to temper herself. At the same time, with the Boat of Eternity’s protection, she had no need to fear for her life.
“I’m not afraid to die, but if my actions lead to your deaths, I’ll have sinned terribly,” said the spearwoman, her eyes filling with determination. “In a moment, I’ll risk it all to create a path for you to escape!”
Risk it all? Her choice of words made Su Yi’s heart shake.
“Wait!” he couldn’t help but interject. “Leave it to me.”
“You?” The spearwoman was flabbergasted. A moment later, she said disdainfully, “Little fellow, don’t make trouble. Even if you want to help, you ought to know your own strength. You’re nothing but an ant blown about by the wind. If I weren’t here, any one of these dead gods would be enough to crush you to death.”
She wasn’t the least bit polite, but Su Yi just said calmly, “Your father asked me to look out for you, and as your senior, how could I stand back and watch as you risk yourself?”
The spearwoman: (ΩДΩ)
What’s going on? How could Father ask him of all people that? He’s even calling himself my senior? He’s just begging for a beating!!
