ETERNAL CULTIVATION OF ALCHEMY

Chapter 2560 - 2560: Purplerain's Fear

Purplerain was scared.

He had lived for over 250 thousand years and had only just become a Sword God 40 thousand years ago. He had some talent, but not like the monster that was Bladedance. He had to work hard at each step to reach where he was—work that was bloody too.

The entire time he was with Bladedance, he had done what was needed for him to succeed, and when Godslayer had been sealed, he had finally found the perfect chance to become the Sword God.

He had made use of that chance and become one. And yet, Godslayer had returned, and he had returned as the Artifact God they had killed and remembered everything.

The mere fact that he knew that he was a Slayer was scary enough. If Nightking were to find out that he had let the others find out about the Slayers, there was no way he was going to live.

For the sake of his own life, he had to kill Godslayer here today. He had to kill Alex.

He did not care about the future of the world now, the source of their doom. He only thought about himself.

“Artifact God!” he shouted. “Move aside.”

The Artifact God turned around and pulled out her creation again. The crystal hammer lay on her palm, and she gripped it tightly. “I will not let you kill my master.”

“That is not your master,” he said. “I was there when he died. Do you know how he died? He stabbed himself with the sword he created. The sword made him kill himself. Your master’s killer is right there, and you are letting it lie to your face.”

“Your lies will not work on me, Sword God.”

“I do not lie, Shen Yaojia,” Purplerain said. “My words are the truth.”

“I do not belie—”

“He’s correct,” Godslayer said solemnly, to the surprise of many others watching the three. “I killed myself.”

“Master?” The Artifact God failed to notice any untruths in his words. “What… what are you saying?”

“It was a moment of desperation, and the only path forward was death,” Godslayer said.

The Artifact God couldn’t believe her ears.

“See?” the Sword God shouted.

Godslayer looked toward him.

“But who was the one that forced me to take such a drastic measure, Purplerain? Who were the ones that came to my doors to steal my creation? Who was the one that corrupted my essence? Who was the one that brought only pain and suffering to my life for the past 200 thousand years?”

Purplerain had no words for him. He couldn’t have. So he spoke to the Artifact God instead.

“Artifact God, don’t forget, that is not just your master. That is the young man who will bring doom to our entire world. Who he is at this moment does not matter. He must die regardless,” the Sword God said.

“Your words have no effect on me, Purplerain. Anything you say is wasted, so save your breath,” the woman said, ready to fight.

“If his words won’t affect you, then hear mine,” someone else said.

The Beast God stepped forward. “I do not claim to understand what sort of emotions you are going through, Artifact God, but you must understand that the man next to you is the one who is going to be the doom of all life. You shouldn’t protect him.”

“I will fight for my master,” the Artifact God said.

“Then fight for him once we have rescued him from the young man’s body. Let us remove your master from the young man so that we can deal with the two of them separately.”

The Artifact God paused. That… was reasonable.

“Master, we need to—”

“Forget about that, little Shen. This young man here is my benefactor. He is the sole reason I can talk to you here today with every instinct in my soul telling me to kill every god. He is the reason I get to see you as you are. I will never give up on him. I would rather die than give up on him.”

The Artifact God saw the resolve in her master’s face. She took a long breath and nodded. “As you wish, Master,” she said and turned around. “I will protect him.”

The Beast God sighed. “Then I fear I must help the Sword God. Once the young man is dead, hopefully without your master, you may deal with any misgivings you will have with the Sword God.”

“Don’t expect me to thank you, Soulmother,” the Artifact God said.

“I would rather not be thanked by a man involved in the death of someone as prestigious as the Artifact God,” she said, her voice filled with clear disdain.

“Master, get back. I will protect you.”

“It’s alright, little Shen,” Godslayer said, Midnight appearing in his hand. “I can fight too.”

“No, it will be dangerous. He’s a god.”

“And for now, I am the Godslayer.” Godslayer’s voice was filled with a glorious note that felt wrong coming from a body so marred in darkness.

“Godslayer, I don’t think we can win,” Alex said. “We’re too weak to go up against a god.”

“Let us find out if that is true or not ourselves,” Godslayer said. “Give me some pills so we can get started.”

Alex brought out a few pills, all to aid Godslayer as much as they could. Eating this many pills at once was generally considered a bad thing, given how much it ruined a person’s body, but in this instance, it did not matter.

Given that the alternative was death, Alex had to give it everything he could, lest he wanted to die.

With the power of many Immortal pills surging through his body like ocean waves crashing onto the rocky shore during a storm, Godslayer felt the might of his body increase.

He could fight now.

As the Beast God began fighting against the Artifact God, Godslayer flew into the sky, his dark aura leaving an afterimage as he threw out the very first attack.

God Rending Death Blade.
