Eternal Cultivation Of Alchemy

Chapter 2726 - 2726: Back to the Depths

“What if what I’m smelling is Elixir?”

That was all the thought Whisker needed before a floodgate of other questions and possibilities was released. His eyes were wide open, his mind racing with the new thoughts.

‘If it’s Elixir, then it could be where the beasts get their Elixir. Were they cultivating in order to absorb this Elixir? Where did the Elixir come from? Was this the Yin’s doing? How does Yin turn into Elixir?’

The dam was broken and the flood of questions was barely containable.

Whisker did his best to put aside all of his other thoughts, first focusing only on the one thing that was the most important of all.

Was he correct?

He had to figure out if the smell he smelled down there truly was because of Elixir. He knew regular dead beasts enough to know that they neither smelled this way, nor did they taste as such.

Only Hell beasts tasted this way, which Whisker had chalked up to being a difference in the two locations. However, now he began to wonder if the slight change in taste for the meat was due to the presence of Elixir in those meats.

‘Brother told me how the Elixir tastes,’ Whisker thought. ‘It has an earthy taste, doesn’t it?’

If Elixir did form in the sludge underground, it made very much sense to Whisker why it would carry that taste.

‘I don’t have any Elixir on me to test it properly,’ he thought. The only true test for Elixir would be to cultivate in its presence and see how much stronger he could get.

Whisker put aside the meat, choosing not to consume it for now. He wanted nothing but to cultivate while down there again and see how much stronger he could get. That would be the only proper test.

Yin began forming all around the desert, which was then sucked back down through the ground.

Whisker felt a little hesitant to go down there. Not only would the Yin be constantly pulled through the ground, making it pass through him if he went there, but there would also be other beasts with Sunhearts that would put away all the Yang from the surroundings, leaving him with even more Yin.

Whisker couldn’t afford such a situation considering how weak he still was. He needed plenty of strength first before he felt comfortable doing anything else.

‘I’ll have to go back down during Sunrise,’ he thought.

As he came to that conclusion, he realized why the other beasts did the same as well. They didn’t want to get wounded from the overwhelming Yin that would be pulled down all throughout Hell.

He could probably survive for the whole day if he really had to go down there right now, but then he would run out of Qi, in which case he would have to go and cultivate to gather the lost Qi, which would take quite a long time.

Without Alex’s help in cultivation, Whisker had to rely on a rather slow cultivation method that barely helped him gather Qi on his own. Other cultivation methods didn’t work on him due to his bloodline and bond to Alex.

For the time being, Whisker decided to go roam the desert and see what he could do to spend his time until the sun came back up the next day.

The nights weren’t boring in the desert at all, with the swarm of beasts constantly fighting each other in order to consume one another.

Whisker observed many of these fights and aftermaths, going through them after the fact to figure out a few things. First of all, he saved a few of the beasts sneakily before the others could realize they were missing.

It was always a good idea to save new meat sources after all.

The second thing Whisker did was go through the beasts sneakily and steal away their beast cores. He knew Alex had been planning on improving the blood beasts, so he would be needing these beast cores.

Finally, he smelled and tasted some of the corpses in order to figure out more about the Elixir content in them. The more he tasted them, the more he became confident in his finding.

The smell he had smelled down there was in fact the smell of Elixir. Now, he was more excited to go back there as soon as possible.

Whisker roamed through the desert, spending the last few hours of the night before dawn approaching the sky in the east. He then quickly found himself a beast and caught onto its body in order to ride back down to the depths of Hell.

The ride back down was smoother than the previous day, with no other beasts crossing paths. The beast gently settled onto the sludgy layer of the aquifer, going back to a hibernating state where it only cultivated.

Whisker got off the beast and swam through the cold sludge in order to find a spot where he could cultivate without worrying about any other beasts. The layer of porous rock that contained the aquifer had large enough holes and so many of them that Whisker easily found one unoccupied and made it his.

Whisker knew how strong he was physically. His strength didn’t even come close to being as strong as a regular Saint realm body cultivator.

That partly had to do with his lack of enthusiasm for training his body cultivation, and because of the strange way in which he had become an Immortal. He didn’t go through a lightning tribulation, so as a result his body hadn’t made any improvements before and after Immortality.

Even after eating beast meat for several weeks now, his strength still hadn’t made a good enough progression. So, as he currently was, he had the most confidence in testing just how much Elixir there was in the sludge surrounding him, as any improvement would be noticeable.

With nothing further to do, Whisker closed his eyes and began cultivating while he prayed for the best outcome.
