Whisker’s experiments gave a simple and clear answer to how he could gather Elixir from the sludge.
Since the Elixir didn’t evaporate at a temperature where water would, and since it was water-soluble, the easiest thing to do would be to mix a bit of sludge in a lot of water, transfer the water over to an empty container and then boil away the water.
At the end, all that would remain would be Elixir.
He did a small-scale experiment and confirmed that it would work.
Knowing as much, he now needed to make preparations to do that but on a larger scale. The first thing he needed was the apparatus he was going to have to use.
Whisker had 3 cauldrons in his Soul Space, which he decided to use. The cauldrons were full of sludge to begin with, which he simply let float around in his Soul Space.
There were a few other things in his Soul Space, but most of it was quite empty so he wouldn’t be affecting anything else.
After emptying the cauldron, Whisker produced just a handful of sludge which he placed into one of the cauldrons. Then came water.
Whisker had thought this part would be easy since he could just create water as a cultivator. However, when the water flowed beyond his 3 meters of radius, it simply turned to Qi, floating away.
Whisker was taken aback for a second but then he remembered that nothing made of Qi could last in Hell unless someone or something was keeping its attention on the thing.
Whisker couldn’t do that, so he had to source his water somewhere else.
The nearest source was the river, which was hours away, even for him. But Whisker had no choice. So, he went over to the river.
The greenish river flowed aggressively through the heart of the desert. Flora and fauna flourished around this place. Hundreds of cities existed along the banks of this very river that came all the way from the peaks in the north, and went to the center of the desert, where the strongest beasts of Hell made their home.
The water itself wasn’t the cleanest, so Whisker sighed at the thought of having to clean it. But on second thought, all he really needed to do was get rid of the particulates from the water so that the Elixir didn’t clump together with it in the end.
At that point, no matter how dirty the starting water was, it would pose no issue to a cultivator.
It took Whisker some time to prepare two cauldrons full of clean-ish water, at which point he finally was ready to refine the Elixir.
Whisker found a secure spot where humans hopefully wouldn’t visit and began his process. The first thing to do was wash the sludge with water and dilute it and then make the water pass through a cloth where the Elixir would leave with the water, and all that would remain behind was the unnecessary sludge.
Whisker made sure to wash the sludge twice over so no Elixir was left behind. If there was still any left behind, then it was a waste he was willing to accept. It wouldn’t make sense to go through it a third time since he didn’t lack sludge.
That would be a better use of his time.
Whisker then began heating up the two cauldrons full of water and waited as it all boiled away into steam. It took a while due to the sheer quantity of the water, but Whisker was done about an hour later.
He lowered the heat a lot as the cauldrons full of water evaporated until no more than a fistful of it remained in either one.
Whisker didn’t know how much longer he needed to continue, but since only so little of it remained now, he brought it out and placed it into a jar he carried.
He looked inside at the colorless liquid and got the faintest scent of earthy flavor. It was much weaker than how it normally smelled, almost as if boiling it got rid of most of its smell.
‘I hope it doesn’t destroy the Elixir itself,’ Whisker thought. If it did, he might have to start drinking the cauldrons full of water without boiling it.
His initial experiments hadn’t shown such results, so he was sure he was fine.
Looking at the amount of Elixir he had gathered, Whisker was somewhat proud of himself.
If what he learned from Alex was correct, then the amount he had with him right now was at least a third of what Alex had bought. The concentration, of course, was possibly very different, and the only way to find out was by drinking it.
A jar full of Elixir had made his brother’s body as strong as Immortal Transcendent 1st realm. If this was a third of the same quality, his body cultivation should at least enter the middle stages of Immortal Origin realm.
Thinking as much, Whisker drank all of the Elixir he had refined.
Upon drinking the Elixir, Whisker stood around and waited for it to take effect. He could feel the warm liquid fill his stomach, so it would have to spread throughout his body next.
Just as Whisker thought that, it happened.
The Elixir flowed through his body, slowly settling in various locations around his body. His senses were acutely observing every movement through his body, all the way until all of the Elixir settled in Whisker’s body.
Then, Whisker opened his eyes and tested his new strength.
Whisker wasn’t the best judge of strength when it came to body cultivation, but even he could tell that this was nowhere close to being in the mid Immortal Origin realms.
In fact, he doubted he entered the realm itself.
After judging his strength again, Whisker surmised that he had to be somewhere around Immortal Ascendant 7th realm. It was a great improvement from the previous days where his cultivation base had barely entered the Immortal realm at all.
However, at the same time, he would only need more and more Elixir to improve henceforth.
